I have just purchased them and I am a total newby! I picked up on knitting so easily with this set. I was watching someone knit here on UA-cam and he held it up and started talking about them, so I made the purchase off of Amazon, and now I am here in the knitting community! I'm in love head over heels!

As someone who started knitting 60 years ago, I've probably tried every needle made. For any knitting I do but especially lace, these are the best I have EVER used. The one feature I didn't see in. your video was the ability to easily add a life line as you knit.No more trying to pass a needle and thread thru. Has saved me from ripping out a lace pattern back almost to the beginning more than once. Finally bought my last set.

I love them too Charlotte! Thanks to a nice gift card from my wonderful son, I was able to purchase my set for a lot less than the retail price. I got mine in the 5" and the bought a few extra tips in the 4" for smaller circumference items. LOVE THEM!!

I bought these a few months ago. I am trying to increase my skills in knitting. I tried so many other circular needles. These by far are my favourite. They have helped me so much. The cords is the best of them all.

Yes, the cord is everything. I bought the fixed length circulars because I wanted to do the magic loop. Today I am watching these reviews because I am considering getting this set of interchangeables. Thanks for the thorough review.

Thanks for your review. I was struggling with knitting a project because the cable cord was so domineering! I asked myself, "why am I doing this on this set of needles?" I have 2 -4" Complete sets! I finally changed on the next row. I've been a promoter of another brand which I have used for 9 years. After purchasing my first Chiagoo's many months ago, I was a convert! These are the best needles I have ever used. In addition to my complete sets, I also have a few chiagoo fixed circs, and 2 sets of the Mini's and 2 of the 5" sets. All of the needles do not fall out of the bag! The minis would be good for very small work like baby hats, but, they're not for me. My fingers were too confined on the 2". I've found that I use more of my hand as a leverage for holding the needles. As I said before, these are the very best needles!

I've had this set for a few years now, and I absolutely refuse to use any other needles! I have used many different brands, including Addi and Knitter's Pride, and I ALWAYS come right back to my ChiaoGoo'S. I've recently purchased the dpn's and can't wait to make hats for my family!

I absolutely LOVE my one pair of Chiaogoos I have! But I had gotten them for a special project I was making and they were the only needles I could find that I could get in a 5 ft length. I didn't know how good the brand was then. But they are too long to use for anything else lol. The cable is totally amazing. I 100% agree with you there. I sooo wish I could afford this set. I Need this in my life lol.

Thank you for this review. I own the knitpicks interchangeable and they are nice. The more I knit the more I notice I’m getting stuck on the connector and even having my needle twist off. I am using wood and notice I like the slide of metal better. This will be my next investment 😍

I have been using the chiaogoo 9inch cable to make socks and love them. So I ordered the mini 4 inch set to start. I love the cord as well and will definitely invest in more of this brand. I am thinking I will want the 5inch for the larger set of needles.

Hi Charlotte thanks for the review on theses needles. I've been comparing interchangeable lately. I do have a couple ChiaoGoo fixed cables and love that the cord has no memory. When I was learning the magic loop method with other brands, the coiling/kinking was driving me crazy. Then I discovered Chiaogoo. I have also looked into Signature but they are very, very, very pricey. I like how the twists and spins cables are interchangeable too. I know i'll probably going to be purchasing a twist set soon.

Thanks for this video. I purchased this set of needles, and enjoyed using them until the cable came apart when I was yo-ing. Twice!!! So I'll try the key to see if I can get the cable tight enough not to fall apart. I first had wooden needles that gave me splinters and would snag the yarn. Then the next set I bought had round tips the slowed my speed down. So I was thrilled to use these needles. Then I was heart broken thinking I had to go back to the round tip needles. Have a wonderful day!!!

I finally decided to buy set but the short set because it had the needles I use the most. My biggest reason to buy was cause chiagoo offers many small needle sizes which I absolutely love. Found it on sale and was like I really want it. I hope they are sharp and lightweight. I have a cheap set that I had for about 4yrs or more and I don't like them at all. I hope I like these.😊👍

I recently got these and left be them! My first interchange set I ordered from AliExpress and although thebcords aren’t quite as flexible they’re not bad but do unscrew. (They’re much better than Boye cables). Anyway, playing around I discovered that the Chiaogoo small connector converts the cheaper sets of needles to fit on Chiaogoo cables!!!! I tried them with the AliExpress set from China, the Boye (don’t own) and even the set that ACMoore sells and it works on all. I haven’t tried with clover bamboo yet.
The Chiaogoo needles are much nicer than those cheapy sets but using the connectors and cables from Chiaogoo makes those cheap sets much nicer to use.

I happened across this brand needles a few years ago & fell in love with them because of cord! The cheap ones like Susan bates are awful! I agree knit picks cords are better but they keep there twist and I don’t like they’re interchangeable sets starts with a size 24” diameter. As I can I’ve been replacing my 16”circulars with chiaogoo circulars and I have this set in my amazon wishlist thinking about getting but this video sold me on getting the set eventually.

It's red nylon over braided stainless steel wire. The Mini sock set with their tiny gauge cords now can be used with Chiaogoo small US2-8 Tips, you just need the mini/small adaptor ( sold on Amazon) the mini cords are sizes 8,14,22,30 &37": the small cables 8,14,22,30,37 &50" size 8" cable can only be used with 4" or smaller tips. In May2018 ChiaoGoo shorties will be released.

Yes the stiff cords will actually flip the needle right in your hand! Grrrr! Almost all of my circular needles are 5 inch for the needle. So I think I will order the 5 inch when I order. Is there an adapter that could merge the small needle with the larger just in case you’d like to use them that way? I saw a review of a brand that did provide one but not sure now what company that was. Yes, I finally got to the later portion of your video! You answered my question! Thanks for your comments

How smooth is the join? Do you find your yarn snagging when you're trying to push it up from the cable to the needle? I have trouble with that with two other expensive interchangeable sets that I have and it's super frustrating.

