I miss your intro.... the window, the rain, I love it
I liked that they changed from time to time.
@@UnwittingSweater yea but now theres no intro...
The old one was really superb
the one cable to the monitor is CLEAN
A sub $200 computer that can do so much without jacking up your electric bill? Sweet!
Look great to me, someone who doesn't game on any pc. I think this would work for me since I'm a senior who read email, uses Office 365, surfs the web, watches movies and listens to my music. 👍🏻
For sure. Just get a USB C dock that has enough juice to power it and it is a slick little setup.
I would love to see what the S100 can do with Ubuntu Linux!
Wish there was a 16GB option
I'm seriously considering getting one of these for my RV, because of the price, size, and power consumption. This could run on solar basically forever.
There are power banks that can be charged while using them, that could work as a cheap ups :)
Great use case. with POE and the right POE switch you can have an entirely DC power chain. (or with the right adapter for the barrel jack)
Loving the lil plant aesthetic eta
Yeah be interested in seeing Manjaro or Mint on that! 🐧
Need Endeavour OS on that
because it will be different to the other hundred minipcs using n100 cpu? 😂
Mint? 🤔
@@betag24cn
The usecases are very different once you look at a running of one port (without using wifi). Poe+ makes this one hell of a Linux server
@@betag24cn I'd say it's more about full compatibility with all the hardware. Intel and AMD have great compatibility with CPU but other component manufacturers don't.
If they had one for about $200 with usb4 and 16GB of ram, it would be a done deal for me. But i definitely need that usb4.
I could use a mini egpu that has PD charging.
This is a great competitor to the Raspberry Pi 5.
they have very different scope of application.
Seems like the perfect solution for updating firmware for my handheld gadgets, and mini arcades.
You are one of the best reviewers sonce you talk about the power consumption. Really important with the ever rising cost of electricity
I would love to see this in a setup replacing a smart TV/streaming device and how it would compare to say a Fire TV Stick MAX or Apple TV. This is getting really close to the prices of the beefiest set top boxes.
If this can be done with some remote accessory, it could be a great alternative to those devices finding new fun ways to flood my TV with ads.
That's exactly what I did with a similar N100 powered stick. Works great on Windows 11 with the Jellyfin Media Player. I bought a $15 remote from Newegg which works well.
for that your really better off with one of those old micro office pcs with a 7700t or 8500t. Costs less and you can upgrade the ram and storage.
Maybe it has some potential as tv box replacement? Some linux distro with Kodi on top and some remote.
What a time to be alive! 👍
Dang - I love that BIOS UI
Glad you tested Fallout 3. I personally would just like to see more people testing the limits of what the n100 can do.
intel for a long time ia not good for games on such mini-pc or small portable consoles. n100 is very poor cpu. mini-pc for similar price easly may be on much powerful ryzen.
You dirty dog!! I mean not really - but I read that as $100, and was like, ohhhh what's this. My stupid eyes took a min to realize it's S100 lol
So maybe Minisforum is the dirty dog
Apparently it's just under 200$ per the site visit during the review... So that's honestly not bad.
Samo, samo! 🙄
Same. Had to hit the minisforum website as the video was playing and saw real price 😂
pensé que eran $100 😂
Same
This would make a killer retro gaming box or homelab option and even HTPC box
Deffo a Homelab style potential with this device
Dude these mini PC's are fwcki g amazing. We came along way since the rassbery pay. That is very cool. Personaly i am using my samsung with dex from time to time.
som (system on module) appeared much earlier than raspberry. yes, and with x86 cpu too.
This is awesome 🔥
Hi ETA! Great video! Every time I see your videos I get jealous of your wallpapers, could you share them please? Thanks!!
Ordered one yesterday to replace an old 18.3" HP laptop that's gotten old in the tooth. Dell UltraSharp 24" and a backlit wireless keyboard complete the setup.
ha ha ha great video, so this minis forums s100 story popped up in my news feed yesterday, and my first thought was " I wonder if ETAPrime was going to do a gaming video, on this model and here it is brilliant. I think we should take the tdp all the way up as far as it goes and if you have to point a desk fan all over it, that would make one helluva video anywho great to see
Love them sbsc and mini pcs every day they keep getting better even consider getting rid of my main machine and going itx micro atx at least cause been seeing some prices and its is expensive for the pretty stuff
Know what video I would watch - over and over again - if you'd do something like a top 10 or best 3 in each price category for retro. Like under $100 top 3 devices, under ~$200, etc...
