Innovation is my submission for this list. So many insane interactions possible but such a drive for endgame pressuring you away from goofing off too much.
⭐️ PLEASE do more board game challenges! I love your scavenger hunt, collection on one shelf, blindfold challenges! Your challenge videos are always so funny and entertaining, I really wish you guys uploaded challenges more regularly (monthly)
Great list! Y'all make me want Ginkgopolis so bad. I would say At the Gates of Loyang, It's A Wonderful World, Calico/Cascadia, and maybe Harvest which is new to my collection. I love your channel, fellas!
7 Wonders: Duel is shockingly deep. We thought we had played it out into a specific predictable meta, stopped playing for a long time, and then when we picked it up again we completely broke that meta to the point that anybody can win (well usually me) any game regardless of the cards they can get. Ie. I got almost no resource cards, absolutely getting clobbered but I pulled out the scientific victory.
Great list, Nusfjord is my favorite game next to Gaia Project. I love how fast Nusfjord plays and how thinky it can be! Curious Cargo could be here too with players who know the game. Glassroad is my intro to Rosenberg for new players.
Thanks for the video, and helping me to get eyebrows again. I was a teen in the 90's when eyebrow shaving was cool, if only I had known the future consequences, lol. I hadn't tried some of your Uve picks or even Furnace, but I plan to try it out now. It has so many of my favorite mechanics.
Excellent list gentlemen. Some fantastic selections. A personal favorite that has grown on me recently has been Galileo Project. I am impressed by what this game is able to accomplish in a short amount of time.
I love that there are 2 Uwes on here! Was finally able to pick up Nusfjord and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I traded away Glass road because I didn't care for the resource wheel or the small print on the buildings but now that it's on BGA I may have to give it another shot!
A lot of old-school German games would fit here. For example, Samurai and Thru the Desert. When I found this hobby, I was impressed by how a "full game" could take less than an hour. You could regard the two games I mention as like "Surf and Turf": you can fit them both into the same time slot as many "main course" games.
Nice list, nothing wrong with it. Other ideas include It's A Wonderful World and Splendor Duel. My bizarro pick is Boop. It's deeper than people think if you're both playing defensively.
Love to see White Castle on here! Such a great game and it's always so quick to play for us at 2 players. The game length on the box isn't really accurate imo!
I love the new setup! It may be helpful to move the camera back a bit, or get a wider lense, because as someone who watches on a laptop, it is a bit weird shifting between both of you on the opposite sides of the screen :)
I absolutely love Legacy of Yu. I haven't had a chance to try the others you've listed (other than Ginkopolis on BGA, it's a fun game!), but I hope to get to do so soon!
I am thinking of Arboretum, White Castle and Hansa Teutonica. Gingkopolis is a great choice. Train games like Irish Gage and Iberian Gage are also quick and strategic.
Arboretum, Hens, & the new Harmonies game are all ones that challenge me a lot with quick gameplay. There are a lot of card games I feel like that are deceptively tricky. Dig is a really tiny one (Pack o Games) but it's challenging (at least for me!).
Nearly any decent CCG would fit in this list. Games tend to be quite fast, but there is a lot of depth to each game. I'll also mention: * Starship Catan, which was part of the Kosmos 2-player line and has a lot of variability in play and good depth in a short time. * Medieval Merchant: Excellent at any number from 2-6, and because of the way it works, it takes about as long regardless of the number.
Have you guys played any Carl Chudyk games? I've seen a few of these types of lists from your channel (big games in a small box, etc.), and I always enjoy them. But I feel like everything Carl Chudyk has made (except for Bear Valley and Red 7) pretty much fits this description (Innovation, Glory to Rome, Impulse, Mottainnai, Uchronia, Aegean Sea, etc.). So if you haven't ever played a Carl Chudyk game, do yourselves a favor and try some out!!!! :) Thanks for these lists and all of your awesome content!!!! :) Have a blessed day!!!! P.S. The White Castle and Gingkopolis are both fantastic!!!! Thanks especially for highlighting Gingkopolis. It's kind of a forgotten gem at this point!!!! :)
Finally understanding how good War Chest is now if you would just give Smash Up! a fair chance each box is a expansion which gives u plenty of diff decks i have them all we use a combo of a D4 and a D20 to pick our decks never know what you'll smash up into a deck.