While I don’t have the interchangeable ChiaoGoo I do have several fixed Chai Goo. For the most part I like them. My only complaint oddly enough is the cord. I was just knitting on a 16 inch size 11 and the cord was so stiff I had to switch it out. The other ones with longer cords are better. As for interchangeables I have Knitters Pride Nova Platina and Dreamz and especially love the Nova Platina. And I treated myself to a full set of Addi Clicks Turbo interchangebles last summer for my birthday and just love them. They are awesome! They are not sharp but have a blunter tip which I love except for lace. When I knit lace I use either my Knitters Pride because they are sharp or the ChiaoGoo. I also have 1 40 inch Hiya Hiya that I am using for a möbius cowl and it is quite pointy and it’s not even their sharp brand! When I was researching before I purchased my Addi’s I asked on a Knitting forum and got so many different responses. Everyone has their favorites. Thanks for the review!

did you have the 4 in set or the 5 in? If you use the short cord with 4 in ones they should not be a problem. Personally I like a stable cord and Chiagoo is the best. I have the 5 in set now looking to get the 4 in set to have access to make 16 in cords.

I am also an advanced beginner. I'm going for the 5 inch full set and then buying the mini cables with the "mini cable to small tip" adapter. While the cables that come with the complete set will work for magic loop, I read that using the mini cables make the process a dream!

I have these "Twist" in 5", so the heels of my hands don't get poked. I understand that the bamboo set is called "Spin". Those have a swivel end, & Chiaogoo says that those cords work with the "Twist" set for a swivel experience on the "Twist".

Thank you for the review. I am a new knitter and decided to make my best friend a baby blanket for her first baby. I bought some wooden cable needles from Amazon. The cable drives me crazy but I can handle that, it's not as bad as the one you showed. But the needles are just slowing me down. It's a simple project, just K and P stitches and I finally gave up and did not finish the project because constant pushing the stitches up and down the needle and cable drove me crazy. I want to learn more stitches nd knit more advanced projects (recently I started knitting socks, love it but again, cheap needles from hobby lobby would need to be updated before the next project). Would you recommend 4" or 5" set for the beginner who wants to make all sorts of things, from wash clothes to sweaters? I also heard the set is not as good for knitting anything except lace projects, is that true?

    • @TheNervousKnitter
      @TheNervousKnitter  6 років тому +2

I have knit everything with mine, from socks with magic loop to hats scarves blankets, you can knit anything with them, what makes them nice for lace is how pointy they are. They really get in there and allow you to easily knit 2 or 3 or even 4 together. I personally use the 4 inch tips, and I have big hands and they have never been an issue...

The Nervous Knitter thank you so much for the fast answer. I am going to put this set on my wish list for my husband to use it wheb he needs a help with choosing a gift for me ;-) I am finishing my first sock now using 4 and 5 needles, don't know magic loop yet but I'm sure I'll learn ;-) my hands are rather smaller so I guess 4" would be easier to use.

ChiaoGoo also makes "Spin" sets which consist of bamboo needles and super thin, flexible nylon cables. I buy the cables by themselves ($5-$8) and use those for magic loop. All the ChiaoGoo needles fit all the cables so they're truly interchangeable. I can use my bamboo tips on the red cords and the steel tips on the nylon cords without issue. :)

I started out with ChiaoGoo Shorties as I was knitting socks and absolutely was impressed and decided when I was able to afford the complete set, that I would go for this.
I also love knitting hats and though I am sure that you could knit hats with the 5" needle tips, in a smaller circumference the shorter the tip you can work with makes your first few cast on rows, easier to do. Now this depends upon how large your hands are. My hands are uses to playing an octave on a piano so my hands aren't tiny. I am 5'4" and though I could have bought the 5" instead of the 4", I was so impressed that I could knit socks on the small circumference, it was a real joy. And I also knit lace and sweaters. If one was knitting the collar on a sweater or the cuffs on a sweater, the shorter needles are then also more useful.
I also have a set of bamboo by Knitter's Pride which I have used for years but the joins are not nearly as smooth as ChiaoGoo. The cables are like KnitPicks and are in fact interchangeable as well as with KnitPro. However I am retired and I have been having a very happy moment since getting these. When I knit, I am one happy camper. In the past, I did have a set of Boye Alluminum interchangeables and I gave them to a thrift store. I also did try the Clover Bamboo set from Joann but took them back as they were not at that time carrying replacement parts and the tips at that time just seemed to short to me. I used to have arthritis in my hands but via knitting and my diet, I have no pain whatsoever so now the smaller length work terrific for me. If you work with heavier yarn, however, it is possible that the 5" would work well. This is not a deal breaker, as far as that one inch longer in most knitting.
      Hope that helps you.

Is the size of the needle marked on the tips? I find it annoying to have to use the needle gauge every time I want to know what size the needle is!

sooooo worth it. If you bought all these sizes and needles individually it would cause hundreds of dollars.

If you think these are expensive, look into the prices of Signature brand, and each size has its proprietary cables.😳

If you go with fixed ChiaoGoo circulars they are very reasonably priced. And honestly the interchangeables are a very good value per needle. You can buy a small set and adaptors and use large tips on small cables any length. Join chiaogoo divas fb group to learn more.

You can always try a separate cable with a couple of needletips. Just to try them out. That's how I did it and now I'm expanding by buying more separate needletips and/or cables. That way you don't have to buy a whole set at once. A needlecase is also not very expensive. In my country they cost about €5,- (5 euros).

I have seen them for a lot less. You have to shop around.
