@WX YZ no he just forces it that way, he has recently changed the way he sings because a lot of people were coming after him for sounding similar to jhonny
@@andonbrown385 he didn't sound like Johnny though that's the thing. And those people are moronic..he can do whatever he wants with his songs and I'm saddened to hear he changed it.
This dude is one of the best artists out right now in my opinion. His stuff is so deep and he tells stories so well in his music. Can't wait to see what he has in store for the future!
He is definitely a talented cat. Love his voice and his style of story telling song. You may like Sturgill Simpson, he's pretty good and was the best live show that I have seen in years
Found him on Spotify 4 days ago. I haven't had a Colter-less day since. All three albums are fantastic and I still can't believe how young he is. Young man - you GET it.
This guy breathed life back into an industry that had sold its soul .. This is the kind of music that simultaneously breaks your heart and mends it. It's music for the open road, coming to terms with the human experience and a broken heart. . . I would love to sing with this guy.
I'd never thought of it like that, and now I'm realizing that pretty much everything I listen to breaks my heart and then mends it. Wow. This is profound. Thank you for making me see it like this
I can't remember the last time a music artist got right to my soul as much as Colter Wall, and that means all type of music. A true music folk, country, cowboy, western, get right to your heart music genius.
Nice to see an interview of him, learn some about him. I've seen him live once and am going to see him again soon, I just love his music and can't wait to hear his new stuff!
This dude is the definition of old soul: he was only 20 when he released Imaginary Appalachia in 2015. Every track on there sounds like a man in his late 40s who has seen lots of love, violence and heartbreak. Absolutely incredible, talented individual! Love and respect from Texas. ❤️ 🍻 🎸
When I heard him the first time, I was very surprised to see that he was so young. His vocals give the impression of a much older man. It's almost like another person or alter ego emerges and sings thru him. But as a traditional musician myself, now for 35+yrs. I'm happy to see younger guys taking a renewed interest in more traditional music and hope it catches on. I was getting a bit worried.
My proper 70 some year old Mom who never listens to country, likes his music, and my 21 year old soldier son plays guitar and sings his songs. So I had to find out who this Colter was and what kind of music he played that would appeal to two such different people. I liked the 13 Silver Dollars song👍🏼

@@antayafairless9028 he did but I agree it is sad
@@andonbrown385 Affecting a tone isn't necessarily forced. Forced would result in inconsistency in vocal quality.
@@antayafairless9028 no, he changed it because he said it hurts his voice to strain it like that.

check out Lost Dog Street Band for another great story telling group.
Benjamin Flynn what are you talking about? That is his singing voice and it sounds awesome.
Check out michael kiwanuka !!!
@@bestofburden bullshit.
That's what I love about Colter.. I'm into the story too. Being from Appalachia, I grew up on mountain songs that told tales.
I was born on this mountain, this mountain's my home
Can you believe he is only 22? It is inspiring how much wisdom and insight this guy offers.
Exactly. Voice like Johnny Cash and short stories too.
Only 22?! what talent! 😍
I was shocked to discover who his father is.
Found him on Spotify 4 days ago. I haven't had a Colter-less day since. All three albums are fantastic and I still can't believe how young he is. Young man - you GET it.
I just don't get how he is not more well known, original huge talent
John Quirke because it isn’t pop.
As soon as he catvhes on people will say he sold out
It's definitely therapeutic for me Mr. Wall, thank you for what you do...

A modern day throwback! A real new artist. His music is real to the bone!!

Awesome interview with an awesome artist. Extra points to those boots growing plants!
I just now noticed that pair of boots!! I was too busy looking at his handsome face!!
His music is great, deep and tells great stories. (His voice sounds so different when he sings!)
Love, love, love and more love!!
Real deal, thanks for great songs Colter

Great artist and wise beyond his years
An ancient soul in these modern times :)
I love his voice and his story telling songs that really paint a picture in your mind. Love a good lyrical story
His singing voice is so captivating, but his talking voice is just as captivating if not more. I could listen to this guy tell me stories for hours.

