The coldest anime intro ever. Even the "Stand by for DBZ" was electrifying. There'll never be another.
💯🔥
man i felt that.
Facts
Exactly💔
What a time to be alive!!! 90s will NEVER be duplicated!!😢
Omg! This is PURE gold! “Stand by for Dragonball Z! Coming next!” took me way back!
So you like this intro huh, would you be interested in knowing where you could find a DVD Boxset where all of the episodes are in this same format?
Good moments. It's been 25 years since I started watching Dragon Ball Z back in the late 1990s, thanks my young brother who got me introduced to me into the franchise as my 2nd anime show that I watched alongside with Sailor Moon, Pokémon, and Digimon.
There's a boxset called, "Dragon Ball Z: Rock the Dragon" DVD set. It originally has all Ocean Group Studios dub 53 episodes edited, and the first 3 films on the booklet.
Dragon Ball supposed to be here in USA in 1980s 😞
"Stand by for Dragon Ball Z!" Good God does that take me back...
Holy shit, you just unlocked a hidden memory..."stand by for dragon ball z! Coming next..."
@TheDbgtfan23. So true. Most of the Rock The Dragon videos on UA-cam don't have that part.
This adds extra nostalgia.
This what introduced me to dbz
Same here bro! I legit shared a tear a lil bit. This was such a dope thing to discover and witness at the time. I think it was fox or the WB channel.b
Childhood Revisited
Me too. Back in the fall of 1997, when my young brother introduced to me into the franchise when we were kids.
Man, I feel sorry for you.😟
Back growing up in the 2000s before uncut, this was the saiyan saga. Good times.
Saiyan and Namek then they returned for Android until Uub
97 this has nothing to do with the 2000s
I remember the intro when the latest episode was krillen letting Vegeta live, and escape on his spaceship. I waited years after that to see the Ginyu force. Now I’m waiting for the next super movie, and the anime to return. I’ve literally been waiting on the Dragonball franchise to release new episodes since 1994.
The long wait was exhausting
Your wait will be over on October 2024 when dragon ball daima will be released. Your wish has been heard by gods and animators😍
Always thought it was weird this intro was almost all film footage with nappa thrown in
It isn't the real intro the real intro is Cha La Head Cha La
@@doraeguyakaneddie6586 🤣😂🤣😂
I NEVER NOTICED THAT TILL NOW 😳 WOW
But it is extremely good for the fact that it really didn't spoil anything.
@@joshstephens413 It's spoils the super saiyan transformation, and Trunks.
Notice the Y7 rating. Fantasy Violence wasn't a lettering for it until I believe late 1998.
First time I remember FV was Power Rangers Turbo.
They actually showed this on the Toonami reruns in 2007-08. It was really weird.
Instead of the ultimate uncut episodes? Huh?
@@hypn0298 Yes. Toonami stopped showing Uncut in 2006, when the block was still going from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. In 2007, Toonami was shortened to 8:30pm to 11:00pm and they showed reruns of the Funimation run of DBZ at 10:30 after One Piece. Sometime in 2008 Toonami dropped One Piece (last ep. was IQ Love Test, I think) and they dropped DBZ along with it.
@@newguy371 9pm to 11pm actually for 2008 toonami
@@flexai You're right. I thought Adult Swim had changed their time slot at that point, but that didn't happen until the following year..
@@newguy371 I remember. They went back to the edited versions, instead of the UNcut Ginyu episodes onwards 😔
A simpler time, before the internet turned everyone crazy.
The "stand by" kicks ass.
The one version which never got a album. It's a shame to cuss its always interesting to listen to. Also when the tittle card showed it had that creepy feeling to it
There actually is an album for this dub’s music; it just isn’t on any streaming services but you can find it on UA-cam :)
There's an album, but it's not complete
It did get an album. Officially released
@@edenxelathe Funimation music composed by Julius, Scott Morgan, and Mike isnt complete either
@@HistoryandReviews Yes, i'm aware of that
Cheers to all my OGs that grew up watching the ocean dub, second to only the original Japanese...🍺🍻
The ocean dub barely resembled the original version. They changed a lot of the dialogue and the soundtrack is different.
@@Trashboat4444 So did the version with the Texas Cast.
Facts when cartoon network was on channel 54
Hell yea I remember they would show 2 episodes of Dbz Monday threw Friday but over here in Arizona
@@BraveryWing26yeah but they released an uncut dub on the blu rays ocean didn’t ever make an uncut dub
Now this takes me back, can’t believe its been 20 yrs when I first started watching dbz….I’m 32 and Ill still watch dbz anytime or any age hahaha
same bro! dbz never die
@@johnmonty7077 hell nahh it will never
Same here
my fav intro of any anime
Cool. For me, it’s one of my favorite openings
I shed a tear….kids today will never know, we had it better since day 1.
This opening still slaps hard.
That chilling music made the Dragonball z so epic.
This sure brings back memories!!
Time flies!!
I am in awe that you were able to upload the "stand by for Dragon Ball Z" intro. This was my introduction to DBZ as a kid in the 90s!
Remember this like it was yesterday
I guess San Fran tv was still on that 70's shit back in '97.
I remember this when DBZ was very briefly on Kids WB!
