Props to your design skills. This is the most interesting foamcore organizer I've seen so far. As soon as I get vaccinated I'll be grabbing up the supplies for this
My first foam core storage. Worked out great. A bit tight in some places but was able to shave down some of the 5mm foam core to make it fit. The pictures for the bottom of the tiles is a a great touch and make setup significantly faster. Thanks so much for the great job.
THANK YOU! I built it with 3mm foamboard which for this type of project I find just as good as your 5mm, keeping all external dimensions, which makes it quite breezy design.
Cheers :) I can only get 5mm in my area so I had to design for that. 3mm would have made the design so much easier as I wouldn't have been so constrained!
Yes, with 3mm + UHU there's actually space for everything and it does not need to be so tough. Amazon? Excellent design, hats off to you, Sir. Still need the player trays though which I intend to modify a bit. Will post some photos on BGG (as I'm fresh out of foamboard). :)
Acquired this game earlier this week, as soon as I opened it I knew I wanted inserts! I've been making your design for a couple of evenings so far and it's going well, takes a lot of time but will be worth it. Not even tried to play the game yet 🤣
This is awesome. I downloaded the files and am looking forward to making this. I am not an engineer by trade so the plans a re a little hard to read compared to some inserts, but I think I am good. Thanks for all your hard work! I really appreciate people who make these for us not so creative types with plans. I was considering a daedalus insert but I think I am going with this.
Just finished this build today. Took a few days, but it's perfect. Holds everything with sleeves and keeps the tuck boxes. All materials purchased for around $20 (although I found the foam board on sale). Absolutely brilliant - thank you friend! I have to ask: are you an engineer? Plans were excellent.
Thanks dude. Glad people are still finding it useful! I was once a software engineer and now dabble in 3D printing as a hobby. I guess some of that has come through in the project :)
Nice. I have a 3d printer and had thought about doing the design for that. Would have allowed the walls to be thinner and it would have been easier to fit everything in! But I was worried about weight and also about making it accessible to everyone. Did you just download the design from Fusion into the STL's? How heavy was it in the end?
Superb layout! I’m gonna do this too for my own game of Gloomhaven. One thing tho, if you move your box with the monster stats to the other side of the miniature boxes, you’ll have less of a problem tipping them over, and maybe, just maybe, you could add bigger dividers for that whole section if you do use 3mm instead of 5mm? Keeps them nicely in place as well as the character envelopes? Anyway, thanks for this showcase, a really cheap way to have it all neat and clean, instead of buying the inlays from either Brokentoken, or Daedalus. Cheers, Mech
Thanks for the comments. Huh, you might be right on switching the ends - I'm going to try that this weekend :) I would have preferred using 3mm for the whole thing but for some reason 3mm is super expensive where I am and the 'dollar store' only carries 5mm. Also, thought about 3d printing it as 2/3mm works great 3d printed, but I found foam core was much faster for prototyping (went through a whole sheet just trying stuff!) and more accessible for everyone. Anyway, thanks again - Enjoy! :)
@@shawncrane5234 Yeah, no problem man. Let us know if switching them around does work, will ya? And also, can't you just ask the dollar store manager if they can order the 3mm and what that might cost you? I'm sure if you ask nicely they might actually do it, or try to find another solution. Yeah, I don't own a 3D printer, nor do I know anyone who actually does, so making this showcase with foam is more accessible for the "common" people out there, but I bet that IF we had the means, it'd look mighty fine indeed. Just make sure that the material printed is light-weight, lol, the box is heavy enough as it is XD And now I have to find a store in MY vicinity that actually sells 3mm as well...lol Thanks for answering quickly, and good luck. Keep making these videos, and your channel may grow out to be a big one ;-) Kind regards, Mech
Wonderful design and execution. I am finishing up this build as we speak. One question: Is there a file for the card dividers? I see the headers, but not the dividers themselves. Thank you.
Hi, I started this project with 3mm foam core but I ran into a few snags with the dimensions as its built with 5mm. Do you perhaps have the measurements if you using 3mm boards? Thanks, I love this insert so I dont want to abandon the project :)
Thanks. Just a standard utility knife, but you need to keep it sharp - something like this: amzn.com/B072QZWMMP. As soon as it starts pulling at the paper or foam then snap the tip to the next segment. I went through several blades over the course of the build, including during prototyping.
@@shawncrane5234 hi thanks for the reply. actually i found a hack that saves a lot of blades. sharpening any exacto or cheap blade lightly on a whetstone completely invigorates the edge. moreso, the blade seems to stay sharper for a lot longer!!!! been using the same blade for 5 months and its doing great!!!
Hi Leonard, it is 5mm foam core. From memory I went through 2 A2 sheets from memory but that had a lot of prototyping. Sorry I don't know the full area of all the pieces.
Hey dude, This is pretty much what I did to get a clean cut: ua-cam.com/video/Y4JXjLhJPqI/v-deo.html. The multiple cuts were key. I also used a very sharp pencil to mark it out and a square for some larger pieces to ensure they were square. Thanks.
9591,39 cm², at least!!! (source: boardgamegeek.com/filepage/143985/gloomhaven-foamcore-insert-rlphay ) I have calculated how much Foamcore (5mm) you would need to make this, so for anyone interested in making this, you need this amount exactly, but just make sure you have some extra, as I'm sure (I hope not, but I'm sure) you'll make a few mistakes here and there. I've studied all the measurements in great detail, also correcting a few 'x2' if there was no indication added, and without cutting anything away (like with the "Items/Scenario Goals and Combat Modifiers") you would need to have at least 9591,39 cm² of foamcore. It wasn't easy, but I thought I'd answer this for you, since ppl asked...LOL One thing, I noticed your inlays vary a bit, for example the traps and treasure chest inlay is smaller and square shaped, so the measurements may vary a bit here (just pointing out). Good luck everyone! EDIT: Of course, for 3mm you'd need less, but I'd have to calculate that in case anyone wonders -> might be continued...LOL
Forgive me, it was around 2.30am for me when I answered (and around 1.30am when I posted the original calculations, yeah, it took me quite some time...lol). I took a look at *your* link, and it is indeed a very different one, so in order to measure the total cm²s I'll need to recalculate everything...lol.

I opened Gloomhaven for the first time today. I will be adopting your setup I do like it all in one and so well organised. Thank you.

Well done on building it as your first! Glad you like it. We both picked a doozy of a foam core storage solution for our first build :)
Thank you for doing this. Just downloaded your plans. They are the best I've seen. Looking forward to building it.

Thank you very much for posting this. I just finished making mine and your plans worked great. Thanks again.
Glad you liked it :)
Great job! Im gonna try your solution. Greeting from Chile!!
Thanks. Hope you find it useful :)
Thank you, it is so much more fun with your insert
you are truly a legend, thank you man

I built your design, except I translated it to a 3d printer, instead of foam core. It works nice.

The separators on the last two pages do not specify the dimensions. What dimensions do I have to make them with?
Thank you
your cuts are very clean and it gives the trays a nice smooth look. what knife did you use?

Hey man, Can you tell me what kind of foamcore you used, how thik and how many plates of foamcore a need to build this
Hi Leonard, it is 5mm foam core. From memory I went through 2 A2 sheets from memory but that had a lot of prototyping. Sorry I don't know the full area of all the pieces.
do you have a download for the divides that's printable?
Great job mate. try to sell finished sets ...
On your build, are the player packs the only part that has multiples build?
Hey Chris, sorry for the slow reply. I think so. I'll double check when I get home in a couple of days.
Do you have any tips how you cut it so precise?
steel ruler and Xacto knife (sharp)
