    Taking Taiwan's bullet train on 1st class was an AWESOME experience! Let us know if you've ever taken 1st class on the HSR?

      Tell u a secret. The drinks ( cafe, juice, water) and snacks (cookies or cakes) in the business class are complimentary and all you can eat. i usually ordered coffee with bottle water and 2 packages of snacks together. Try next time, the attendant are extremely friendly. They also provide universal plug for your laptop or phone charger. Very very good service.💁

      Second secret. The cabin (no.6) of the business class is closest to the platform entrance and exit which you can fastest take and leave the train!👍🏻

      Why not go to New China? which has more comfortable, cleaner and less noisy HSR. And speed will be 350km / h.

    I didn’t know this until recently. Taiwan’s HSR is actually the first Japan Hainkasen export. The inside is almost identical. Totally LOVE Taiwan HSR!!

    • @GyacoYu
      @GyacoYu 6 років тому +3

      1. It is Shinkansen not Hainkasen. Follow me and pronounce it: SHIN! KAN! SEN! Meaning NIU-TRUNK-LAIN in sinoxenic.
      2. It was actually a pity that Sinkansien was chosen as THSR went very close to bankrupt after choosing Sinkansien. Till now it still didn't recovered from it. I'm not claiming Shinkansen to be bad. Shinkansen is a very good system but that specific deal was bad. The next export of Shinkansen to Thailand was a very healthy and good one but Japanese people simply didn't offer it to Taiwan.

    Nice video, don’t understand why all the non related negative comments. The host said it clearly it look 1.5 hours for the trip, since the train stopped at multiple stations, so the time includes the stops. Train speed various based on road situation and the host stated the speed reached 300, he didn’t say the speed was 300 all the way. I took Taiwan HSR a few times, it was very convenient; I did not have to purchase ticket in advance and never had to wait for than 30 minutes for the next ride. If I remember correctly some stop more stations than other which means take longer time, so you can choose. I took the new China high speed train to Beijing once, it was blazing fast. If you count the time going through airport, train actually is faster than flying and a little bit cheaper. I wouldn’t compare China HSR and Taiwan HSR since they serve different purpose, Taiwan HSR feels like extended metro (I went from Taipei to Taichung for lunch round trip, one hour ride about the same time I drive from Pasadena to Santa Monica in LA) and China HSR appears to be an alternative to airplane. Both are clean and comfortable. Taiwan has a lot of mountains, so train has to bank around curves and go up and down more than some China routes which means it was not designed to go straight at constant speed. So judge the ride with your butt and not coin. I wish we have one from LA to Vegas. Oh, I have been to India multiple cities many times and don’t remember any high speed train there. I took the Indian luxury train (forgot the name) once and it was very beautiful, the dining cart was a great experience and speed was not relevant.

    • @PinghanHan
      @PinghanHan 6 років тому +4

      Generally it is related to the relationships between China and Taiwan. Chinese think they are much more stronger than us for all perspectives, and we must listen to them because we are part of China, not a country. You would find many videos that compliments Taiwan on its food or sightseeings or something with a lot of Chinese negative comments. They really got a condition, I think.

      台湾新幹線(台灣高鐵)で次に導入される形式は700系ではなくN700S系か、E5系の派生型だろうね。
      営業速度は320km/h以上になるのかも。
      E5/E6/H5系は今の営業速度320キロだから。
      営業速度は周囲の環境に合わせて作られている。騒音、振動、車両制振、カーブ通過速度対策などが安全性第一に考えられ、周囲の環境破壊につながらないよう配慮された上での速度設定になっている。
      だから、本来日本でも360km/h以上の速度を出すことは可能で、実際に450km/hの速度実験も行われているが、環境配慮の点で問題があるため時速320キロに抑えている。
      台灣に導入予定のN700S

    While visiting Chiayi, I got a chance to ride the HSR to Taipei (standard) and I was amazed at how much room the seats had, how clean and how quiet. One thing you failed to mention, is there are two choices of every stop or a quicker ride where some stops are left out. I think it's like 20 minutes faster.

    If anyone outside of the Asian region is confused by what is going on with those comments of "Chinese shouting at Chinese", it's because the China you know now and the China in Taiwan is basically two separate countries, much like Hong Kong to China. Virtually everything is different between these 2 countries, even the Chinese characters that they use. Chinese characters in mainland China are simplified from their original form, because the main supporters were largely from the labour/agricultural sectors, who were uneducated laymen and illiterate. They literally killed hundreds of thousands of teachers, scholars and entrepreneurs because they were "out-knowledged" by these educated ones and didn't like them. They also destroyed much of the traditions and cultures of the ancient Chinese, much like what ISIS did. So, if you want a real taste of Chinese traditions and hospitality, go to Taiwan. Btw, you could try the mainland Chinese high speed rail. Other than the fact that they are exact copies of Japanese/German trains, the experience will definitely drive you insane. (It never failed to drive me mad). Long queues, screaming passengers and filthy cabins oh god...

    So the difference between first class and regular is a slightly bigger seat, a free coffee, a little 30ntd (1 USD) bag of nuts and a potentially bigger window. If you paid more than 100ntd more for your seat compared to regular seating, I'd call it a ripoff.

    台湾高铁可以呀,为什么不大规模建设呢,这么好的东西,能少建多少机场,少买多少飞机,还能培养自己的产业链

    I'm on this train about 4 times a month lately as I fly into Taipei on Thai Airlines and then work out of Kaohsiung which is the Zouying Station. The Taoyuan Station is the one close to the Taiwan Taoyuan International airport. The "Business Class" train is the same train as the normal train... Just different section. There is generally two different schedules from Zouying, one that takes just 1:36 to Taoyuan and one with a few more stops that takes just under 2 hours.
    There is a handy app for booking tickets. I usually book in the taxi on the way to the train station unless it is Friday afternoon. Then plan ahead.
    The train always leaves on time. The train is always clean. If there is no one from the mainland onboard, the business class is always quite and I always take a little nap if I booked a window seat.
    Booking by the app cost a little more I think, but it is very useful and avoids the Q at the station.

    Taiwan high speed train runs much faster than China's train, 300km/h against 200km/h. The technology adopted in Taiwan train is much more advanced and safer. Wonder when can China train catches up with Taiwan counter part.

      There are two kinds of PDL on the mainland : slabtrack good for 360 km/h such as Beijing-Shanghai and cheaper conventional ballast ones good for 200/250 km/h. Higher speeds would not make sense in relatively small Taiwan.

    No turbulence! Is it quieter than airplane? You didn't tell us that you can speak Mandarin like a native when you read the station sign! $100 USD for 2 people? Lastly, how "short" are you? in feet & inches?
