I have a Zoom ST224, Roland XP80 and an MPC 2000 XL, a dj mixer & turntable- cant tell you how many times i wanted to sample thru the ST or XP add effects and resample into the XL - so this really helped- Thank You Bro! Jus Subbed and Liked - keep banging out the beats !

How are you not getting feedback from having an input and output from the same device plugged into your mixer isnt it like taking a cable from the output directly to the input?
Another option might be with a passive audio switcher (eg. 3-in 1-out) to select your sampling source. That way, you can still make use of the mixer's aux sends but for other purposes , like sending MPC tracks to SPs for effects
That’s something to consider, but to be honest even with that sort of audio switcher you would still need to use mixer aux to resample between the machines if you have only one output from that switcher, or disconnect that one out from the mixer and plug back to one of the samplers. In my workflow with that aux cable you can do resampling much easier and it still doesn’t prevent you from using the aux to send audio from MPC to the SP for fx. Actually every beat I make I track out using that aux send to SP for all the fx. I also like the fact that all my gear is connected to the mixer and I don’t have to switch between them, I can always be able to hear all of them at the dome if I want to as opposed to switching. I used to have a switcher like that for live shows where I had 2 ins and 1 out and I had my bass guitar and bass synth connected and I’d switch between one and the other.

sampling in mono is better than stereo you dont lose as many artefacts of the sound
I sample most of my stuff in mono (except when I forget😁)
Im still yet to buy a mpc 2000xl, sp-400, turn table, and mixer, 4:45 i notice you say you arent sampling in stereo, how do i sample in stereo, theres only one aux plug in this timestamp 4:11, im really new and really would like to know thank you
You could use any secondary stereo out on your mixer to sample in stereo, if I’d want to use similar workflow with my mixer I’d just use the 2-track out.
When you get your whole beat tracked in mono, how do you go about mixing it from there? Thanks for the video!
Hey Tom, if I work on the SP’s I usually don’t do any mixing after I finish the beat. My beats are rather simple and mostly it’s just sample and drums. After I got it all out in the DAW then it’s more about a touch of mastering to slightly improve the sound but when I work on the standalone samplers like SP404 or MPC I am going for that dirty lofi sound. Most often vinyl sim on the 404og is all I need. Also my setup has already changed quite a bit as it’s been a year since I recorded this video and nowadays I am using mostly Ableton and SP404.
