There's a sound in your background music that's IDENTICAL to my cat's meow when he wants something, and I was answering him for like 3 minutes until I realized he wasn't there lol
Great video, thank you! I'm gonna grab myself a Q1 Pro soon (the black one), but I actually like the standard keycaps and the brown switches. Do you think I can make it as thocky as in this video with those? Should tape mode and replacing the foam be sufficient?
Nice! I think you can achieve a level of thock for sure. taping it does help with that but it's not advised to because there's a battery in it. I have and had no issues so far but just be careful with it. make sure you lube your switches too
thank you! I bought the keychron BoW keycap set from their website and the other blue/grey set is something I got from MASH in Singapore. however keychron has another set similar to those they're called Dolch Red
Just got my Q1 Pro on Tuesday and was pretty disappointed in how the stock Banana switches sounded even with the tape mod. After lubing them they did sound better, but gonna be putting some Alpaca's into mine and maybe some 50 mil sound deadener
Yeah I agree I wasn't blown away with the stock sounds and it became more apparently when it was side by side after it was modded. Nice hope it sounds better for you with those mods, defo need new stabs too
Love the video! What keycap set did you buy? I love the darker grey mixed with the white. But the box you show just seems like the Double Shot KSA PBT Light Grey and White that doesn't include this darker grey. Thank you in advance! Excited to sub to your page.
Hey! Great video, bought the keyboard and planning to use this moding. I saw however that some have recommended not to use tempest mod on keyboards that has batteries because of fire safety? Is this something to be concerned about you think or does it come down to using the right sort of tape?
Hey thank you! I've heard this a few times now and personally still use painters blue scotch tape regardless on two of my keychron battery builds and had no issues so far. Mainly doing it at your own risk
@@Jonhokeeb Oh wow, thank you for the fast reply. I've also bought blue scotch tape but I am not sure yet if I should place some electrical tape on the bottom layer just to be sure. The difference is huge so would be a shame to just skip it.
Thanks! Would say change the switches and add a different type of foam at the bottom. Will be experimenting on a thocky build so will let you know when I do :)
I don't know wtf, but by mine Keychron Q1 Pro with brown switches is sound like yours on video just after modifications. Well.. MOSTLY. My Spacebar is a bit more clicky)

I bought my Keychron Q1 Pro and it should arrive next week. I was wondering if there wasn't any problem adding the tempest tape mod in a bluetotth devide. Saw some people commenting that it could set the keyboard on fire because of the battery. Do you know anything about?
I did hear about that too but I think with any keyboard with a battery there is always that risk whether high or small. However i have built 2 keyboards with the tempest tape mod (K6 Pro and the Q1 Pro) and haven't had any issues so far! Hope that helped
@@Jonhokeeb I came here to ask this question as well, so thank you. I saw the suggestion of using electrical tape instead of painters tape. Have you ever tried this?
How did you get the Durock V2 stabs to fit on the pcb? Mine arrived today and when I tried to swap out the stabs the durocks wouldn’t fit. The plastic tabs on the non screws side seem to be too thick to fit into the pcb holes properly
Hmm that's strange I did have use slight force starting from the non screw side but nothing too heavy. If I remember correctly it's the white hole on the PCB is where the screw goes into and plastic tab on the opposite side
Hey, yeah I heard a lot about that too. I still did it despite the warning but haven't had an issue with both my battery keyboards. but becareful as it could cause problems
Awesome video! Just a quick question, did the durrock v2 stabs give u any trouble? I’ve seen a couple posts abt them being incompatible so I was curious if u face any issues.
Nice video. However, next time use antistatic gloves or a ground strap when manipulating the PCB because ESD could be the source of random failures in your next cool keyboard!
@@Jonhokeeb but they are the most headache with the least likelihood of success lmao I tried for hours to get my stabilizers right on my drop ctrl high profile but i simply cannot be asked to fiddle with it just to put it back together and have it sound nearly the same or god forbid worse
Such a nice video! I'm going to get one as my first mechanical keyboard this summer, and this only made me more excited!
Awesome! Which keyboard you getting?

Thanks for the tips. Mine will arrive next week and also baby kangaroo switches :)
No problem! Hope the build goes well :)

what do you feel about so big weight of this? for me this is a problem, a bought gmk81 after living some months with q1 pro

You could put a couple layers of tape inside the spacebar. Usually sounds hollow without it
Newbie here, is tape mod danger for battery keyboard? I heard you need a special tape to mod it.
Hey welcome! I heard it can be an issue but modded two with tape and no issues so far 🙏

Small correction, its not Gateron Banana, iets Keychron K Pro Banana
ah thank you for pointing that out
Does Q1 Pro do some improve for hollowness and ping sound from the basic Q1?
Yes definitely especially with the silicone tabs added so you don't need to force break mod it

Haha not that I know of yet but then you'll be missing out on the best part. Can just chill and mod with your favourite show on
How about keyckron’s Q1 acoustic kit mod?
Ah that I haven't tried. Wanted to use less foam for this mod to hear more of the all metal case
How is typing on it without a wrist rest, is it comfortable?
I usually type and edit without a wrist rest and it's ok for me. but when I game I always use one!
My keyboard knob is set to volume control. Is there a way to program the knob to smaller increments, go up and down by 1 instead of 2?

Works well, has 1000hz polling rate and 90hz wireless