Children in Los Angeles remember the edited English dub of DBZ on KCAL-TV (K-CAL 9) in the late 1990s.
Enough to make a grown up cry. Pure nostalgia.
Classic intro brings me back to a better time. I'm sure there's many people in the comments saying the same thing
I miss these episodes. I can never find the version I grew up with.
wcofun
I found an ocean dubbed one at a library when I was 9 in 09 it was on an vhs
I have the episodes all the way up to Uub
@@HistoryandReviews of the ocean dubbed? U have Funimation dubbed the entire series in Blu ray last time I saw ocean dubbed was back in 09 when I was 9
Rock the Dragon = (1996) USA/Australia/New Zealand 🇺🇸 🇦🇺 🇳🇿
DBZ Westwood Main Theme = (2000) Canada/UK 🇨🇦 🇬🇧
Cha La Head Cha La ❤❤ = (Heisei 1 / 1989) Japan 🇯🇵
I remember early Sunday morning I woke and turned the TV in and see this intro and I haven't looked back since
I was born in 2004 and missing these intros is making me sad.
Hey i was born in 2004 and i got the chance to watch dbz ocean dub back in 2008
I seen this a few times in the early or mid 2000s i had some of the movies but not the whole series i watched a few episodes whenever i could catch and learned the story from the games thanks to the internet i can watch every episode and relive my childhood
Kinda remember this intro airing on fox Chicago but I mostly remember watching it on Cartoon Network/toonami like everybody else
My 1st time saw this on fox saturday cartoons on of the greatest time of my life. It was when z fighters getting wrekt by nappa
A year before I was born.
Three years for me.
My 90’s childhood
Such memories
I remember watching this on my papas vhs nostalgia
RW:i remember this own showing on Cartoonetwork back in the 90s.😁
25 Years Ago
Damn.
And to think that was a quarter of a century ago is mind-blowing.
Okay that was awesome. I love it! It took me back to when I watched it back in the day
記憶が。溢れている。
It turns out that Nappa not being brought back to life was an error.
When I was 8 the show actually started like this 0:10
Such great memories from my childhood 🔥🔥
Forever goated.
This takes me back
This could be from the premiere of episode 41 as it came out in November but a rerun in December is possible
I remember this intro!!!
Can anyone source episodes ran thru this era/version?
Coldest opening
Time flies
Classic man it was the Classic
Rest in peace Akira toriyama
Hey guys, ion know if anyone is still here but that beginning with the TV-20 intro was like so surreal to me and the fact that I knew it was even more surreal becasue I'm younger than that intro alone. I jut came by to say that. How do I know something from 1997? I have no earthly clue.
I think episode 41 Was For the Namek Saga And The Frieza Saga
I'm still waiting for this to be on fighterz or kakarot
Ooouuu boy talk about nostalgia my goodness
DRAGON BALL ZEEE!
Damn lol I had to watch this again
🕺🏿🕺🏿🕺🏿 dragon ball z!!
Dragon dragón rock the dragón dragón ball z
Dragon ball z is metal as fuck, and I absolutely fucking love it....... hail Dragon ball z.
I am lucky to have watched Ocean dub
This intro was super popular in India
I'm suddenly back in 1996 at 6 AM on Saturday morning
I remember this run on UPN in Washington before it was on toonami
When you relize the cast of Beast Wars Transformers was also the Ocean Dub cast of Dragon Ball Z for example Cheetos and the original Goku are the same voice actor
Rock The Dragon Wasn't a Cartoon Network thing after all?!
In real version gurus name is actually grand elder 😂
I have a Saiyan pod's worth of goosebumps
na na na na na na na na dende!
I hate that this theme hasn't been used in any dragon ball media since like 2002. I understand that it was made for the ocean dub, but it's too good to not be used.
I love you and I'm not kidding
Best era of DBZ. Had all the good things of dragonball and the epic power scaling of dbz.
Too bad later dbz would lose that dragonball magic and become an entertaining but inferior product unrecognizable from dragonball and journey to the west
The guy who wrote “ Rock the Dragon” also wrote the music for Power Rangers MMPR-In Space and the 90’s X-Men animated theme
They don't make dub intros anymore. Shame.
Yes yes yesyessssss
where is the rest of the recording
I know you got it
Fvck yeah!
I still don’t get why most of the footage is from tree of might.
Was this recorded off an antenna? Just curious.
Darn straight
Forever out of reach...
Only OG DBZ fans would remember and appreciate this!! @Geekdom101
Need to tell 1997 me to abandon hope they will get past the episode where Goku beats reccoome. Gonna have to wait till Cartoon Network picks it up and all the voices change a few years later
Ocean skipped the Frieza fight but came back during the Androids and dubbed until the end of the series
What network is this affiliated to?
KOFY is a local San Francisco channel under the then WB, now CW.
@@JimboSlice44 Okay then, thanks.
DBZ was syndicated through what was internally known as the “Saban Kids Network”, though the bumps for season 2 did not have Saban branding.
Most of that footage was from movies
👍
Leading up to the first time I was about to watch the English dub on tv expecting to see the Cha La Head Cha La intro and being greatly disappointed by this nonsensical rubbish.🙄
Much better than Ocean's later opening
DRAGON DRAGON BALL
DRAGON BALL Z
DRAGON DRAGON BALL
