I've always found such fascination in abandoned buildings, but I always thought due to the way I was raised, that it's just criminal to explore such places and it makes you a bad person. It's incredible to know that so many other people have the same interest, and I truly find beauty in old places that have been left behind. It is sad that vandals can ruin sites with graffiti, but it's really cool to know that alot of people within the urban exploration community sort of "protect" said locations. I hope to be able to explore abandoned buildings in the future, as since I am a minor, I am unable to go places by myself. People like you truly inspire me, thank you for the content!

Depends I'd say. If it's a highly trafficed place with graffiti and trash all over I would say go ahead and cover those lame territory markings with something cool. If its someplace a lot more untouched I would say nah.
Lol I guess it's a lot like the 'dont break in' rule. If there is a hole someone else made go ahead, but dont make it yourself.

Thank you for some good pointers on getting started. I especially appreciated your advice on using google maps. And thanks for stressing the importance of leaving a site exactly as you found it. In these difficult economic times, it's important that we remember many these buildings are inhabited by our fellow citizens who are in various states of crisis, which is also a good reason never to go exploring alone.

Dude no offense but I've been doing this shit for 13 years and i highly consider myself a true urban explorer I've been to a load of abandoned places and I always give out the locations and I always break in. Urban exploring to me is about forgotten history and if there's a cool spot to explore and I have to break in you better believe I'm going to break in I'm not going to leave a cool location unexplored and leave behind an opportunity I also give out locations because why not share the love? Vandals never ruined it for me and I love when people tell me about new spots

Great video. Google Maps and Street view, as you mentioned, is a great way of finding places. Look for places with collapsed roof, lots of vegetation around etc. I have discovered, at least in Norway, that abandoned buildings often doesn't have an address. No address means that the building/house has been abandoned for quite some time.
I also read lot of local newspapers. Often there are neighbors that are complaining about abandoned buildings and go to the local journalist to write a story. Those buildings are easy to find too since journalists rarely bother keeping the address or name a secret.

another person to contact for an abandoned place is land surveyors. I'm not an urban explorer myself (but i am trying to get into it) but I am a surveyor that has surveyed on countless properties that have been abandoned and someone is trying to buy the property. Unfortunately all of the ones i know of have been developed and to my knowledge are no longer an option. Except for one 40 acre property that burned down.

What if we’ve driven really far to a location, only to realize it’s boarded up? Couldn’t we just remove the plywood & nail it back up when we leave? 😬
I get the whole Urbex etiquette thing with regards to breaking in.
But what if we enter by way mentioned above, take our photos (while obviously respecting the property), making certain to leave it exactly the way it was prior to entering?

In my experience, my city is full of train tracks that are rarely used that snake through the whole city so I've found a lot of abandoned factories and cemeteries that way. Definitely be careful because being hit by a train is not fun, atleast around here the cargo trains don't run on weekends and passenger trains have their own special routes you can avoid.

Some of those forums and abandoned sites can contain old places that have been either demolished or so heavily trafficked that you can catch a criminal summons real fast. Especially the publicly know sites like hospitals and asylums. Heavily guarded and patrolled. They don't want us to urbex.

Great video, man. I've been to a couple places here in Nebraska. I live in a rural town, so there's quite a bit here, unfortunately it is almost all on someone's farm property :D. The law is pretty laxed her, so I don't worry too much about trespassing if I get caught (and it almost always results in an oopsie, because if it's open and there's no signs prohibiting, then how am I supposed to know?), but I tend to have better luck in the ghettos of Omaha, NE - where whole streets can sometimes be abandoned. My last UrbEx video I did for my channel was on a house I used to live in that had been condemned, then forgotten by time. Access point was awesome, though I wished someone hadn't smashed the back door down, but yeah, I think I was the first legitimate person in there for at least 6-8 years. Pretty trashed, but has a lot of my past history behind it, so it was kind of a trip :D. Anyway, sorry for the lengthy message, and... SUBBED :D.

people in the 360 degree camera scene can also upload more rural 360 clips to street view to show those non shown areas on google maps. The insta360 one X camera scene does this....very handy for those who wish to share the whole view in videos also when you save it in VR as you can save in a few formats. Have you not played with the 360 cameras at all Lee?....by the way...loving your work :]

I think my state's bad for urban exploration. It's just a huge desert and the only abandoned places are ghost towns from the 1800's. I think I just need to go look for myself, but even trying to do research online to see if I can find schools or hospitals or asylums or anything, nothing comes up for miles and miles.

I once entered an old ww2 abandoned jewish home, knew it was empty legaly since '44. Anybody there would be as much a tresspasser as I. (checked the adress prior) But the truth is, those windows were not yet broken somehow... it was weird, stuff has been barely touched if at all since I'd say the 60s probably some do gooders who waited for the family, then i found a window, it hasbeen recently covered in a foil but it was already unsealed... buuut the inner window was a loose plane of glass with only those triangle blades holding it... needless to say it was fun to do some repairwork for the opening after leaving, thankfully the strong rain covered all the sounds

Okay I understand that it's not okay to vandalize abandoned buildings and if you're going to explore them to just explore them without damaging anything but I was wondering if it is okay to just salvage stuff from there to like sell or use anything wrong with that

I checked out this video because I looked on Google of abanded places in my area and it actually showed me your video recently my dad's work told him to go and check out this place cuz he is a painter and they wanted to get his approval on whether they should rebuild the place or he could fix it up and paint it and I went with him there and there's a bunch of debris on the ground we are kind of iffy on what the place was the pace seem to look like a doctor's office but there was a church pew in it one man's trash is another man's treasure and I'm the woman who's tresher is their trash and I can easily repurposed things I can find so my mom when she was younger and her teen years that her and her friends went into an abandoned building and she found a skeleton key she still has to this day and I love it its butifull and I think it's pretty so one day I really hope I can Venture into another place and find something like that

I DO have one question though...say you guys found an abandoned place that you want to explore so you guys check if there's any open entry point because like you said in your video you guys "DO NOT BREAK IN IF THERE ISN'T ALREADY AN OPENING OR OBVIOUS ENTRY POINT." DO YOU GUYS STILL ENTER even if there's an opening and you guys see a sign that says "NO TRESPASSING?"

After a while you find yourself looking for such places the whole time! Certain features will put up a little flag in your head; A building with broken boarded up windows, a large building with part of its' roof missing in Google earth, heavily overgrown premises, and so on! I once found something odd in Google earth and within an hour I was there! It was an abandoned railway shed deep in woodland! And then I came across other Explorers I know viewing the same site. Great minds! But one thing about Google Earth - it isn't always up to date and I have found sites totally gone! But if you don't go to see for yourself - you will never know.