What do you guys think about Watergate for this list? 🤔 Great list! I thought i was the only one who liked furnace weirdly 😅 I'm convinced to buy War chest!
Great picks! I was intrigued by Furnace for a long time, but I have It's a Wonderful World, and I wonder if it would be redundant to have both of those games, because they seem to be similar. What do you think?
If you like Race/Roll, you should check out Jump Drive. Not quite as deep as the other two, but it’s lightning fast. Also, while it’s obviously very difficult/nigh impossible to get a hold of, Glory to Rome is incredibly fast for the mind-numbing experience you get from it. The good news is that Mottainai, which you CAN get, is equally as brain-burning, and probably even faster.
This list contains so many of the picks I would have made. I really should check out Ginkgopolis, although the weirdness seems hard to teach my wife (my main gaming partner). My addition to this list would be a recent fav, Dragonkeepers by Kosmos. Have you played it? I have enjoyed it a lot for a weeknight game with a good brain burn
If I’m going to take the time to setup and play a game, I want it to be a minimum of one hour. Preferable 3 or more. I know I don’t represent the majority in this but if I’m there to game, I want to game.
Well if you really wanna a brain burner strategy game, then I might suggest Pax Renaissance: 2nd Edition. Every 2p game in BGA I've had are in 12-48 min range. So from a nice burning sting to a long burner.
I love Roll for the Galaxy while I don't like Race. It's probably because scouting becomes too weak after a while in Race, you may not necessarily profit from other players when they chose to produce and sell as selling comes before producing in the round structure. Military strength is too strong as you no longer need to pay for your cards. Then there is a couple cards that give you a discount for building developments or worlds, others give you cards back after developing/settling and in the end you might only pay 2 cards for a 6 cost development. And it is probably too easy finding strong combinations when selling Alien technology or scout +5.
ARBORETUMMMMMMMMMMM Hehe. My wife and I have found Carcassonne at 2p deceptively deep. Mainly when you play it as a scorched earth war on who gets what. But you need Inns & Cathedrals, and Traders & Builders expansions. It seriously is a masterpiece.
I've always been interested in Furnace, but mostly play 2 player games, so I've avoided it bc of the auction system. But if the Murphs enjoy it... How do others feel about this game at 2 players?
Roll for the Galaxy beats for Race for the Galaxy. Its problem is that it's very easy to make non-intentational cheating on the dice manipulation that happens behind the player's shield (with no possibility of surveilance by the other players).
Legacy of Yu There are stickers that one may buy to put on the game pieces. Cost is around $20.00. I know, twenty bucks for stickers and I already paid how much for the game? But they're cute. They are cute. Cute? Q: What are you, gay? A: Shhh, my momma doesn't know. Oh wait she dead, nevermind the Shhh.
I do not like 7 wonders duel though I sincerely wanted to. There’s multiple tracks to victory but I don’t feel like there’s any genuine depth to it. A lot of it is randomization on which part of the pyramid you start and what choices open up to you. Replayable but not incredible.
I really dislike your two person camera angle. It’s way too tight. The single head shot are great and well composed, every time you go back to the two persons shot, it irks… Still love the content and your new studio. Just wish this specific thing was otherwise…
The King is Dead fits the bill for me. Only 8 actions, but you can choose when to use them and dispute, or when to just pass and let things lie. Multiple end-gane conditions... it's a great game.
Happiest times of life:
1. Wedding Day
2. Subscribing to the Bros Murph
3. Birth of my children
4. Playing board games with my wife and children
We feel like we should have been first, but we'll take second
Guys, you need to move your chairs closer together, you’re on the edge of the screen 😂
OMG your graph skit was hilarious. I bought beer and bread because of your review in it and we okay quite often, great game
Innovation is my submission for this list. So many insane interactions possible but such a drive for endgame pressuring you away from goofing off too much.
Immediately thought of White Castle when you mentioned this list! So glad it’s on here. Can’t wait for the expansion!!
⭐️ PLEASE do more board game challenges! I love your scavenger hunt, collection on one shelf, blindfold challenges!
