I cannot believe the comments on this website. Having watched th farewell tour of Glen Campbell I am so impressed with how Kim is so patient, loving and caring. It is a very difficult job to care for someone with Alzheimer's,as I well know, but she does it with grace. God bless you Kim and your family.

Yes, it takes a special spouse to care for an Alzheimer's partner! My grandpa took care of my grandma for many years and hated to put her in a full time facility. He was there morning to night every day! Bless you and your family, you put Alzheimer's in the forefront and showed people how it can be dealt with. Thank you, people need to see your example!

David H Before spouting off your mouth, do some simple fact-checking. All of his kids are able to visit him, even Debbie. And watch your language. Show some respect for others. Kim is one of my best friends. If you were speaking about his wife this way 6 or 7 years ago, Glen would be really angry with you. But, because he is a gentleman, he would pray for you. Maybe you could take some lessons from him?

+Lev Shelo There seems to be a discrepancy about what has happened to Glen Campbell. He is living in a long-term facility, which seems odd that Kim couldn't arrange for his care at home. Luckily. there is the money for hospice care at home and it sounds rather selfish. Also, the link will explain what is going on with Kim and the rest of the family...she strikes me as phony and selfish.

Thank you for your comment, Kevin. It baffles me that people like Donna Johnson make uninformed comments, acting as though they know it all. Kim has tried home care several times, but Glen is a big man and in good health, other than the Alzheimers. This makes him very dangerous to anyone caring for him. He is unpredictable and quite strong. I had coffee with Kim just two weeks ago and she showed me a picture on her phone of the black eye she received while caring for Glen before she enrolled him, once again, in a beautiful care facility. She was simply helping him get dressed and he hit her without a reason. He didn't need a reason. This is the work of the Alzheimers and the one inflicted doesn't understand what he is doing. Glen is in the beginning of the last stage of Alzheimers. He is neither happy nor sad for he doesn't even understand what those two feelings are! He cannot communicate his thoughts whatsoever. He is "content" where he is now because he is being cared for by professionals. My dad had Alzheimers too. He nearly killed my mom (from the stress of caring for him) until I stepped in and found him a care facility. It was the best and most loving decision I ever made for my parents! My mom's health improved overnight and she had peace in the last 3 years of her life. We visited my dad several times a week. My mom died in September of 2012 and my dad just 10 months later. During that interim, my dad would often forget the love of his life for 58 years was gone! Kim visits Glen every single day and continues to make sacrifices only the loved ones of Alzheimers understand fully! Instead of criticism, people should be singing her praises!

I never got to see Glen live, possible for the fact that I live in Australia but Glen was my guitar hero. I learnt music because of Glen, I found myself at a university studying music full-time because of Glen, I choose to call Glen, maestro. These days I am living in retirement, although I do teach music to a handful of students. Now 50 years after the fact, Glen wasn't my only inspiration, Lindsey Buckingham & Mark knopfler played their parts in my musical journey, but Glen was the first. He inspired me to save for my first Ovation guitar, purchased in 1979. That guitar, was the Glen Campbell signature 12 string At 63 years of age, I think I have seen every tribute to Glen on you-tube. One of my favourite interviews with Glen is the one when Glen attempts to explain a capo, to a none guitar playing interviewer. The interview was very funny, given that the interviewer had no idea what Glen was talking about. Thanks for providing me the opportunity reminisce the story of Glen Campbell & me. PS, was that Paul McCartney in the audience at Glen's concert? It sure looked like him.

After Glen could no longer perform, due to his progressive demetia, he could still play the guitar as if he was all good....didn't miss a chord!
That's amazing for such a degenerative disease.
He & Roy Clark were two of the my favorite guitar/banjo jammers.
They were talented, high caliber showman who knew how to entertain their audience. I miss them dearly, but they both left a legacy of their work behind for us to enjoy! God blessed them both with talent!

Glen Campbell "The country music legend was laid to rest on Wednesday,
but his testimony to the power of God to change a life lives on. Glen
asked God to rescue him from the mess he had made of his life with
alcohol and cocaine. He said he “felt like a drowning man grasping for a
life preserver.” For Glen-and for everyone else-the only life preserver
that works is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. If you put your faith and
trust in Him, He will rescue your soul for eternity. Glen said that he
surrendered everything to Christ-his pain, his drinking, his whole life
and Jesus reached into his life "and took up the burden.” His wife, Kim,
couldn’t have said it any better, “People kept telling me he was never
going to change, but to say that is to deny Jesus’ power to transform
lives.” Don’t give up on those you are praying for. Remember, “with God
all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). Pray for Kim and Glen’s
family, as I know they will miss him greatly." Franklin Graham

+rose ipk Sadly due to the cruelty of Alzheimer`s when it progresses to the later stages it robs you of everything that makes you who you are including your voice ,your humor and entire ability to communicate. It is called a 7 year funeral for a good reason. In essence as a family member you are mourning someone who is still alive which is the strangest feeling from experience. When I lost a loved one to Alzheimer`s 18 months ago I struggled to feel sad about it because I knew I had already lost them years ago.

