I know this review was solely for the Remtronix antennas, which I ended up purchasing REM-842S. I had a Watson W-881 Super Gainer. Couldn't believe the difference between the two. The Watson blew the doors off the REM-842. The Watson had twice the connections and those connections where much Clearer and louder than the REM. I believe I'll send the REM-842 back.

Interesting. I have a pair of Watsons myself. The Rem is better on 800 MHz.

Thanks for putting this together! I see you did a few antenna videos for the SDS. If you do another I'd love to see how these stack up against the OEM antenna in a similar test across the bands. I'd suggest adding a list or chart with all the results at the end as well.

Good antenna, but not very low profile :)

Same here I really want to know if the 820S 843S beat the diamond on the 800mhz band. I really want to see an 820S vs RH77CA vs Stock on 120mhz and 800mhz. ThAT is the test I was looking for. The Diamond is only $25 and rem is $45.

Just ordered a 842B Remtronix for $50 after tax. It better be amazing at that price. I'll find out in a couple of days.

@@morejelloplease Even on Zip Scanners site they run that much after paying the minimum of $10 to ship. So I ordered it from Scamazon where I can at least easily return it if it's not worth it

I'm surprised you haven't tried any of them on the 436 HP that's even if they will even work with that model I know it's notorious for simulcast Distortion issues that's why I ended up with an SDS 100 leaving the stock antenna on it because it does quite well and does not need external antennas compared to the 436 that unfortunately needs external antennas

If you are listening to simulcast systems on a non-sds radio then usually adding an external antenna makes problems worse. Unless of course it is a yagi pointed at a specific site with some attenuation in the line. Now if you are trying to receive VHF analog, an external antenna may work well. I've had a few 436 radios and simulcast Distortion was never really an issue but with more sites popping up across town it has become an issue for some users, it became an issue with my pro 96 and pro 2096 recently.

I've also played with the filter settings also on the sds100 and I found out that wide normal invert works really well for a filter setting I get dbm to about 65 to 80 so if you do see this reply try it out it also made my radio not work so hard minus all the heat though that it creates unfortunately
