    I stopped keeping koi about 6 years ago, but a system like this has me thinking about starting again. Don't want another massive pond but something like this would be great.

    Just finished watching all the videos on the koi breeding project love your dedication and enthusiasm you surely know what you are doing hopefully I will be able to start again one day .I at to leave my 4250 gallon pond and sell all my fish due to a breakdown down with me and the misses relationship .Let my fish go for practily nothing some of my koi was close to 20 years old the biggest was 92cm chagio,86cm Asagi 82cm sushi 78cm hikari utsuri 74cm kajaku 2sankes about the same size and 2 showas about 70cm and a jumbo mirror what was 18 lb 12oz which I paid £1:10 for was the first fish I got from DIY do it all many years ago .Think I miss my koi more than the X so hopefully start again one day back at my mom's for now trying to save some money . really enjoy your videos keeps me going through these tuff times .Thanks mark.

    I totally agree with you about gallonage, i started koi keeping 25 years ago, still have a 1800 gallon pond / tank with several koi same age.
    But yes i would love a bigger pond when i can afford one.

    Love your breeding style program/thoughts, binge watched all afternoon yesterday(drove my hubby crazy) there's no easypod in the U.S.A 🥺 {UK has the coolest pond items} but I think your spot on! Can't wait to see what this year brings, good luck!
    be safe! Your first choice was incredibly beautiful KOI! AGREEED!

    Good point about pond volumes. I took 4 fry from DJs Showa spawning last year and grew them in a 380 litre vat feeding 6 times per day. Now 11 months old and 35cm! Vat Circulating at 10k lph, Tap KH of 12 being depleted within 48 hours, but I've proven it's possible.

    So true I've been keeping Koi since 1978 with my dad plenty of ideas come and go I remember showers being the in thing in the 80's and now there back in fashion. You can't beat a Nexus no moving parts. Yes there more work but if you fit the auto there fit and forget.

    That look very good. I agree with you. I have 11 ponds from 1OOO lieter to 4OOO lieter. It is mutch easier to maintain and mutch cheaper to keep koi. As long as youre koi are healthy and happy. I enjoy watching youre videos.

    Looking forward to seeing them filled with fish. I’m currently looking to build an additional 800-1200 gallon pond and link it to my qt like you have yours set up as independent of each other or together. Just have to find the time!!

    Hi Mark, just been studying this video again Sir and I have a question. Did you do anything more to the Eazypod stright out of the box, other than taking the UVC out of the unit and removing the black shield pipe? Thanks in advance. 👍🙏⛩️🈂️KC

    Good vid mark and gd advice apart from the bit u said about your vat being over stocked but u have 150 litres of k1 to deal with it well that not quite true is it what u mean is there is enough k1 to turn ammonia in to nitrate but nothing to eat your nitrates afterward which mean having high stock levels is never a gd thing with just running k1 cause all they are is a nitrate factory this is y shower tower with the right media is the best way to go sorry to sound a bore

    Hi Mark great videos im learning a lot from your videos. Are the vats freestanding or have you had to block them up to take the bottom drains? Are they 3” or 4” bottom drains?

    • @MarkGardnerNTVfree
      @MarkGardnerNTVfree  4 роки тому

      yes, free standing, 3" drain fitted beneath the metal grid in the bottom.

    Hi mark, do you breed to sell? I watched a previous video of yours and i was amazed at the quality of some of the fish you had bred. Id be interested in purchasing a couple if you are indeed selling them!

    Hi Mark, I can't agree with you more....You don't have to have thousands of pounds to own and keep Koi. I'm on a budget as I'm out of work at the moment but I can't stress this enough to would be Koi owners. (unless you have a wildlife pond) Get a cheap oxygenator that doessnt use much power and run it 24/7 otherwise you will lose fish.

    Great vlog Mark I am currently building a bigger pond 1,900 gallons with a bottom drain I was going to invest in the easypod but was told it wouldn't cope with 12 fish and was advised to get the nexus 220 what would you advise many thanks kev

    • @MarkGardnerNTVfree
      @MarkGardnerNTVfree  4 роки тому

      Kevin ‘12 fish’ can mean lots of different things. Really depends on size. I would probably look at the 220 automatic on a 2000 gallon pond to be honest.

    • @MarkGardnerNTVfree
      @MarkGardnerNTVfree  4 роки тому

    Hey Mark, loving the VLOG.. Are you planning to vlog the 2020 Season as well? Are the Manor Koi Tanks available to purchase for US customers?

    • @MarkGardnerNTVfree
      @MarkGardnerNTVfree  4 роки тому

      Yes, 2020 season will be documented here. Unless you were filling a container load i doubt they'd be shipping to the USA, and even then I'm sure they are available similar in the USA already. Try here for a starting point - pentairaes.com/fiberglass-tanks-with-window.html

    Are you not going to have any more biological filtration on those vats mate?

  • @franticblue9376
    @franticblue9376 4 роки тому +1

    I have a 4500 litre pond running bottom drain straight to the easypod then on to 50litre k1 moving bed finally pumped to a diy shower with alfragrog is this sufficient filtration for around 15 koi average size 25cm

    • @MarkGardnerNTVfree
      @MarkGardnerNTVfree  4 роки тому +1

      Frantic Blue just the EazyPod would cope perfectly, the rest a bonus.

    What’s the reason for removing the uv for gravity fed? I am looking into an Eazy pod complete on my 1400 gallon pond off a bottom drain. And there sold as pump/gravity fed systems.

    • @KoiChronicles
      @KoiChronicles 4 роки тому +2

      In the UV models there is an inner black tube inside to black out the uv light and also a tighter higher water outlet level for the water to disperse into the outer chamber. Models without the UV don't have this to my knowledge and its a simple swap around of the center inlet tube and outlet tube, hence Pump/Gravity setup. Mark has removed the black pipe and uv fitting from the top to overcome the issue. 👍🙏⛩️🈂️KC (sorry to high jack the post Mark)

    • @MarkGardnerNTVfree
      @MarkGardnerNTVfree  4 роки тому +1

      Karl, as Koi Chronicles has mentioned. There is the EazyPod Complete with UV or the EazyPod Air without UV. The one without UV is sold as pump/gravity, the one with UV is pump only.

    What s the running cost of you set up ???

    • @MarkGardnerNTVfree
      @MarkGardnerNTVfree  4 роки тому +1

      mick goodman the EA VariPump is currently at 50% and says it’s using 52 watts. The Airtech 70 uses 34 watts. So in 24 hours 1 tank uses 2064 watts, or a fraction over 2 units, so at my tariff around 35p per day. It’s likely at a later date that UV will be added.