Your challenge videos are always so funny and entertaining, I really wish you guys uploaded challenges more regularly (monthly)
Sooooooon!
Yay! I love the challenges also! Can’t wait to see more!!
Fantastic picks! Here are a few of my mine right off the top of my head: The Bloody Inn, Kashgar, Three Sisters, Space Explorers, and Turing Machine.
Turing Machine is a great choice!
My add-ons to this list would be Res Arcana and Hansa Teutonica
Tir Na Nog needs to be on this list! Simple, elegant. Super crunchy and great with any number (1-4) players.
I got Ginkopolous based on one of your previous videos a while back--LOVE that game!
Furnace is awesome - I bought it after watching your playthrough and it was an instant favourite. Thanks for sharing!
So glad you enjoyed it!
I love this list. Red cathedral is good also. Its a wonderful world and many tiny epic games.
Great list! Y'all make me want Ginkgopolis so bad. I would say At the Gates of Loyang, It's A Wonderful World, Calico/Cascadia, and maybe Harvest which is new to my collection.
I love your channel, fellas!
Furnace and white castle are definitely great! Pretty deep and short but still fun. Gotta try a few others in this video
You guys are looking great, and so is your new space!
We want to try that one!
It plays at around 40-45 minutes and if you like bumping tracks, there are 4 of them to maximize, so that is a check in the yes please column😂
No Oranienburger Kanal? Haven’t played it yet but it does seem like a good fit for this list and I know you loved it.
This was a fun list. Glad Glass Road gets love.
Warchest!!! My number one game ❤
Good list. I would add Rumble Nation which is a great tactical area majority game that you can play in half an hour.
Love that game!
Can confirm Brothers Murph subscription = happiness.
Will you guys be doing a Glass Road playthrough?
Hopefully at some point!
I love that there are 2 Uwes on here! Was finally able to pick up Nusfjord and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I traded away Glass road because I didn't care for the resource wheel or the small print on the buildings but now that it's on BGA I may have to give it another shot!
Uwe is the best!
"maybe he has alopecia".... nick i almost spit out my bagel. hahahahahaha
I do often think "Sassqueen will think this is funny"
A lot of old-school German games would fit here. For example, Samurai and Thru the Desert. When I found this hobby, I was impressed by how a "full game" could take less than an hour. You could regard the two games I mention as like "Surf and Turf": you can fit them both into the same time slot as many "main course" games.
I feel like so many Knizia games can fit this list
Nice list, nothing wrong with it. Other ideas include It's A Wonderful World and Splendor Duel. My bizarro pick is Boop. It's deeper than people think if you're both playing defensively.
I believe it would be easy to fill the entire top10 with abstracts :)
As others have mentioned, Res Arcana is definitive for this list. Even set up and clean up is super fast and simple.
good call!
Tribes of the Wind is one of those for us. Except for one time we invited one of our really chatty friends and that game took 4 hours.
Warchest is great. The Duke should also be on this list.
Really good list guys
I absolutely love Legacy of Yu. I haven't had a chance to try the others you've listed (other than Ginkopolis on BGA, it's a fun game!), but I hope to get to do so soon!
The thinking man's quick hit - just like the thumbnail 👍
I am thinking of Arboretum, White Castle and Hansa Teutonica. Gingkopolis is a great choice. Train games like Irish Gage and Iberian Gage are also quick and strategic.
Just letting you guys know that I unsubscribed from your channel...just so I could resubscribe!! Bing bong, boom, baby!
@@larrytedmcbride the real mvp!
You had us in the first half
I love Ginkopolis and glass road.
You’re making me consider picking up White Castle and Nusfjord!
Great idea for a list.
Arboretum, Hens, & the new Harmonies game are all ones that challenge me a lot with quick gameplay. There are a lot of card games I feel like that are deceptively tricky. Dig is a really tiny one (Pack o Games) but it's challenging (at least for me!).
I’m glad NASAG got back to you with that important and accurate info! 😅
I subscribed just because of the beginning
Nearly any decent CCG would fit in this list. Games tend to be quite fast, but there is a lot of depth to each game.

Crown of Emara was the first game that came to mind for me.
