1.Setup - this contains all the monster card slips as well as the Curse/Blessing cards, one time perk quests, the monster attack modifier deck and my extra character attack modifier deck
2. Boss - all the bosses and their one attack modifier deck
3. Guards & Archers - this includes Inox guards and Inox archers (there is only one attack modifier deck for Guards and one for Archers, so I had to split up my Inox grouping)
4. Imp/Shamans/Scouts - this contains the Inox Shamans and the Vermiling Shamans due to the same issue with the guard and archer attack modifier decks

Great News Everybody! Chico and Jo have re-released their 5" Kraft Pizza boxes on Amazon. Please check out the description above for updating Amazon links. If you want to hold out for a 9 count set, Chico and Jo will be releasing a Gloomhaven specific set on their Etsy sight soon. I will add those links as I receive them. Yes, the boxes are slightly bigger, but only the width of the cardboard all the way around. I tested the new boxes in my copy of Gloomhaven and the storage solution still works. I filmed a short video of the new boxes in action and I will be uploading that soon.
Great video on organizing the game... I just got my game yesterday and am buying the stuff you gave mentioned in your link as well. One thing am not able to find is the file that you use to hold the item cards. I can only find 3 ring binder but that's too bulky. Appreciate if you can give a link for a sample product similar to the file that you used
@@NaanRaaja What you are looking for are simple file folders with 3 prongs/brads/metal fasteners (pockets are optional). I had some in house already but I would recommend going to a local Wal-Mart or office supply store if you are able because Amazon is going to make you buy in bulk and you only need 2. The best I could find on Amazon was a 4 pack for $5.

@@TheMeepleMarathon I am not sure if you are interested but I created some tops for the storage boxes (1 for each of the 8 charecter boxes). They have the charecter pictures for easy visual reference. I did them in publisher. Let me know and I can get them to you.

Thank you for sharing your storage methods. Even when I get my card sheets and folders, sleeves, and dice I will be way under the 100 dollar amount for the pre built organizers.
Got the game for 80 one an Amazon deal. So I'm 110 in on the game so far.
It's tradition for me to bring a game to Thanksgiving/Christmas to play with my brothers. Thanks again for sharing your organization strategy. I can't wait to hop into the world of Gloomhaven.

For anyone who is having trouble finding the boxes online right now, I have actually been in conversations with the dealers themselves. Supposedly they changed the boxes slightly (don't worry, they sent me some samples and they still fit) and are working on getting the new boxes listed. From our conversations, it sounds like they will be creating a Gloomhaven package specifically for this solution that includes 9 total boxes (instead of 8) and other storage items that would be useful.
As of noon Pacific time on Friday, February 8, Amazon had 6 of the 8 packs in stock and available for $8.99.
I don't suppose they'll let you know when/if they release their Gloomhaven packages?

@@TheMeepleMarathon Gotcha! For some reason I'd thought that these were assembled by a 3rd party. Hmm, the shipping costs make it really hard to justify vs. the Amazon listing if you need only that 9th pizza box. I don't suppose they have an option for that yet?
@@carternelms5324 They have been willing to work with me in the past. I had recommended they increase their box count to 9 or 10 on their Amazon listing as well, but I'm not sure why they did not go that route. I would reach out to them through their Etsy store. They are very easy to work with.

Thank you so much, this is a really great solution that cut almost all my setup time and made my group join the game night much much more. I managed to spend almost 0 making the traps and obstacles containers with some spare cardboard I had from an amazon delivery. Thank you so much!

i got the boxes for 6 dol each. the folders for 2 each and the inserts for 10 (5 usd for each set of 10 sheets). the decks on french amazon were 15 usd (had to get 5 bad quality ones), and i didn't even get the pizza boxes yet... total (without the pizza boxes: 31 usd. pizza boxes i'll try get later down the line and use plastic bags in the mean time.
Thanks. I am on it. I ordered the pizza boxes and have one craft box that is close to your Michael's box dims. Ignoring cost feel your solution is better than Broken Token or Daedalus.