Although it is very heartbreaking to hear about Glen`s disease. There are issues that may have sped up his condition. Mainly his age. After age 65 the risk of Alzheimer's or dementia doubles every five years. Glen is close to 80. And I know this upsets people to hear this about their hero, but the truth is his substance abuse most likely help contribute to his condition (read the journals on cocaine/alcohol abuse and dementia). He said a few times he thought the cocaine would eventually kill him. In conclusion I hope that his family tends to his needs and let`s him live and eventually die with dignity. He's worth a bundle, so there's no reason he shouldn't have everything and anything he needs.

I read how people put Glen Campbell's wife Kim down so sad as so many do not have a clue what a caretaker of a spouse, parent love one go through and the depression they suffer the pain of seeing their loved one fade as not having them the way they use to be. How they put her down she didn't do this or bring up about his past with drugs - give the poor widow a break - she was by his side everyday as I read all about her and Glen's beautiful children. She gave her all and was at the facility everyday where Glen stayed until the end, and at one point she was so devastated not having him home tried again to do that but he needed the 24 hour care and had to admit him for his safety and hers & her children - people criticized about her having him do his last Tour I myself think it was so beautiful, he was amazing with the help of his wife, children and friends, and how happy it made him as he was in stage 2 of Alzheimer's and still well Aware of the goings on and his music, playing how he loved. So just my opinion I think letting him do his last Farewell Tour was such a treasure and beautiful memories for his children, Kim and even brought his daughter Debbie close to her step-mother Kim! Glen will always be remembered as his Legend lives on his voice, Guitarist - his songs such beautiful music. She locked him up in assisted living. She didn't take care of him around the clock. Removed him from HIS home that HE paid for. Made it hard for his daughter, older than Kim, to see him. She isn't a nice person.

from YT reader Tex Rittenberg ... Yes, I was put on an opiate and Valium by the VA for 7 years and then they told me to stop cold turkey. It was rough but I quit. Then the VA told me that those 2 drugs have been linked to Alzheimer's. Ain't that sweet!!!

Exactly, I really don't get why she's so upset about this song. Jealousy and insecurity is the only logical explanation. I know if my partner of 35 years passed away I wouldn't give a rat's ass about any of his past flames and what they do. Tanya still loves the guy, Kim is the one who got the guy - wtf is she so salty about?

"Lovely "?? Who fights with children. I don't care if they are not your children. All of Glen's children should be included in his will. It is Never a child's fault when 2 Adults divorce. The older children should be allowed to grieve their dad's death and not spend time in court.

Glenn's Current wife Kim absolutely makes me want to run, scream and yell. She tries to come off with SUCH devotional love for Glenn and "all" his children. When she had Glenn placed in a facility for Alzheimer's patients, she WOULD NOT allow Glenn's children from his previous marriages to "EVEN" be allowed to visit him. She was so afraid that his previous children would get him to change his will and not leave her "EVERYTHING". These children had to go to court to be allowed to visit their biological Father. And they won (with stipulations that Kim was present during these visits and the children were NOT ALLOWED to talk to him privately). Not long after this, she "EVEN DENIED" visits to Glenn from "THEIR OWN" children together. And these children had to go to court to be allowed to visit their biological Father.
Kim is not a Christian or anything close to it. She only wanted all of Glenn's money, possessions, property, stocks, bonds and continued royalties. ALL of the children were cut out of Glenn's will. How sad and pathetic is that. Pat Robertson is also a severe money grubbing piece of garbage. These two make great company. I love you Glenn - always a superstar.

His ex- wife who called him a maniac on Troy Donahue and Tanya Tucker(what a joke of human being)....LOL, I'd keep those fools and money grubbers away my poor sick husband too. And for his children(1st marriage)....my guess is if anything like mom...best to just stay away as well. And Glenn was staying at one of the finest Alzheimer Care Home's in the country....I don't blame her for that...its hard as hell taking of a final stage Alzheimer's patient. So why don't you just stuff it.

    • @debrascott8492
      @debrascott8492 7 років тому +5

@Tim Mencarelli.....You know very little about Glenn Campbell, and that is quite obvious. He has 8 biological children and 10 Grandchildren. Kim made sure none of them were in his will (including their own children together). Glenn dearly loved all of his children and this is not what he would have wanted.
Take your meaningless, idiotic ramblings on down the winding road - doesn't work here.

In my husbands and my will, if one dies, the other gets everything, and THEN when that person dies, the estate is split between all of our kids (his and mine). How do you know that isn’t how Glenn’s will was written? The spouse inherits everything, usually. People always seem to assume the worst, when they don’t really know the whole situation.

triston marie I agree! Tanya went through a lot because of Glen when he punched her in the mouth. Seems like it is not a very Christian thing for the Campbell family to do, justifying why the victim can't go visit the person she want's to forgive! You would think that would be good for Glen and the family. I guess they are threatened from the union in some way.

Did it ever occur to any of you that perhaps Glen did not want to see Tanya? It was a drug and alcohol fueled affair that happened years ago. Glen had moved on , recovered, and remarried. Perhaps he preferred to leave that part of his past, in his past. Why blame her for everything? perhaps she was protecting HIS wishes. We won't know and its none of our business.