It's hard to go through all your videos when i'm making recommendations to friends to find what the best device is today launchbox and retro.
Interesting choice of font for the specs hehe, anyway I would like to see installing blustacks playing some android games on these N series intel chips. Some slot games and such.
This is what I was looking for
its very poor as mini-pc. for similar price you can buy much more better mini pc.
this panda is just som (system on module) for embended purposes (mainly as dev board with start extender board). there are a lot of anothers som (with or without extender board). for embended purposes if you need a lot of gpio/interfaces sometime better get single board (something like raspberry, lattepanda,...) with cpu that yoy need (on arm, x86,... with or without fpga,...).
@@aleph_one thanks , I was still looking to, i find these mini pcs so interesting an i need one for mum, i have an rx 6700 xt build for myself so ye but need a mini pc for livingroom, something $100 or lower cost, i'll check what you suggested :)
@@aleph_one planning on using ubuntu which is more efficient than windows
I wish this had 16GB of RAM, but PoE and USB-C powered is really nice for powering through a DC load.
Those disk speeds are faster than the msata ssd on my n100 mini!
Damn.... I know the Morefine M6 with the N200 you reviewed the other day didn't feel worth it to get rid of my Intel N5105 off brand mini PC for.
But that PoE is REALLY comfortable since I leave it plugged in all day as a linux server and removing a power cable + extension cord would be worth getting this.
Linux makes everything better. Bring on the Linux video for this little guy!
Second this
yeah linux onboard sounds interesting
Hey ETA PRIME. Love your videos!
Can you tell me, how is the noise? The fan is noisy or you can't hear it?
Nice little machine!
This might make an awesome arcade pc to run lightguns and MAME.
It's great to be able to put this in the car
I have a hub with similar ports that, at best 1/4 that size. That is insane.
1:48 THIS! I needed this so much oh God!
Curious if it will work with USB hub on monitor, so you would trully plug single cable.
And I wish it had 12Gb of RAM
Thanks for the video! Does this unit have Bluetooth and WiFi built in?
One cable to rule them all !
Its wild how small it is
This is great, Could you make a video about running one of these off of a powerbank maybe like a 20,000 - 27,000 mAh something like that?
UFS storage... yeah, I'll stick with one of the N100 builds that has an actual NVME drive. This would only be an option if the size is a primary concern.
Looks good thanks.
yeahh, lets test it with Mint installed ! :)
Would definitely love to see how this performs on Linux
Did i miss the spec called "enduserprice at time of making"?
Or does that come at the end..
Edit: and was this a free sample provided or bought ??
How well/bad would something like this run Ultra Street Fighter 4? Any ideas? ..... lol.
Great video ! I would love to see it running Ubuntu !!
Could you use something like this with the iPad? I have seen someone power a Pi from the iPad, and control it over VNC. Is that possible with a mini pc like this?
It’s sold out at the link you provided but it’s still available on Amazon… at twice the price!
you can make it portable with a POE UPS and use the C port for xreal or portable monitor.
Imagine running this little beast off a battery bank with some XR glasses or visor 4k
Yes, please on the LINUX!
Maybe it's just me but I miss when you opened stuff to see what's inside!
Do you think you i can use this in OpenWrt or NAS?
Would be interested to see this as a mini proxmox box. Would be great to also include uk / european / other pricing info in your vids - in the uk, this device costs the equivalent of $250USD!
Nice pc. 2:30 something went wrong with that font :)
I would like to see you do a video running this completely via battery of some kind... And tethered to an Android tablet using the app super display, which allows you to use an Android tablet as a pen and touch screen for a Windows machine. Do it!!
would be nice if you could test this with AR glasses then play emulated games. I'm curious on ps2 games like socom.
I was thinking the same thing maybe with the XReal Air 2 Pros. I also wonder how long it would last with a 65w powerbank for on the go
Bet you love it
Hello Mate, do you think this can handle adobe premiere for editing? shorts and long form videos.