Finally got this game- I plan to implement all of your tips to make it easier to navigate. I’m excited to play and I think making the setup time more efficient breaks the stigma of these games being to difficult to setup, therefore “not worth it“...but if a game of Scrabble or Monopoly or Cards Against Humanity can take an hour+... why not something more rich and exciting?

i sure wish i would have watched this before i wasted 70 bucks on the e raptor insert,that item is garbage.i spent an hour working on that and after a few of the tabs breaking i said hell with it and put it up in the attic.im so happy i seen this video thanks for making it im ordering these things right now.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I needed to pull my copy of Gloomhaven out to make sure I got this right. Here is how I have the boxes broken down ...

A quick helpful hint:
On the bead boxes, the Michaels site has it listed as 10x7. This WILL NOT FIT.
It needs to be 10x5 in order to fit in the side. Trust me. It'll save you the headache of running around.
I did find that Michael's is the only one to have the dimensions needed. JoAnns and Hobby Lobby didn't have the 10x5.
I just picked up the ones that he had listed for Michaels and they fit perfectly. I think the website has their scale listed wrong.
@@Mhworley agreed. Getting the 10 slot box at 10x5 is what you need to look for specifically.

Thought the mini pizza box thing was a great idea. Got them for myself but they don't fit in my box the same way as in yours. Putting them next to the character boxes is too tight. I can stuff them in, but then the box bows out a bit. Maybe this has something to do with your comment about the new versions of the boxes. Really wish I had seen that before I ordered. I'm making do with only 8 boxes ATM
I tested the new boxes and even though they were a more snug fit, they did not appear to push the box out when inserted. My box however does bow a little on it's own. I think this is just from the sheer amount of content it has held over the past year. I never have a problem getting the lid back on though. I have removed some of my character boxes (all those I'm not currently using), to make room for 3 photo storage boxes. These photo boxes are the perfect size to hold each characters decks, stat board, miniature, etc. and fit perfectly in that space. This may be the difference in my set up. I like the photo boxes because it makes it very easy to pull out what each player needs and hand them their box to set up their character themselves.
I had the same problem with a set of 8 white 5" boxes from the same source. Placing them in the orientation shown in the video pushed the sides of the box out enough to make me switch to eight boxes in two sets of four rotated 90 degrees from the orientation in the video.
Since I'm storing the map tiles, rules and scenarios in an alphabetized accordian file folder outside the box, I have a ninth box of similar dimensions to the 5" pizza boxes laying flat on top of the map which contains the setup stuff.

How do you have the cards sorted in your card pages? Ascending numerical? With all of the same card number in one slot?
Yes, I have the grouped together based upon when they would be unlocked (i keep the pages that we have not unlocked yet flipped backwards). Then they are in ascending order by number and duplicate cards share the same slot.

Do you have the Battle Goal, Random Scenario, Room Deck, Monster Dec, personal quests and and attack modifier decks all in one box? or are those split into your second Ultra Pro deck box?
Can you post a link/description to all the items you used for storage in one post...ie sleeves for all cards...is one set of 400 enough-that link looks to be just for the small cards? The pizza boxes..such a great idea! How many inserts should I get? Should I only get the business card inserts?

@@jerrywitt8039 Yes, the bead boxes should be 10x5x1. The issue is with Michael's website. The picture they are showing is the 10x5 box (2 rows). Their description of the box is wrong. I believe if you were to actually order the box, the correct 10x5 would show up. Someone else commented on this below. But yes, if you go into an actual store, make sure you buy a 10x5 storage container with 2 rows of 5.
I'm implementing this! I went out and got the boxes and I had some deck boxes around. But what are your boxes catogories? I got

@@TheMeepleMarathon Hi - some excellent tips there !! I'm just setting up my own boxes. I've put the One Time Perk Quest Cards in one of the spare business cards slots. And all of player 4's stuff in an archive box.

