I made my own 3rd hand tool. The issue I have is keeping the right side cam from moving when tightening the axle nut. If/when it goes a little off, the rear wheel alignment will be off. I've taken to using a vise grip to hold it in place. That does work. Most of the time.
Thanks for this video. I had the same problem and had no idea HD updated the axle and cam adjustment plate for 2020 and later and it’s a retrofit for 2014-2019. There should be a recall.
Check your preload on your Ohlins shocks. I dumped all the preload and suddenly it wasn't fighting itself sideways and tightened up without shifting any more. Just re-add the preload once torqued down properly. Hope that makes it easier for you in the future.
I have a 2014 streetglide and played HELL with the damn cams!!! Same problem!! Had to get Wifey out to hold the one side with box end wrench while I torqued the nut!! Pain in the f'ing Arse!! Gotta be a better way!!
super fascinating i wonder why the stop is where it is instead of where you put the vice grips? does it need to fully rotate to be removed? could you get a welder to add a couple dabs of metal there to stop it rotating?
UPDATE …. harley upgraded their axle in 2020. It has newer cam plates and tighter tolerances with no play. Part # 43000213 also doc harley does a video on it ua-cam.com/video/z_l0kZFtUD8/v-deo.html
I flipped my axel so my cams go the other way because my axel kept dropping the cams downwards and would cause way to much belt slack so now my cams go the other waynow they shouldn't loosen up.
Cam adjuster Axle- 100% bullsht, And no hinge on rear fender to remove tire, (old school Harleys)- New engineers should be working flipping burgers instead of #ucking up Harleys.
Your right it is a punch a bullshit to do that job right 👍.

Thank you, this worked👍
literally going through the same thing right now.
I started to drill a hole thru both cams and frame and put a bolt thru to keep them in place!! They kept turning on me!! Design really sux!!

A1 cycles. M8 axle locks or big bear Axle locks will solve the issue
Hey man where can I buy these tools
Hardware store?
Is there no safety pin keeping the nut from working off ?!?!?
There’s a snap ring keeping the nut from coming off..
Cam adjuster upside down.
No
Because Harley-Davidson just wants your money they don't care about quality they don't care about you 💯

They are horrible
Thanks for the help, this video would have been better if you had chosen not to use God's name is vain.