Finally subscribed bc of this vid. Lol. You earned it.
yesssssssss
Great topic!
Finally understanding how good War Chest is now if you would just give Smash Up! a fair chance each box is a expansion which gives u plenty of diff decks i have them all we use a combo of a D4 and a D20 to pick our decks never know what you'll smash up into a deck.
River of gold surprise me on how short it was for a euro , superb production to with a little assymetric module in it
I subscribed, that was very convincing with the chart.
Yussssssssssss
Or you could be like me: subscribed, happy, AND no eyebrows because of alopecia!
Maybe I should have picked up Ginkgopolis at goodwill yesterday. 🤔
White Castle is the game that I think about first with this list. Also Ginkgopolis is the best game ever it’s so good.
Yupppppp
Dig the new cozy camera setup
Thanks!
Though i havent played it yet, it sounds like Res Arcana would be good for this list?
Apparently Cyberpunk plays in 10 minutes and is pretty good.
What do you guys think about Watergate for this list? 🤔
Great list! I thought i was the only one who liked furnace weirdly 😅 I'm convinced to buy War chest!
I(Nick) love Watergate, but Mikey hasn't played it yet. But I think it's a great choice for this list
Great picks! I was intrigued by Furnace for a long time, but I have It's a Wonderful World, and I wonder if it would be redundant to have both of those games, because they seem to be similar. What do you think?
played both. completely different itches to scratch.
..."put them in chess"
😂🤣💀
The cowards won't do it

It was trying Jump Drive with Terminal Velocity if you like Race for the Galaxy and have only 30min
We haven't had a chance to try Jump drive yet
i like.very good 🧡🙏🏼
I love Roll for the Galaxy while I don't like Race. Most brainburn/minute in my collection as per player count:
5P: Earth
4P: Sagrada
3P: Honey Buzz
2P: Marabunta
1P: Under Falling Skies
Sagrada is a good one. Love that game.
ARBORETUMMMMMMMMMMM
Hehe. My wife and I have found Carcassonne at 2p deceptively deep. Mainly when you play it as a scorched earth war on who gets what. But you need Inns & Cathedrals, and Traders & Builders expansions. It seriously is a masterpiece.
2p Carcassonne can be brutal!
Gizmos would be good for this list
Where did you guys get the blue Victorian wallpaper with the dragons??? 🐉
Nusfjord ❤❤
Hansa Teutónica short and great 😃
Hive is really low time frame but good depth. I’d liken it to war chest but possibly quicker and portable too!
I've always been interested in Furnace, but mostly play 2 player games, so I've avoided it bc of the auction system. But if the Murphs enjoy it... How do others feel about this game at 2 players?
Honorable Mention: Unmatched
We discussed putting this one on. There is a full blown tournament scene for it now
Is the “Gumball Machine of Destiny” back?
Roll for the Galaxy beats for Race for the Galaxy. Its problem is that it's very easy to make non-intentational cheating on the dice manipulation that happens behind the player's shield (with no possibility of surveilance by the other players).
How about Tekhenu?? Only 16 actions to execute.
Did you guys swipe the gum ball machine?
Number 10 is the game from russian terrorists.

Been trying to patron-ize but the link doesn’t work l 🤷🏻♂️

get wrecked Race for the Galaxy fans!!!
Legacy of Yu

You guys are really zoomed in on that wide shot. Nick is barely in frame.
Yeah we're still trying to figure out our framing for that wide shot. We don't want it too far back, but this one was definitely too close
I like my eyebrows
I swear to god Uwe board games all look the exact same 😂
Honestly, you ain’t wrong
Subscribe skit game on point.
Ayeee
I really dislike your two person camera angle. It’s way too tight. The single head shot are great and well composed, every time you go back to the two persons shot, it irks… Still love the content and your new studio. Just wish this specific thing was otherwise…
We're still working out the framing for that wide shot
The King is Dead fits the bill for me. Only 8 actions, but you can choose when to use them and dispute, or when to just pass and let things lie. Multiple end-gane conditions... it's a great game.
We've heard great things about The King is Dead
Glass Road and Roll for the G came to my mind too. So crunchy and done in under an hour, leaving you wanting more when it ends. 🙁📉🙂📈