Is it safe for the mini pc to push the tdp from 6w to 9w ? Great review as usual 🙏🏼
S100 not $100....😀
Minisforum is doing a really good job with the mini pc:s
in low-cost nothing good i did`t see from them. few models on ryzen 7 and 9, yes, was good but they cost....
Very nice for how small it is but I’m not sure what you would want to realistically use it for.
Did NVIDIA updraded there Shield cylinder ? Was it better, any good ?
nice stuff
It clearly stated as signage solution. I understood the 8GB limit.
Edging to this rn
😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤨📸
Wondering if it does well with moonlight streaming for 4k 120hz stream
I wonder this work with portable monitor, so means similar like mobile laptop.
Hey, have you done a vid on the silver keyboard you have there? It looks the business!!
It looks like it's an Asus ROG Azoth
@@hulkimo I think you're spot on. Although they don't seem to make it in Silver anymore, and at £209.99 on Amazon UK, it's very expensive, but really pretty though.
What are some good usage for this? Can it replace a nvidia shield for 4k UHD playback through PLEX?
I think it would work fine for this use case but personally I would rather get a nice used Mini PC for that use, you could get a more powerful unit for about the same price or cheaper, which would also allow for upgradeability/repairability and could support the use of an NVME drive. Sure, it’ll be bigger footprint than this unit, and not quite as power efficient, but I would prefer it still. I’m currently using a Lenovo ThinkCentre m710q with a 7th gen intel processor for exactly this purpose. It’s nice because I use an NVME drive as the boot media and I also have a 2.5” rotational HDD which just keeps a mirror of all the data on the NVME. So when I’m using the unit I get the speed of an NVME drive, but just in case the NVME drive fails there’s a rotating disk HDD inside keeping a current backup of the data.
this is a youtube machine to do office stuff and some emulation or very old games
Ty again. Just imagine if a single electron had the power of the sun inside it. Humans, they're in for a ride, that's if we survive our own bs.
Yes, I'm a daily Linux user and would love to see Linux featured more. I am looking for a small form factor PC to make home Linux server (i.e., file server, NextCloud, etc.) And, yes, I have subscribed. Thanks, and, God bless, 🐧
Could you expand the minipc offerings on the channel. US designed computers, Taiwan computers and similar. Thanks.
Waiting on a snapdragon x version of this eventually
Can you use the xreal air with this?
Just wondering how you would power the glasses or device with only one port.
you can maybe power it with a POE UPS battery on the network port and use the usb-c for the glasses.
@@odirex sounds like the opposite of portable. Haha
This could be an awesome linux server ! Please do a linux video!!
You suppose we can poke a gfx card in through USB for this thing? It will be cpu-bottleneck anyway, so it shouldn't matter that it's usb3 connection?
You should review the amd tablet on their website as well :)
Just wonder how this will perform on GFN ultimate with some good monitor...
the memorys are in DUAL CHANNEL MODE? cuz i remenber the lenovo d330 tablet/laptop, say that comes in row on chips , but the 4gb was in single and the 8gb comes in dual, and my doub is that maybe newer gen of mini-hardware are putting 8gb as the minimun (no dual like the 4gb) and when the 16gb version comes out, that one have dual channel.
pd: this doubt born from a observaion that u do to some hardware long time ago
pd2: sorry bad english, i speak spanish.
no, the alder lake n series cpus dont support dual channel memory
Can it run dual screen - And how would you set that up with this thing?
A steam linux machine this size would be pretty cool
I am really wondering if it would be possible to connect this to a dongle and use Orion on an iPad turning it into a PC
Will it work smooth with 4k 100hz HRD 10bit .mkv video file with size about 20GB - or it will be to weak to work (as a PLEX player of course)?
No chance for a 16gb unit? :x. I'd replace my laptop with this + portable monitor since I only go to the office once a week.
throw some arch on there ETA LOL
Yes, would like to see the Linux performance ! But they're already sold out so no hurry 😧
Perfect little Pi-hole linux machine!
GMKtek G5 comparison?
I wanna know if this would run LibreELEC well (a linux distro)
I hear it's also good for a doorstop. 😜
What's the exact weight? I want to use this as a portable device
Can i power this device using ipad. Pro usb c port? Whether the ipad pro 7.5w pd is enough to power this device?
Does it support NDI HX... Would love to set it up as a NDI HX Receiver.
