Great video. I did the repair according to your video. I then took it one step further and drilled two small holes above the compression nut and inserted a cotter pin to keep the compression nut from coming loose again. Hope it will not come off again. I took a picture of it but it seems that uploading pictures in the comment is not a doable.
That was the same extra step I took, Only I used a finishing nail the was long enough to go all the way across and still have enough length to hold both sides of the collar from passing. I do not think I will be going back in again. I also did my son's truck while it was sitting in my driveway and I had everything out. four mirrors done. thanks
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to make this guys day a little easier. I really appreciate your post. It saved me a lot of trial and error. I followed your video and my mirror repair went smooth and trouble free. Got another subscriber!
Thank You for showing how to fix this problem ,,,,, caught my truck mirror at a drive through and thought i was going to spend money to replace it ,,,,Thanks again for this Video !!! Take Care
Thx soooo much for this video! I just fixed mine! Thx 2u! FYI, I left it mounted on the door, removed the 4 screws, & hammered the nut back on. Simple. God bless u
It's nice to fix something without spending money on parts, for a change. Putting it back together (with a tight spring) was challenging. Putting the front frame on it's mount (before putting the back on) finally did the trick! Thanks for making the Vid!
I've been searching forums and plenty of good folks try to describe this process, but it is not like I pictured it in my head after reading about it. Thanks for the video and the slick use of lineman's pliers. I may try it with a deep socket just to see if it could bend the retaining tabs a bit. Anyhow, I appreciate the information and you gave me a solid laugh, too. Thanks again.
Rick Great video! Only thing yesterday, I bought one at the junkyard for $40. Live and learn. Now I know how to fix. I have subscribed to your channel. Thanks Tom
thanks ric , i have a 2001 tahoe., my drivers sideview mirror went bad a few days. ago i watched your video a few times. and fixed it thank you for your video
saved this video as soon as mine broke (waiting on warmer weather) ur video made it look real easy. I got it all torn apart and u definitely made it look easy. well I got it fixed sure as shit made it work. better than buying a new one. Thanks alot
Thank you Sir ... this got me 90% of the way there ... I had to use a 15" adjustable crescent wrench to walk the ring on with my body weight, but the job is done 😂
I had a chucklehead hit my mirror in a parking lot and left with leaving a note. The mirror was wobbly and would fold in while driving. Your video showed me how to quickly tighten it up. Thanks!
Cant say how long ive been looking to fix this problem and couldnt find a video thnx so much im going to try this when i get home hopefully it fixes my mirror couse it always shuts when im on the free way😂
Hi, Rick! If you after putting the spring nut back in place will drill a lil hole say 1/10 in dia through the aluminium tube just above the nut (beware of wires!) and get a simple nail in it the nut will never go off! ;o) By the way im really glad you fixed the wheel wobble without rebuilding whole front susp! Goodluck!
Hey Rick...don't know how I missed this one as I'm still not getting notifications from you when you upload videos. Anyway, you got me totally by surprise at the end. As I've always said, you are one crazy guy there Rick....LOL..Be good!
Hey Rick...thanks for the feedback and always looking forward to your vids as I never know what to expect LOL. Take care Rick and stay safe in Scottsdale.
LMAO Buddy I think I'm going on the depends, not sure I can watch your channel without them , man your off the hook. HA your fantastic Rick always an adventure on the RICKAFIX channel . Thanks Buddy
Hi Rick, thanks for the video, it is always great to learn how to fix your car and save money. I have Tahoe 2007 LT, would it be the same way to fix it? what year is your Tahoe? thank you.
Rick your video was great I got the hub with no problem, but I can't get the ring/tab to go over the spring. I did the same thing with the pliers and hammer and I still could not get the spring to compress to get the ring to fit, I could use some help.
the spring has a lot of tension it is not easy...you really have to hit it...also on ebay they are selling the whole mirror assembly cheap...I bought both sides for 65 i think
Lucky I wasn't eating or drinking anything while watching this video! I would have probably sprayed my tablet with whatever liquid or choked & died with a grin on my face! Well done... well done! Not sure if I g have the guts to send you some of my stickers for sponsorship!? LOL.
+Thomas EXOVCDS I am hitting the road soon that's why I didn't send you the address I will be in Scottsdale for a few months so when I get there I'll send it over..lol I almost made the title WAIT FOR IT!!! lol
+RICKAFIX Glad you didn't! Was a total surprise... I had to use a different thumbnail to hide Steve in my last video, or else that would have also given it away! LOL... I think we might be starting a new trend on UA-cam! Spot the stickers!! Haha
yup will make a video tomorrow or the next day.. I'll give you a hint.. It was the tires..new tires new balance drives great a bit loud with the rt's but it's nice I have a little vibration might be the front axel needs to be balanced
I did this once and I bent the teeth back in with needle nose pliers before hammering it so it would get a better bite. I just wasn't sure how far onto the shaft to beat down the spring. I decided to stop at about halfway.
All my life I've been wanting to know how to fix that loose spring thing.
You made a dream come true.
Touché.

Didn't work for me. Guess my spring is too far gone.

I did this once and I bent the teeth back in with needle nose pliers before hammering it so it would get a better bite. I just wasn't sure how far onto the shaft to beat down the spring. I decided to stop at about halfway.
Don't do it in a tahoe z71 2005 it's very complicated better take to the shop.
Funny censorship
you could fix that with a Ford ;)
