Wash on a regular basis to insure regular wiring and electrical problems......never fails. Been mowing for 55 yrs and have learned that you're much better off just using a leaf blower on a regular basis. For fewer problems, wash only when the mower is muddy, and THEN avoid bearings and electrical components.

Nice video and appreciate the sincerity and advice. Many of the comments advise using a leaf blower after each use. It's simple and fast and avoids unnecessary damage to pulleys and electrical components. However, your tutorial is directed at an annual cleanup before winter storage or a presale. So, with your method there is less chance of parts damage with the annual cleanup method.

I cut about 6 acres of grass at least once a month. During season it’s twice. I’ve used numerous residential mowers. I used to always use my “Deck Wash” attachment to clean my deck & blow off my mowers with Water after every other use. After eating up Spindle after Spindle? I use only Air Now. Ever since? I rarely have to replace a Spindle or have had any issues. Especially on my Cub Cadet RZT50” that I bought for $200 bucks off my neighbor a few years ago. I would love a new Commercial Grade 60” Zero Turn though... About to go mow! Seems like that’s al I do during this time of the year but I love it.. Especially Striping Yards.. Nothing like having a yard that looks like a baseball field.

Every time you get through with Mowing use your Leaf Blower on Machine before Bringing into Shop or Trailer, I know a man who cuts grass for a living, he does this before putting machine in his trailer--some people don't Spray their yards for weeds Properly thus Blowing Off Bad Weed Seeds will not be Taken to another Customers Yard...

I love this fucking guy! Nice Gravely. Proud owner myself. Man I just leave it at hitting it with the backpack and the air wand for real tight places. I’m not a believer in commercial mowers looking shiny. I do scrape underneath the deck every week in my bullshit wet south Louisiana st Augustine grass part of the world. Gravely leaves one of the pretty cuts you will ever see

Do it outside.....lol. Then I just use a regular garden hose you don't need high pressure at all. Let it dry in the sun then lube all your joints and wax it if you like. Then start it up after it is dry and let it run for 15 minutes or so. I also use a leaf blower everytime I get done mowing. Best time to clean it up is in the spring before you use it so it does not sit all winter and start to rust.

Put some eye protection on! I'll be getting a new lens for my glasses, but without them I would have lost the vision in my lefy eye. And you are quite correct about where you point that wand. A long time ago a friend of mine was rebuilding a car. His buddy was "fiddling with the grease gun and filled the palm of his hand with lithium grease. Four hours of surgery, five months to heal and he never got full use of that hand again. Just a little care.

Those dam pressure washers cause more harm then good. Even being careful your getting water forced into electrical parts and bearings.Use a leaf blower or garden hose if you must wash.

I see no need to use a pressure washer on a machine like this at ALL. Compressed air and a through wash with a non-stick detergent (Zip Wax but not on the plastics or belts) and rub protectant on the plastic parts. I have been doing that since 1993 with 4 different machines, and none of them experienced soil related failures, and all retained higher resale later.

If a user wants to go through the extra effort to follow the procedures you have described, that would certainly be satisfactory! But many people struggle to clean their machines at all!
