How I make a beat on the MPC2000 in 2021

  • MPC2000 is still a very good sampler, and can easily integrated with any modern DAW or gear. They can still be found for relatively cheap, and have a big MPC community to trouble shoot, and get spare parts and upgrades.

True, vintage workflow is dope in its own way and can lead to different results. As a professional producer with a family, I became obsessed with streamlining my workflow and getting more efficient so I appreciate the more modern MPC One in my studio. I’d like to get a vintage unit later on.

I feel you. Most times I just sit and relax making beats on my laptop stretched out on the sofa. When I fire up my gear, it can be time consuming, but I usually finish with a beat that I feel proud and accomplished by. Tracking out in to the daw is the other annoying aspect lol.

I have this love for the 2k classic over the XL. It just has a good crunch and my WF is so much better. Nice video man I have most all MPCs and incorporate them. Simple and fun instead of looking at the screen.

This is why the mpc and all mpc's are best at being drum samplers and midi sequencers. I used to try and do everything on one machine and grew frustrated threw time. You get the best out of production equipment when you use it for it's strong points.

My mpc 2000 maxed out was 6 minutes sampling time. That was amply more sample time than I’ve ever used. The sound is unique compared to my mpc one, Fl studio SliceX , EPS 16 plus or Triton Pro. I’ll never sell it. I love the sequencer and the other functions on it. It’s a relic but I can live with that.

yea I should of said that. You can def mute per track... just on the mpc2000xl you have a screen you can use the pads to bring in and out of mutes. Its not a game changer to me, because reality is the beat will be dumped down to DAW and arrange as needed. Appreciate it, next video will be way higher quality with lighting.

Nice setup. I get my character from the sp-505 & mpc live. With the live you can have 4 fx on each pad & 4 fx on each track so you can really create some crazy stuff with 8 fx & my 505 provides a great sounding reverb & lofi effect. I also have the sp950 pc plugin if I want a sp1200 sound. For fun live fx I use the 404mkII. Every sampler has its own sound. You just have to find what you like the best & hopefully you can afford it. 😁

Stereo sampling can eat up to much sampling time. So I just typically sample a mono channel. The mono sample will be heard on L+R. On mix down I can just add a imager plug in to give stereo width.
