4:39 fun fact, approach b is actually how good skiers ski down the hill. We’re taught to keep our bodies perpendicular to the hill, approach c would cause you to lose control because your centre of gravity would shift back, which would almost certainly cause you to fall
Perhaps this could happen when you activate a boost or something. :)
I had to look this up to confirm but you're totally right. Today I learned something new about my own poor skiing form lol. I'll be adding some of this upper body rotation to the character's ski form (as well as my own)
Yeah, I was gonna say. I only see small children or 1st time skiers do C
@@solomon-gumball if approach b looks to "aggressive" you could do a soft parenting thing, where the upper body inherits like, half of the rotation of the lower body, having control over that would let you do a lot, you could also make the fraction proportional to speed, so if they go faster they lean more into it, (but clamped between some values like 0.5 and 1)
Came here to say this.. Well done ski-sir
Holy algorithm 👀🤯
Thanks for all the subs y'all, this has been unexpected to say the least. Gonna do my best to get organized for once in my life and put out videos on a regular basis
Just pace yourself my friend. If there's something I learned since learning video production in a class last semester, it's that making a game is difficult, and even just basic editing of gameplay footage can get a bit exhausting.
Nonetheless, I hope this gets a lot of attention, I'm excited to see where this goes!
You and me both man
I'm looking for Turtle Pleasure
@@plop4493 I'm up here at KFC, just catty corner to ya
EPIC vid! Would you be interested in doing a video on what you did when/after publishing this video to get it to blow up so quickly? I think it's well earned but was surprised the video had so many views given that it's the first one posted to this channel!
The falling snow really made it come together. Nice work, this is turning into a cool little game
I hope it is not little
That is looking crazy satisfying and fun already. Can't wait to play that one, whenever that point will come.
Thank you! Planning on having an early stage playable demo at some point. Will keep you posted!
Great video
I actually found your video when searching for dev logs and you were 4th from the top
Your voice is nice to listen to, the music isn’t too loud, good video content, decent pacing
You’ve earned a sub, 100 shouldn’t be too far off
Thank you, this means a lot! I've been a big fan of dev log videos for a while so it's great to hear I can make something that other people might enjoy. Thanks for the sub!
Now, it's 400+ subs. Awesome
@@solomon-gumball u hit the algorithm my guy
you'll always be the OG @@jpecc8314
@@solomon-gumball lol
I like this idea for a game. I was thinking about games I loved before starting mine too. I can't wait to see the finished product!
the part a t 2:20 had me chuckling, i love this type of "we are being productive, but look at how silly this looks" type content, keep up the great work
This looks super fun. Nice work so far, I'm excited to see more!
I never thought about it that way, but from now on I'm always gonna see that iconic scene from titanic as characters T-posing🤣
Its almost feels satisfying how so much work is compressed into a smooth video were your game progresses so quick. Keep it up
This is super inspiring. Can't wait to play this lovely game!
Awesome first video, excited to see where this goes!
completely amazing. Have been wondering about this process, thanks for the work on it!
Great first video! Can't wait to try the game!
First devlog and this game already looks very fun. Really entertaining and informative video, hoping to see its development :)
From the start of this video to the end shows a lot of really great work. Nicely done.
Excited to see where this goes! I’m here for the journey!
Fantastic, you're a natural!!! Can't wait to see more, subbed!!
Amazing work dude! Loved seeing the iterations you went through. Keep it up!
Great video! It's cool to see the development process in Unreal Engine. It seems to have a lot of useful tools which are lacking in Unity.
I wonder what it's like to work with Blueprints.
Thanks! I've never used Unity before so I can't speak to all the differences, but I've really enjoyed using Blueprint. The debugging tools are great too. I do wish Unreal had the learning resources and documentation that Unity has tho...
Something funny is that this video came out the day I went on a skiing trip. I’m working on a game myself, but I don’t plan on making devlogs. I wish the best for you, and I’m sure that it will turn out great if you work hard on it. Best of luck!
Awesome dude! Popped up on my reccomended, excited to see where this goes!
I love watching devs start a new game journey. It fills me with so much hope..
the maniquin: flies of the map
the womman from titanic: *relatable*
I have watched tons of devblogs and this is my favorite game idea yet
so many indie game devlogs that I love, and you my sir already are one of them
Hey great video! I'm a month into my own solo dev project, and it's really cool to see others' work in UE5! Really excited for the progress and the game!
Nicely done. Looking forward to see where this ends. Earned a sub.
Awesome video! I really liked how you explained the creation/blue printing process in more detail of certain features you added instead of just listing off the things you added.
okay so this is awesome. Great game idea, great video, great editing and great quality overall. Keep up the great work my guy!
nice work, looks really polished so far, excited to follow along with the series :)
Cool, really liked it. Looking forward to the next videos with detailed lessons!
Wow nice one !!! Well done ! I'm looking forward to see your next devlog !
