Could get you all sorts of firewood if you were closer. When I’m pulling firewood poles, they are 25ft and I try mixing them hard maple, ash, cherry, beech and oak if I can. Makes for a nice load
My Deepest Blessings and Prayers for your Wife Dave. Every day Buddy. Also for you and Family. Nice going on those Logs. I have been Batteling a Headache.now on the Right Side. So I made an Appointment with my Primary Care Doctor. I went today and was there for about 2hours. I was seen by Her and about 4other Doctors in with Her. They have all said the next Step is a Nuerolgist. So I have to go see him on Monday next Week. They all checked my Eyes and said that my Right eye is Off Center, and my Left Eye is A bit off also. So I asked her and the Other Doctors what they Think it Is and the answer was to see the Nurologist and go from there. But no way is it going to stop me from doing something I Love to Do, taking Care of my Wife, and Cutting Wood. So anyways Buddy Stay Safe out There, Stay Warm and Take Care of That Jack it is Awesome. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
I’ll be praying for you and your health Ron! I hope you can catch a break one of these days. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. Hope you have a better day tomorrow!
Prayers to you and your wife on her journey battling this nasty disease, the wife was battling cervical cancer about 7 yrs ago, in remission now for 3 years now pet scan once a year now, so far so good cancer free
Another great video Dave. Wish I was there just to smell the hemlock you were cutting, great smelling wood 👃. Continue 🙏 for your wife, you and children. Please stay safe. 🦌 from northwest Pa.
Thanks Dave another very interesting video. The buyer reminded me of a time a Forester came to the job site. I was cutting with a Husqvarna 371, he hadn't seen one yet. He ask me if he could cut a tree to try it out 😁, I let him have at it. You could see he knew how to cut a tree. The guy was tickled to do that, he liked the saw and thanked me. I think I made his day. God bless, thanks for the update on your wife. Will continue to pray for you all. Jerry from Ohio
That was a great lesson on log grading! I understand 40-50 years ago basswood was the premium around here. The ship building industry used them for making templates before the days of CAD.👍
Excellent content on the buyer guy. Seems like a fair fellow. Also a good looking load of logs. Prayer and blessing to you and yours for as long as it takes my friend. Hang in there.
Really enjoy the educational side of it. I also work in the woods but only on the side. Not to often you get into nice wood like that here though. Southern New Brunswick, Canada Good work
I’m kinda new to the log game. In my businesses over the years it’s hard for me to trust people. The one guy that scaled some loads I delivered was cool. Educated me on things he was looking for. Still had a weird feeling he was cheating me. As I grow the knowledge it’s helping me feel more comfortable. 🇺🇸👍🏼💪🏼🦅🙏🏼
Logs are where the money is but you most have pulp too. I don't see any in the videos. A good share of the logs around here go to Canada. They use to scale on the header, but everyone draws to a yard now and there sorted and scaled .
Why was he stacking logs rather than loading on truck. If you could get log buyer to talk about his grading would make good video. Really enjoy your videos. Praying for your wife.
It took a little over a week. There were also 2 loads of blocking. In that time we also put a clutch in my skidder as well. Thankfully my buddy Tiny helped me a ton
So if it’s aspen, that goes to the Amish as blocking. Some people call it aspen, some call it poplar around here lol. That’s usually goes for 1000-1100 a load. If it’s tulip poplar, that goes to the big mills for lumber
Your videos are great; however, it might be nice to know what part of WNY you are working out of. Maybe that's something you can add to the introduction of your videos. Just a suggestion. Keep up the great work and blessings to you and your family.
How can he look at the logs when they are in the pile like that. I worked for a veneer for 3 years the logs needs to be laid out so he can look at them. He probably gets good ones and bad ones that he shouldn’t have bought at all Sold a basswood for veneer once 7 bucks a board ft
I’m not sure. He’s not the only one around here that buys logs like that. Someone left a comment saying basswood use to be worth a lot more back in the day.
What do you do with the reject logs that they don't buy?
They go in for blocking/pallet lumber. Sometimes railroad ties. Sometimes firewood
@@daveyslogging looks like some great firewood poles! I wish you were closer.

Evening Dave.

Praise the Lord your wife is doing better.
Log loader operator was trying to help you out lol. You should have told him. 0 meant priceless lol
lol I should of! Next time lol. Thank you
I don’t realize you were a New Yorker yourself!!! Rad man
small world!
@ heck yeah!! I’m in upstate near Syracuse
Your wife will be on prayer list from Pgh. Pa.
Thank you, we appreciate your prayers!

Low grade logs go in for pallet or railroad tie lumber. Hemlock/spruce pretty much any pine goes to the Amish and is sawed into lumber as well
Prayers still coming for all of you! Was that an electronic board feet measuring system he was using?
Thank you very much! I’m not sure, I’ll ask him next time what that hand held thing does next time I see him
@ thank you!!
🙏
Thank you
We are praying for her every night ❤ and the 67 families who lost loved ones ❤
Yes I agree! So sad. Thank you for your prayers and I will be praying for all those family’s as well

They had two more stops after me. I will see what I can do. Thank you for your prayers and kind words. Have a blessed day
Thank you, very informative! Why no “V” on the stick of red oak?
It was dis formed with a spiral twist in it
@@daveysloggingoh 🤔 didn’t see that
Where in ny are you?
Western
Awesome grading/buying content would love to see more of it. How long did it take you to get that footage out to the landing?
It took a little over a week. There were also 2 loads of blocking. In that time we also put a clutch in my skidder as well. Thankfully my buddy Tiny helped me a ton
@daveyslogging I would have taken me a week just to do the clutch! Do you ever cut poplar or have any idea what it goes for per bdft in western NY?
Yes I do get into poplar sometimes! Right now it’s around 50 cents a bft. Seems to be the average around here. Last winter it was 70 cents.
@@daveyslogging Oh wow that's not bad. We have 50 acres with tons of mature poplar we want to thin out. Is it going to Amish sawmills?
So if it’s aspen, that goes to the Amish as blocking. Some people call it aspen, some call it poplar around here lol. That’s usually goes for 1000-1100 a load. If it’s tulip poplar, that goes to the big mills for lumber

Thank you for your suggestion. Thanks for the kind words as well. Have a blessed day
What area of NY are you in and what mill did that buyer work for?
Do you sell your softwood for pulp?
No it goes to the Amish and they saw it into lumber
What part of ny are you located in
Western
@daveyslogging same here new to your channel already have me hooked
Awesome! Glad to hear. Have a blessed night

@ I’m not sure if some veneer buyer still buy it. But 7 bucks a board ft. Was what it was worth in 2012
🙏
