I've been following Rust's development since it launched in 2013. I can still vividly recall the transition from Rust Legacy to Rust Experimental, or the HDRP backport, which was also a huge improvement to the game's visuals. I wish more studios were as dedicated to their games as Facepunch. Rust has come such a long way and I'm really excited to see it get spiced up again! I'm really hyped up for the upcoming jungle biome and other future developments to Rust! I'll gladly follow its development for another decade.
My only complaint for this new terrain overhaul is that the black rocks that spawn in the water dont match any of the other rocks in the game. I dont know how the environment artist missed this, but if you look closely, no other rocks in the entire game are that dark shade. They would look wayyy better if they just raised the albedo value. Edit: apparently they fixed the color value so the rock formations are no longer pitch black.
hopefully they have been working on tweaking that a little this month, maybe they made them darker so they stand out for people who are testing the new map on AUX02?
@@closeconscious Contrast is not always a good thing. These water rock formations have super high contrast, not because of a ultra interesting design, or silhouette, but because the color of the rock is so wildly different from every other rock next to it, and so it sticks out like a sore thumb. A pitch black rock in a sea of light gray rocks, is not natural looking at all, and defies the laws of nature. For example, If you go to the grand canyon, and walk around, you will never see a monolithic pitch black basalt rock. Every rock you see is going to be a variation of beige sandstone or sand colored shale. Like I said in my original comment, I like the sea rock formations, I just think they need to tweak the color to match the colors of the rocks around them. Those dark beach rocks need more variation in shape and texture. I wonder if ever Rust will get deformable terrain, maybe equally a hustle to change as it is to hardside bases, but an option to design out a feature for a base.

Rivers should have deep sectionns and shallow crossings. This allows players to build fun things like toll bridges, etc. More dynamic than just "sprint through it lol"
I don't know whether this is going to Make it more accessible for people to build compounds in solid areas, or if this is going to be a compound nightmare
This new land generation is exactly what Russ needs not only does it just make the environment more interesting it's more diverse and I definitely see a bright future for rust with the direction it's going. I especially do love the restricting rocks that they've added who help keep big giant clans from building their giant ridiculous bases because these days you can't go on to the server without getting completely destroyed by a board clan with over 30 people who are usually the rudest out of anyone in this game they just have no sympathy and no regard for other others people
only thing im worried about is if the water in the start of rivers/most inland is deep enough for a couple pumps. its a really dope change if it works all along them
@@GrandmaJesus yeah will be good to not need 15 water catchers on a roof just to supply 4 planters away from the beach, as thats where the rivers are atm too..
People with actual game sense going to dominate in this kind of map, and its feels like some kind of nerf for clans as its reduce large areas for building. And hopefully people going to " cook " some nice bases .
With the cliff changes they have killed the cliff base which kinda sucks everything is way to gradual i do think they need to make more gradual cliffs but still need the hard drop cliffs.
I have a feeling the AUX02 preview is showcasing as much as they can, will be nice if its a blend of current and new map details throughout, i went on the AUX server and they have them listed as canyon A and stuff so it seems like thats to show off the differences
They better put more monuments in. I was just spending so much time running on the new map its all just empty terrain by with better graphics and lumps in the ground. literally to traverse the cayon take 30 mins lmao.

god damn i really want to get back into playing rust but my brothers pc memory is full and now im saving to buy one just for this like i got it bad man..im literly drooling due to the map and the amount of base design i want to use ETC and more i really hope i get that new pc soon
those rocks on the beach gives better cover in fire fights.
what about the hitboxes of horses and other vehicles on new terrains?
I'm excited on this update, i think its been a year since i stop playing rust. i definitely coming back for this. only pve though.
lovely that this great game still get updates like this!!!
this update coincides well with welyn's architect arc. Im stoked to ignore pvp & treat this game like minecraft
I wonder if they will update the caves also. I thought they mentioned connections of caves to some underground structures. Great video as usual.
Willjum will enjoy the new terrain, cliffs and islands.
I was a hater for this before but this is just sick, I love this update
Rivers should have deep sectionns and shallow crossings. This allows players to build fun things like toll bridges, etc. More dynamic than just "sprint through it lol"
They should add a mineshaft monument in the new canyon similar to shifty shafts from Fortnite
Maybe make it like the Metro system except it's a mineshaft monument... or a big caves and stuff
Large ice lakes are still going to have GIANT clan bases lol, but this is going to make gameplay way better for solos and smaller groups.
the weather things, the weather used to be crazy but they had to make it less frequent because people complained
I don't know whether this is going to Make it more accessible for people to build compounds in solid areas, or if this is going to be a compound nightmare
Shits going to blow for big clan servers
beautiful! love it so far!
This new land generation is exactly what Russ needs not only does it just make the environment more interesting it's more diverse and I definitely see a bright future for rust with the direction it's going. I especially do love the restricting rocks that they've added who help keep big giant clans from building their giant ridiculous bases because these days you can't go on to the server without getting completely destroyed by a board clan with over 30 people who are usually the rudest out of anyone in this game they just have no sympathy and no regard for other others people
So hyped for my base anvil/god rocks to be back😭😭😭 been waiting
ok now we need the glider for the mountains
only thing im worried about is if the water in the start of rivers/most inland is deep enough for a couple pumps. its a really dope change if it works all along them
I went on AUX and right at the start of it was barely puddles, but only like 10m away was deep enough for pumps id say
@@Silver_Hawk. thanks for letting me know! thats not too bad, more farms and water through the map will be dope, cant wait
@@GrandmaJesus yeah will be good to not need 15 water catchers on a roof just to supply 4 planters away from the beach, as thats where the rivers are atm too..
I just hope I can still build into side of cliffs
Caves that only have underwater entrances would be cool.
those single high rocks = new bunker
People with actual game sense going to dominate in this kind of map, and its feels like some kind of nerf for clans as its reduce large areas for building. And hopefully people going to " cook " some nice bases .
the swimming just needs to be upadated and then the rivers should be made a little deeper
With the cliff changes they have killed the cliff base which kinda sucks everything is way to gradual i do think they need to make more gradual cliffs but still need the hard drop cliffs.
lag factory ☠️☠️
I loved playing the chokeholds in mountains, sad if they are completely removed
I have a feeling the AUX02 preview is showcasing as much as they can, will be nice if its a blend of current and new map details throughout, i went on the AUX server and they have them listed as canyon A and stuff so it seems like thats to show off the differences
THis new change really reminds me of ark generated maps really cool
i wonder how this will affect roaming the map in darkness at night without nvg's
so youre saying these new spoonkid videos are about to be fire
so they made the Forest Raider full skin more op, Thx :
god rocks coming back that's insane
Yessir
If only we could get back the old dense forests.
They better put more monuments in. I was just spending so much time running on the new map its all just empty terrain by with better graphics and lumps in the ground. literally to traverse the cayon take 30 mins lmao.