It's from Lord of the Rings :Two Towers soundtrack. I believe it is the Helm's Deep track.
Really like this system. Especially since there are multiple types of archers, guards, etc but one set of cards it is nice to have them all together. If I removed the tiles to an accordion folder do you think there would be room to leave in the foam inserts for the monster tiles like show on boardgamegeek.com/thread/1732757/gloomhaven-monster-standees-organization-solution/page/1 ? I already cut those out for the monsters and I kind of like the look of it but it does take more space.
Second question: how many of those business card pages do you need? I've not dug into the item cards yet so I don't know how they need to be laid out but the pages come in packs of ten. Is 20 enough? More? Thanks!
To answer your first question, if I remove my map tiles and keep my over-world fold-out map in the box, I have approximately 1.75" but I also have the campaign guide, rulebook, and market card folders that still need to go in the box. In the BGG post, I only see 3 sets of foam holders, which doesn't seem like enough but I could be wrong. Assuming you could arrange them all in one layer, this method may work.
To answer your second question, I have two folders of business card holders. One folder holds just the market cards and there is a separate page (10 total) for each level of the market you can unlock due to your prosperity, so almost all the pages have several blank slots. The second folder is for the secret items that are unlocked during campaign quests and from treasure tiles. There are 7 total sheets for these. So I have 17 total sheets but you could probably get away with less.

Ryan, Will the cards fit into the business card pages after they are sleeved?
Yes, in fact they actually fit a little better sleeved. Non-sleeved cards have a tendency to slide out of the pockets if you hold the page upright for too long. Sleeved, they fit in there a little tighter and tend to slide out less on their own.

I purchased mine at my local game shop (Game Theory in Raleigh, NC), but they are Ultra Pro brand deck boxes, I believe they were advertised to hold 3 full sized decks so 150 cards each. Here is something similar on Amazon a.co/d/cVxRpsL
Looking at the Amazon listing, mine are probably the standard size so 80-100 cards.
Where did you get the sleeves for the smaller cards? Like the enemy guard cards. Also those pizza craft boxes are out of stock. Do you know where else I can get them?

As for the mini pizza boxes, I know they have them in white and brown but I haven’t seen them anywhere else. Possibly at Michael’s or another craft store? I find a lot of good storage stuff at Michael’s. I’ll look around and see if I can find them elsewhere
I've been trying to find the pizza boxes as well. I can tell you Hobby Lobby and Michael's by me don't carry anything like that. I did find these at Office Depot which have the same dimensions (5"x5"x1") but the cost and number you get are significantly higher: bit.ly/2SFJwgK
I haven't been able to find anything else to substitute for the mini pizza boxes but I also haven't bought these yet so I can't say how well they fit in the box using the layout in the video.

I just got finished doing pretty much everything in the video, and the box is kinda stretching/expanding, yet I was able to fit everything and the box top still slip on well. I'm just afraid it's gonna rip or tear at the corners. thoughts?
James L I have been setting up and breaking down my copy of Gloomhaven for quite a while now. I don’t have room to keep it all set up between plays so the storage solution gets a lot of use and my box integrity is fine. One thing I did do, after a few times of transporting the heavy box around, was to remove all the character boxes (the ones with the action cards, modifiers, etc, not the minis) we weren’t using. This not only made the box lighter but gave me room to put 3 photo storage boxes in that empty space. The photo storage boxes hold each character currently being played (attack modifiers, action cards, item cards, mini, etc.) and there is room leftover for the small map tiles. Maybe this will help keep your overall box from getting stressed.

@@TheMeepleMarathon I went ahead and removed all the characters and minis currently not in use. So there's only 4 character boxes and minis now, and I've gotta say it's amazing. (Perspective top down like in your video) I line up the pizza boxes vertically off to the right side, stacked ead boxes in the middle, stacked character boxes lying flat on the right side. I have everything else fitting in cartridges and deck boxes etc on the ground floor of the box in the leftover space. Then I pretty much stack up the tiles on top of the character boxes and bead boxes and it kinda up perfectly with the height of the pizza boxes. The I lay the board and books and folder on that. Plenty of space still and box is alot lighter, plus it's not stretching or expanding!

I'm following this but one question what is in the second deck box
One deck box holds all the Road Events and the other deck box holds all the City Events. I believe I placed the random dungeon cards into one of them.

I liked seeing your storage solution, but I did find the loud, epic music to be distracting.
Dice?
I use the dice to track HP on monsters stat cards and on summons. Just rotate the dice down as you hit the monsters. Much cleaner than using the HP counters included in the game.
Why dice? The game doesnt use dice
I used dice to track damage to the monsters. Was much easier than tracking with the damage chits.
