Awsome!! Thanks so much for talking about the selection & fry at the end so much. That's how I learn!
Can't wait to see another batch of fries
looking forward to see the fry from the second spawning
Great vid keep them coming 👍👍👏👏
Good job Mark ;-) keep going !
look well mate hope you get some nice fish out of them
wow very nice. thank for sharing...
I can't wait to try to spawn my koi
Hi Mark, love all your videos, do you think you will ever do a showa spawning . Also the unhatches eggs that settled at the bottom of the net how did you deal with them water quality etc . Thanks Max
Hi Max, in the first spawning the unhatched eggs didn't cause a problem. In the second spawning they got covered with fungus. Already those fry have been separated from the eggs, you can see in this video filmed yesterday - ua-cam.com/video/1ODa5MnfsmI/v-deo.html
Hi Mark following your vlogs with great interest how many fry are you looking to keep from your final selection?
Kevin, honestly haven’t a set target, and and very mindful of the fact that there could be nothing which I wish to grow beyond a few months. If I have 50 over into 2020 then I’ll be satisfied, but I won’t be keeping just to have that number.
What kind of neta are you using in your pool a d where do you get them.?
You are doing great
Hi, the net inside in the tank is from Japan. The net outside in the paddling pool was home made from some window curtain fabric.
What’s your plans for the fry? If you don’t mind me asking mate. And well done with what you have done with both spawnings looking forward to the next batch. Keep up the good work 👍
Some will be moved on, hopefully some will be of interest to grow further in the future.
Looking forward see how they turn out mate atb 👍
Hi Mark just wondering where you got the white net/mesh from please? Great video btw!
LittleOldDave the white mesh and nets inside are from Japan. The white net outside in the paddling pool was made from fine mesh net curtain.
@@MarkGardnerNTVfree Thank you!
If you kept that many what kind of quantity were culled?
Richard Papworth around 1500
at least 2-3 males per female to increase fertilization rate
Yes, of course. Availability of suitable males was discussed in earlier videos. Of course the flip side is that using one means you learn exactly what an individual is capable of.
Aw can’t a local pet shop take the rejects or a someone’s pond? Imagine if you missed a champion!
Lisa Englert every koi breeder gets asked the same thing constantly
Mark Gardner I’m sure they do. It just seems such a waste. Lot looks lovely tho
Lisa Englert if there was any point in doing it, people would do it.
Do you ship fish
Joseph Lone no, for the moment this is for my personal hobby
dont understand why you dont give them a month or two...i would get it if you were a big fish farm...but surely you can afford it..just to see whats what..sell what you dont like..dont cull them..or let them out you favorite lake..to fish for
If I were a big farm I may have unlimited space to ‘see what’s what’. I don’t have unlimited space. Releasing them into a lake in the UK would be illegal.