By his accent I could not tell he was from Canada
Vanellis2 Alberta is basically Canadian Texas
@@taehyunkim5709 He's from Swift Current in Saskatchewan. His Dad was the Premier (head of provincial government).
J D sask and Alberta together are not even close to the rest of Canada
Canada is a commie liberal shithole and liberals don’t deserve this guys music
@@dylanleamananderson7811 Jesus that escalated quickly
Think northern Montana in terms of culture and accent, also cowboy hats are a staple in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
This guy is amazing. Glad to see there is some real substance out there in this genre.
So talented and he seems really down to earth. God Bless that fella.
i have centered my type completely around this man.
that is why i have been single for the past year.
This music songs stories helped me. thanks Colter
Love Colter and what he sings about! I’m glad he is as honest about himself and what how he expresses himself musically
holy shit just hearing this guy for the first time he is the man
really awesome songwriter, it's true that it's the most important part.
“It’s about the story” thats why I love country man. That story always gets me
His voice reminds me of Don Williams...which is a huge compliment.
I'm hoping this guy will inspire some new British folk singers , he's just so good!!
I honestly figured his speaking voice would be a lot deeper from his music. He's still amazing anyway. 😊❤️

im crazy about his stuff, but its comforting to know this is whose playing those songs.
This man is going to be a legend one day
His music directly talks to me. That's extremely rare.
Thank you for writing murder ballads and railroad bill.
Yes, keep doing what youre doing! Insane. Awesome. Perfect. Yes.
The four horsemen of the apocalypse are coming back!
Colter, Childers, and Stapleton so far. I'm still searching for the fourth musical horseman.
I like BJ Barham. You might as well? Also really love American Aquarium. I could go on but it’s late. Hope you enjoy

gosh i love that gui-tar.
Oh god I have a new crush
I just realized Colter Wall and Slipknot's Jim Root have quite similar voices. What this means, is Jim needs to do some folk/country music
I min bog er den her knægt allerede en legende. Hans output er vanvittigt godt.
Anybody else notice him just casually working in a Townes line at 3:05?
If Johnny Cash and Townes Van Zandt had a kid...
Check out "Johnny Boy's Bones" featuring The Dead South. Those two should do a collaboration album.
Him and Chris Stapleton should do a duet
Colter and Tyler have a song together. Truly beautiful. “Fraulein”.
Does playing a ‘37 Martin give special singing powers?. I swear it’s like a ghost of an old cowboy singing through that young feller. Amazing gift
cannot stop listening to this version of 13 silver dollars
This guy is so different and truly has his own sound, reminds me the first time I heard sturgill
Ain't nothin like telling a dam good story in a song
Man this guy is cool. Would love him for a neighbour. Come on over anytime and bring your guitar!
Id encourage him to play his guitar and practice in his backyard and Id do yardwork listening
This accent he puts on is funny lol
I do not know where to go to ask for Colter Wall to sing some Marty Robbins...El Paso....?
Thanks,
Alaska.
It's kinda weird. This guy has almost a southern accent but he's from Canada. It makes not sense!
Honestly I think that’s what happens when you sing music and hang around with guy that sing music like him!

Is that a 50s Martin OOM ? Anybody know?
Looks like a 50's 00-17
Its a 1937 00-17 i believe
Where ever colter is from that's the only thing I've heard in months that makes any since at all
How the FUCK is his singing voice sooooo different but amazing. Show me what crossroad you met the devil at sir, cause I’ve got some stuff to sell.
Tour Idea:
Billy Strings
Sturgill Simpson
Colter Wall
Tri-Headliners
Make it happen!
Thanks Hell or Highwater
Been smoking reds since he was 2 years old.
That beautiful fucking guitar oh my fuck. Is that a pre-war 17 series martin? I am freaking out
Yes it is
Johnny cash...i know he hates being compared beacuse its insulting to him sense he wants to feel original but omg.. he sounds like johnny
You killed kate mcannon and the way you sing it i actually think you shot that woman down
Didn’t think he had actually been arrested hahaha
Feature this man in the next Red dead redemption game
Ronnie Van Zant vibes heavy here
Almost sounds like John
He sounds about 60 but like a hard, scarred 60. His voice is like a old Johnny Cash like holy shit it's unexpected
I think he had some cool adults in his life growing up
They Didn't catch The Reference I could tell.
A nice Canadian accent
I knew his singing voice was affected.
@Marten Dekker Well, no offense, but you prob just dont know any better to identify it.
A vocal Bob Ross painting
THATS MY JOB. THATS WHAT I DO. 😢
Came here just to see if he talked that low in real life.
Sin ages very fast.
He talks like Johnny cash on top of singing like him
This kid was born and raised in Canada.... where the fuck is that southern accent coming from?
how kinda sounds likem joel from the last of us
He’s 22 wat dude seems 40
Great artist, but he shoulder consider waiting a few more years to grow a beard or mustache.
He is a JC ghost 👻
