I thought this was about Ang Lee, the story sounded very familiar--I taught his parents-in-law English in Taiwan. They told me this story, and said he's an amazing cook!
The reason I am charmed by the physical relaxation method is because:
I no longer feel the need to lie. I can be completely truthful.
Most techniques that deal with the mind ask you to do something quite opposite of what you would want to do. For example, send love to a person you argued with, or appreciate what you have right now even if you are not completely satisfied.
Even though you don't feel grateful at all, you are simply asked to be thankful. At first you think you see some meaningful effects. You regard yourself to be in better place than others after comparing yourself with people in worse situations, and try to intentionally look for things you are grateful for.
The more you pressure yourself to say thank you, or I love you, you begin to feel somewhat dejected. Although you may accept that fact that you should be forgiving, you may still experience frustration because you simply can’t understand why you have to do these certain actions.

My life is falling apart I'm losing everything including myself..i desperately need some guidance who can bring me back to my normal life.. Mentally n emotionally I'm so tired that i can't see the difference between right n wrong..my parents are narcissist n because of them I'm going through major depression n emotional trauma they're so lost that they don't even acknowledge me as their son constantly hurting me ..i can't feel my heart because of the pain inside me I'm afraid if i don't get outta here now i might end up like them n i really don't want that i need someone who can help me release my pain n frustration i wanna feel my soul n live my life happily n peacefully please pray for me

My parents are also narcissist and I am meditating since 2 years and feeling good and stable right now. You can start meditation to detach your mind from ur parents. U can watch 'Dr. Ramani' you tube channel and can learn how to deal with narcissist. Also search for spiritual videos on youtube and start watching them.
I don’t know if you may heard of BTS! Listen to their song lyrics! They give you courage! If not like them please don’t give up! Remember after a storm always always the rainbow will show!
I think it’s better for you to live separately from your parents but in same city. So,if they need any help you are available for them.
