      Was thinking the same thing. I'm not claustrophobic, like lifts (elevators) don't bother me and things like that, but even though this place has probably been like that forever I'd still be paranoid about millions of tons of rock falling and crushing me to death. A friend of mine years ago bought some land in Middle Tennessee and it had a cave on it. Since I was a spelunker from way back we went in and about 400 yards in we found a waterfall about 8ft tall, His house was off grid so we put a big funnel under the falls and hooked 3 inch hose to it and ran it downhill to his house and plumbed it. He had free ,fresh clean water for his place.

    You guys found an old mine thats intersects natural cave formations very cool, the reason I say its a old mine draft is in the ceiling there appears to be drill marks and the compressed air line running in from the outside not to mention the brick work and old cement bags that look like pillows now, I would venture a guess that the true floor was buried by the 3 to 4 feet of rock and sand from years of storm run off.

    Caves are so interesting to me. They're like naturally generating mazes, some are temporary and change over time adding new passages, removing old ones. Each cave is entirely unique, and some seem to be endless, only limited by our ability to fit through the gaps and explore them. Its an entirely alien environment to what we're used to on the surface, the cave entrance is like a portal calling you into an entirely different world.

    The 1921 etching at 9:55 and the square thing that looks out of place. My guess something or someone is covered in that thing. Think about it.......at that part they went up and under them was water. Cave might have flooded and someone in 1921 got stuck there and died.

I want to imagine that Matt and his team working on the ranch at some point will be able to focus on clearing debris from the blast that revealed a passage. It would be amazing and slightly terrifying to find that right below their feet sits a 10s of stories domed drop into the river cave previously explored. I just hope the blasting that have done / will do isn't such a seismic disturbance that it collapses most or all of it before they can visit, hope also when they do it will still be safe.

      My theory: the cave was an entrance to the water table. Instead drilling a well to it, someone just pumped the water from the entrance. I'm thinking that it receded over time so they added extensions to the pipes. Maybe it just receded so much that they called it quits and left all of the building materials.

    • @cup_and_cone
      @cup_and_cone 2 місяці тому +1

      It was an old mine. The pipes were for compressed air because they used air hammers 100 years ago to tunnel with. They imploded the entrance and it collapsed over time, reopening and exposing all the natural veins.
