Greg , I have shown this video to a Japanese friend of mine who is a potter for bonsai and is the 12th generation in his family and he said this . "this is not the Japanese way , but somehow this is better , because the Japanese way evolved from the Chinese aesthetic still keeping the essence of it , and you have evolved from the Japanese aesthetic but still keep the essence of it. and that is all that matters, good technique and keeping the essence of the aesthetic , and you have both "
This is more than nice, every craftsman would appreciate that kind of praise coming from another .
Wow! Next logical step in my bonsai hobby and passion for DIY is to make my own pots. So I’m watching videos to learn what to do. This is a great video. I’m sure my first 100 pots won’t look as good as yours, but you showed me the process I want to use. Once I get the pots made, there’s a local place to get them fired for a fee. I’m excited to go get some clay! Thanks for the video. Btw, do you sell these pots?
Awesome job sir.. and the music... I was wondering if you burn it after you are done or just let it dry like that.... And how do they give their pot a glossy surface almost like tiles? do they use a different material? please leave a comment.. THANK YOU
Thank you for watching my videos, it's thanks to you that I can continue ;) For this pot the bottom strip was added afterwards. it's a half coil of clay that is made using a "spinner" (I don't know the real term in English), as in this video for example: ua-cam.com/video/7-ZvjJfbWcw/v-deo.html
Hi Grey, amazing work! What kind of clay did you use? Do you need to burn it? I made a few cement bonsai pots for my bonsai trees, and very interested in making clay pots. Kind regards, Kent

Greg-Ceramics aww man.. of course you’re in France... well, you do great work, thanks for sharing. My name is Gregg also
Awesome job sir.. and the music... I was wondering if you burn it after you are done or just let it dry like that.... And how do they give their pot a glossy surface almost like tiles? do they use a different material? please leave a comment.. THANK YOU
ty... Yes it was fired at 1240°C. For the glossy surface, it's just experience, there's nothing else but clay.
Thank you so much for sharing so much technique and knowledge! I am curious- is thr bottom thr piece cut out of the rim at the start?
Thank you for watching my videos, it's thanks to you that I can continue ;)

@@Greg-ceramics I meant the actual flat bottom of the pot- the big slab. It looks like the same shape as the void inside the rim piece at the start.
Yes I cut the 2 pieces at the same time
@@Greg-ceramics Thank you for confirming!