This channel will probably a new one which will be fun to watch. Really nice first episode 👍.
Wow! This is one to watch. Looks great!
This looks sooo fun! Brilliant work to get it this cool already.
Came across your video on my feed! Loved the amount of work you produced on your first devlog and thr UA-cam algorithm indeed treated you well. Keep it up :).
Great video. Really excited to see your progress. Keep up the good work!
I recently started my game developer journey with Unreal too. I'll be following your progress, good luck with everything.
Awesome devlog! Nice work
Man You dropping this out of nowhere looking like experienced gamedev youtuber. Look great and it's just one video like woah
this looks really nice. You definitivly have to add falling off skies to the ragdoll. I think it would be funny to see your charakter explode and the skies and handles comming off
This us already looking pretty good, im excited to follow the progress of the game:3
This is so awesome and inspiring!! Keep it up 🎉
Interesting game project and great first devlog! I'm using Unity, but I had to sub due to the good quality of this video. Hats off!
This looks really cool, keep it up!
Nice start to your channel, GL&HF!
Wow this game looks awesome! Well done, you've definitely inspired me to attempt to get back into indie game development! :)
i just got this recommendation , and i will every single devlog of urs from now
Looking forward to watching this all evolve into something great. Enjoy your dev journey! :)
nice devlog! im not a developer myself but i can really appreciate a good devlog.
ey, you know a devlog may go somewhere when the title isn't about making your dream game AND it already looks good
really excited to see where this goes!
Great video! Also love the scarf!
Looks amazing, keep up the great work!
Just leaving a comment to help you out on the algorithm, seriously though this was an amazing first video.
hey man awesome work! I love how it is turning out!! 👀
Looks fun, good luck!
Some people just got it, man... UA-cam be recommending me small channels that instantly go to my notification tab for a few days now. The game is looking awesome, it is presented in a great way, you're interacting with your comments in a meaningful way - not a bland "Thank you", keep it up, I'll be following along! =]
Ha ha! Nice. I've wanted to do a new SkiFree as well but I've seen some other SkiFree games in development as well. Looking forward to your progress!
I'm a simple man, I see unreal, I press like and subscribe
Nice Dev log... inspirational!
Loved the visuals and feeling of the game keep it up
really nice video!! amazing im excited to see what the future has in store for you....
Reminds me of Grand Mountain Adventure. One of my favorite mobile games.
Can’t stop watching this video … keep going you can make a super cool channel . Good job.
Looks awesome so far
The game looks great! Can’t wait for the next episode 👍
Seems like a cool game! Keep up the good work
looks great man good work
This is incredible, can't wait to see how this game turns out.
Damnn you remember SkiFree, I played that game all the time at school!
Game looks great, I haven't played a skiing game in a long time and this brought me back. Will be waiting on future updates. Keep it up!
As someone who is 3 monthes into game development in UR5 I envy you 😝.
Seriously, you are doing great work. Keep it up 👍
Love the idea. Keep us posted
This video was fun to watch and very interesting and thorough.
I bet 1000 isn't too far away
you deserve more subs!
ur videos are nice.
Damn this looks great!
I swear this is going to be the next dev to blow up
Awesome video man keep it up!
Interesting work, sir!
proud of you Solomon 🔥🔥🔥
thanks fam
Thanks UA-cam for recommending me this video, it's exactly what I needed!
I'm a beginner in gamedev, without any experience with coding that wants to build a similar game, but with running.
This video will be the kickstart of my journey in learning Godot and C# to build that game.
Thanks! 🙏🏻
Glad to hear it. No time like the present!!
Awesome. Can't wait to wishlist the game! Looks like a great game. I love the SSX series and I could always do with a new party game to add to game nights with my friends
Really cool video! You've earned a new sub, because I want to see how this goes on!
The Game looks really nice keep up the good work. hope you can finish the game and releas it. I like the way you explain everithing.
I love to ski so I can’t wait for this to finish and be playable!
Dev Log 1: builds the whole game which looks sick!
Only one video and yet this many subscribers? Wow, that’s talent!
Crazy that you're working on this as some of these concepts are what I'm working on in unity. I'm working on a game where you explore an ice planet with Skiing mechanics, but amplified, like the Tribes series. Would love to pick your brain on the physics for this.
looks really cool already
Keep up the good work!!
It looks really cool! The camera in front of the player personally isn't my cup of tea, but I'm interested to see where you take this!
This is an banger video keep going
Great video and seems like it will be a fun game
Mate this looks great! Multiplayer physics is a pain but it’s worth it when you get it!
Great work man, keep it up!
Thanks Dax, your channel is great!
@@solomon-gumball thanks! That means a lot!
I'm very surprised you only have 500 subs keep it up
Good work! If you're having problems with level design you could load in a heightmap that resembles a mountainy area and adjust the output mesh to create a nice ski slope
This looks like a really fun game. Pick up n play.
Dude! You just made a whole game!
looks awesome !!
