    For those who don't know, Midi just controls no sound comes out it. So you will also need plugs for the MPC's STEREO OUT going into the audio interface's instrument slots (MPC 2000XL).

    @geminitwinworld , that's easy. Just hook up the in and outs of the mpc to the ins and outs of your keyboard go to the main screen of the mpc , and from there you can control the keyboard. However , keep this in mind. If your program bank is A on your keyboard , to keep it that way........you have set the program bank on you mpc to B , and vice versa. Let me know if you got it to work

    @CLASSICILLSCHANNEL , so I would need multiple 1/4 wires to achieve that , or the midi cables you discuss from earlier. And would there be difference in how the 2 will react inside pro tools

    Do you know the same technique for using Garageband? How do I use Garage band as a master and my mpc, eps, and roland 1080 as a slave? I've added all of the additional things to my Garage band like Mido (Midi Converter) to it. Keep in mind I'm running out of the midi out on my interface and into midi in on my MPC. I've set up the midi time clock on my MPC 2000 etc. What are your thoughts?

    Do you know how to track out in all 8 outputs? I have an mpc 1000 and I'm still confused at the whole concept. I have a 10 channel mixer, mbox, and a midi cable. Is there anything else im missing equipment wise? I still can't comprehend everything, still new to this stuff. dope video btw! very informative.

    thanks for this video. I noticed you didn't have any quarter inch cords hooked up. so if I have an mpc 2500 trying to run it through an interface (i820)to my logic pro x all I need is the midi in and out hooked up from the mpc to the i820 in order for them communicate with my logic pro x?

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  7 років тому +2

      +Senica Lee You need both midi cables and 1/4 inch cables. Midi cables send information and 1/4inch cables send and receive audio signals.

    • @senica410
      @senica410 7 років тому +1

      Your video helped me out tremendously. Now I'm trying to sync the beat it's playing off beat in my logic.

    • @senica410
      @senica410 7 років тому +1

      +dj deem yes I did! the midi is only used to communicate the info from the mpc to the i8i20 to the logic. the logic program should receive the mpc/audio interface as audio NOT midi. and it all worked perfectly. I didn't need any midi click none of that mess. I've been recording ever since with absolutely no problems!!

    • @senica410
      @senica410 7 років тому +1

      +dj deem yes. as long as you have your mpc 8 outputs going into the audio interface and the midi cables running from your mpc into the audio interface and back into the mpc. then set your logic software to input audio. then track out each sound from the mpc out to each logic track. I didn't have to use any midi sync at all.

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  7 років тому +1

      +beep Gonzales I'm just using a cheap Lexicon lambda interface. The Scarlett 2i2 would work to record the audio but, without midi in and out, it won't be able to align the audio being recorded into the DAW.

    • @SocietateaAscendenta
      @SocietateaAscendenta 5 років тому

      But, one can always manually align those tracks - takes some time, I know...

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  5 років тому +1

      You can but it's a pain to get the tracks aligned the way you had it in the MPC. Sometimes the "air" that you leave at the beginning of the samples in the MPC can play a big role in the groove of the beat.

    Thanks for the vid! I'm wondering..how should my midi setup look like in FL studio with my interface (mbox)? I get it to work, but the only problem is it makes this crazy clicking noise for like 5-6 sec before it starts to record in FL. Anyone familiar with this and knows what i'm doing wrong? I have the midi setup on the MPC just like in this vid.

  • @studio4ffofficial

    doing it this way you will use the MPCs swing, if set, don't you? the daw will overwrite it, right?

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  8 років тому +1

      Yes, doing it this way will record all of your tracks the way they are setup in the mpc. The daw is setup so that it will automatically start recording the tracks on the 1 as soon as you hit record. Mpc swing should stay intact.

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  7 років тому +2

      +jonh herrera If you're not getting sound, make sure of these things:
      1.) There are sounds assigned to the pads
      2.) The faders in the mixer screen are turned up
      3.) The cables in the back are going stereo out from the mpc to stereo in of your mix board, audio interface, speakers, etc.
      4.) The master or main gain knob is turned up
      5.) Your mix board, audio interface, speakers are turned up.
      6.) The stereo outputs on the back of the mpc are working properly
      7.) You have your track mutes turned off
      Some of these maybe obvious things to try but sometimes we overlook the simplest things.

  • @dianevrules

    You just transferred ("tracked out") 5 tracks separately. That means you played the song 5 times to do that ish. If your song were 5 minutes long, you spent 25 minutes to transfer only 5 tracks. Plus those tracks will probably drift. because it was done with a BS interface. Transferring one track at a time will take a long mf time. The best way to sync all of the sounds from the MPC 2000 to your DAW is to midi sync your MPC with a midi capable multi track portastudio like a Tascam DP32 or some ish. If you have 8 outputs on your MPC, you can transfer up to 8 sounds out of your MPC at a time and they will be in perfect sync. No drifting BS. If you have 24 tracks in your MPC, you will need to do a total of 3 separate transfers. Which means you will end up playing the the song 3 times to transfer all 24 tracks from your 2000. If the song is 5 minutes, that means it will take you 15 minutes to transfer 24 tracks as opposed to playing the song 5 times and taking 25 minutes just to transfer 5 mf tracks. After you transfer all the tracks to a portastudio, just remove the SD card from your portastudio and place the ish in your computer. Drag all 24 tracks from the SD card and place them into your DAW. All 24 tracks will be perfectly lined up. Drag and drop will take seconds. Simple as that. If you dont want to do this ish or wtf he said, just buy a modern MPC that allows you to do transfers through USB or some ish.

    • @Kwelar
      @Kwelar  4 роки тому

      Diane V Thanks for commenting! I only recorded 4 bar loops of every track in my beat and would do the arrangements in my DAW. Only takes about 5 mins total. I just never really liked arranging beats into full songs in the MPC I found it to be too limiting for me.
      When I had a pc I used a SCSI to usb cable to drop all my tracks from the MPC into my daw.
      I don’t own the MPC 2000 anymore. I own an MPC Live now, which is perfect for me.
