On my first trip to Senegal I met so many amazing musicians like Salliou, I vowed to return with better audio and video tools to help share their music. The money raised in the GoFundMe campaign will go directly to supporting these musicians making music and to help bring the traditional music of Senegal to the world! We're investing out own money in the gear necessary to record them.

Can I buy this instrument from you?
Man, if i had these in middle school instead of making pen beats..
get yourself some now...?? your brain is willing to learn like a child's, it's just your attitude getting in the way :)
Lmao right
@@TheKoodus I got some today and cant stop lol
@@khaeshante that's wicked!! The first step takes a fair bit of practice and time, but once you get that first rhythm down, the learning really accelerates. Well done on getting them, I'm sure they will provide a lot of entertainment :)
St8 fax brethren
I cannot imagine the work behind. Musicians always make it look like easy with their talent but it is so hard!
The timing and precision is impressive.
Those polyrhythms though... Sick. Thanks dude.
I met Salliou!!! About 8 years ago on Gorée Island and bought a pair of asalato/cas cas that I still use to this day. He was so awesome. So cool to meet him and rediscover him here! Keep vibing bro!
Me toooooo
I just purchased a pair. I can't wait to get like my brother here.
🇸🇱 Sierra Leone
How does it called? Cannot fiind nothing on cas cas online
@@DjGreWu I think it’s called a kashaka? (Sorry for replying to such an old comment!)
I don't know if I have ever been more proud to see someone representing Alabama on their T-shirt.
Wow just seen that wonder if he even knows what and where alabama is
@@joshcrumpton8890 most likely does
I met him Last week in a boat in Gorée, he is OK and still an amazing musician
woah the kashaka is such a genius instrument, i hope it becomes huge and used more in songs worldwide
I cant even maintain the basic rythm. This is incredible!
If there was a Cas Cas hero game, (Guitar hero), he should be the final boss.
This guy is a fantastic percussionist - it's amazing what he dies with so little. Bravo!!
Phrasing!
he's not dead :P
Do u mean does

I now want to use these as an instrument in D&D and call them the balls of my enemies.
It can also deal 2 d4 blunt weapon damage on top of being an instument
Will be giving one of those as starting weapons to the one shot table I'm running tomorrow. Thanks!
This is the hardest percussion instrument I've ever tried to learn!!! I wish I could bring him to TEXAS to give me lessons!☮️
Best 5 minutes of my day.
I know this is an instrument but I’m strangely getting asmr vibes from this
Amazing! I bet it’s brutal on the hands though. They’ve got to be heavy enough to swing around and then they’re making contact in front and back of hands, possibly hitting knuckles. VERY impressive.
They don't even hurt your hands. They're very light, and the only contact is gourd to gourd. It's all in the momentum from the shake.
Yeah you don't feel it at all really
Oh yeah, brutal. He is in so much pain 😂
You would think they have heft but actually the cas-cas are very light weight. I found them difficult to play because they are so light. It takes skill to play as good as Salliou.
Masterful. Must have been playing for many years to get such incredible skills. Amazing.
Thousands of white guys with dreadlocks will now want this instrument.
mongreleater almost tight . It's a Japanese guy ua-cam.com/video/jzhJuSKJ9N8/v-deo.html
mongreleater LOL!!!
you imply that people play instruments to look cool. try learning one ;)
I dont have dreads, but these shakers are close to the best sounding I've ever heard.
"I'm gonna blow their minds at the next drum circle, man"
Man and everybody at the drum circle gets mad at me when I play 5 beats. They're all like, you gotta count to 4. It has to be divisible by 4! I'm all like, why? I'm gonna show 'em this video.
Africans are the original cool. This guy is great!
You’re probably playing with lower level musicians
Check out what Neil Peart does with 7/8 time.
@@pawpawstew 7/8 is my favorite time signature! 4/4 is so boring.
5/4
Polyrhythms line up eventually, for example a 3/4 beat will line up with a 4/4 beat on the 12th beat. You play your bar 4 times, they play there’s 3. If they’re giving you a hard time that’s on them
凄く心地いいな
定期的にみにきてしまう
Try all the different playback speeds! I like 1.25x and .75x
Hypnotic!
I love this guy a very talented young man
I once had to get my liver removed at the hospital when i woke up I could faintly hear a groovy beat coming from outside my room, i felt a sharp pain when i sat up and i realized, my balls are gone and the doctors are making some sick African beats with them
Probably the best part of this video is how he didn't smash his fingers in between those things. Unless he did, then someone let me know.
You were too lazy that you commented before watching the video....welcome to the family
That was f****** incredible I can't believe what I just saw and heard
Just bought pair of plastic and whatever from Amazon. Gosh I would love to spend just one day with this dude... I would give him a drum set and enjoy letting him cook!!!
My dog: WHERE ARE MY BALLS??!
The Vet:
This is absolutely incredible!!
I’m only watching this because my music teacher wanted the class to , and he did really flipping good. It will probaly take my years to practice this.😃
Nice just got these and a Shekere with a drum I bought did one lesson at my mental health group and really enjoying it even though I struggle to get the patterns
Expert level.
Fantástico! I am from São Paulo city Brasil.
Amazing music and amazing talent. Relaxes the soul. Thank you Salliou

Hell even country music. Banjo is thought to have evolved from the Kora I believe.
Just straight vibes

i can make sick beats out of this audio. Seriously a great instrument.
Astonishing! I use this video in my upper school music courses to illustrate idiophones and polyrhythms.
Underrated

Me: wakes up after surgery
Me: where is my balls
The surgeon :
Men, this guy is a pro. I can imagine myself trying to play that and hiting my own face with it hahaha!
Worse than hitting your face, I can feel these things hitting hard on the bones of my fingers lol
