    I am also a Chiagoo devotee. I mostly knit sweaters, and when splitting for the sleeves, I put my stitches right on the blue shortie cables and put on the little rectangular twist end caps while I knit the body. It is so much easier than doing the whole scrap yarn thing. I have only been knitting a little over 2 years, and I did buy some cheap knitters pride bamboo needles to learn with, but I watched alot of reviews and took the plunge and invested in both a 4-inch and 5-inch complete set plus a few accessories like the little rubber grippy hearts, extra connectors and extra end caps. I also have the blue shorties for sleeves. Right now I mostly use the sizes 5-9 American, but in the future I might use more than just the 9s from the large sizes so I am glad to have them. I think I am definitely set for life with these needles, I enjoy knitting with them immensely!

    I bought the shortie set through Amazon just last week for a significantly lower price. I did read about the possiblity of counterfeits after I purchased and was worried, but the reviews for good. Thanks for the tips in this video because I just did the comparison on the Chiaogoo site and they appear to be very authentic. I see no problems at all. Great review!

    I was fortunate enough to get into knitting right before the pandemic and purchased all my Chiaogoo sets from Amazon. Not only did the pandemic create a new community of knitters, it also created a market for fake products that has flooded Amazon website. It's also messed up how much the prices have increased both on Amazon on LYS.

      Yep and then chiaogoo increased there prices last year which makes it even harder

      @@mollyjknits3208 That seriously annoys me - too many companies raising their prices by 10-20% and they keep using the pandemic as an excuse. Like you, I have many sets of CG needles but I can not imagine buying them at today's prices.
      I am finding it is better to buy some items out of Europe. Even with shipping, it comes out cheaper,
      There's another brand called SeeKnit out of Japan.As much as I love my CG metal needles, I think SeeKnit makes the best bamboo needles. Their needles are gorgeous.

      @@Enig_Mata the problem is they are making there product like an exclusive club where only people who can afford to buy them can have them. It’s expensive which I don’t mind about because I get a really good quality but some people can’t afford it and then they miss out. They need a cheaper option.

    • @Enig_Mata

      @@mollyjknits3208 I totally agree. There's already a problem in the fiber community where products are not within reach for many people. This is not to knock indie dyers or Fiber artists, but many people simply can not afford hand-dyed yarn that costs $20/sken and requires 8 skeins for a garment. Better to buy coned yarn from a mill than these boutique yarns that look best in skeins.
      The price fluctuation with Chiaogoo makes no sense. The complete set in about Aus $300... same in Canada. I feel many manufacturers are taking advantage of the current situation.
      Clover makes good products, but I find Tulip is much better. There's another brand called SeeKnit out of Japan that makes Kinki Amibari needles, but these are more of the premium line.

    I absolutely love mine, as well and have the minis and the large. ChiaoGoo now makes 2" cables for the minis, and so I've done as LEO below!

    I love my Chiaogoos, I have the 5" full set and plan on getting the minis and shorties plus the Tunisian hooks. I may get some of the 4" or bamboo needles but will likely get them individually. Not only are they amazing needles they are so versatile since they are fully compatible with each other. I can't wait to start experimenting with T-hooks and mixing it with knitting.

    Very informative as I’m looking into purchasing a set of interchangeable needles. Thank you from Canada

    Love the interchangeability of all the Chiaogoo products. Another small circumference hack; I have bamboo and steel set plus set of three 2" x-flex cables. With these I can create a set of three flexible "dpns" like hiya hiya fliers. Just put a steel needle on one end and a size smaller bamboo on the other end for 2 needles and then the 2 bamboo needle tips of equal size to the steel on the other cable.
    You should also be able to attach the shorties to any of the right size red cables.

      Yeah I have the 5cm cables so I can make Flexi DPNS as well it’s fantastic!!

    I too am a Chiaogoo fan - just bought their wooden set this year - they are not the same cord as the red lace but the cords work really well and I love love love the needles!!! Just saying!!!

    • @Enig_Mata
      @Enig_Mata 2 роки тому

      You can buy the red lace cord to use with your bamboo needles - they are interchangeable. If you mainly knit garments, you can buy the 24 or 32" S cord .

    I do have the sock set of Chaiogoo DPNs and they are every bit as good as their circular needles. If I had to say, there was anything I didn’t like about them is that you have to be very careful opening the case because they do want to fall out . I still use DPNs when I knit socks cuff down, casting on a sock cuff on magic loop just makes my brain hurt (I always seem to twist the cast on). I do magic loop for toe up socks every time and most my socks are net toe up

    • @mollyjknits3208

      I have used the metal DPNs and I agree. The wooden ones in my opinion are very flimsy.

    • @pjschmid2251
      @pjschmid2251 5 місяців тому

      @@mollyjknits3208 any kind of wooden DPN that is that thin is going to feel very flimsy. I have several sets of Lantern Moon Sox Stix and they’re beautiful, wonderful feeling in the hand, but it scares the heck out of me that I’m going to break one (they even knew they were so delicate that they gave you six needles instead of five 😆). It’s probably why Lantern Moon doesn’t make them anymore 😔

    hi - i bought a set of 2.5 mm dpn's, and i think they were fakes, because they were reeeeally slow to use, and, when i looked at them closely, they had grooves all over them as if they were really long, skinny screws :(. i bought them off of amazon, but never bothered to send them back.

    Not converters- they are called “adapters” both small to large and mini to small- also you can stack them too. Connectors connect same sized cables to lengthen them-I do this as my shawls grow or top down yokes. Put both connectors or adapters on safety pins to prevent loss.
