Hello this is Steve from Nb. I really appreciate you making these videos. This reminds of back in the seventies. The boss brought is bulldozer in to make trails because that snow was so deep fun days.I still like working in the woods, don’t cut much lol
I’m glad to hear! It’s a lot of work when the snow gets that deep and I wouldn’t say it’s fun lol. Thank you for sharing. Keep on enjoying them woods! Hope you have a blessed day
I'm glad that I found your channel. You put me in mind of myself. Always out in the woods getting wood no matter what the weather is like. Awesome videos
You have an interesting way of falling trees. Most other guys cut the bottom of the notch out first and then the top cut after. Most fallers I have don’t bore cut the back cut. I like the bore cut method because it seems to be a safer method when dealing with back leaners or falling trees in windy conditions. Would you be able to do a video explaining the technique?
I do things the safest way possible and have been to many game of logging courses. Here’s my video for bore cutting ua-cam.com/video/5o3VaUkFZgY/v-deo.htmlsi=j8jsm10ETzK7BHJj
I never understood those high shallow notches, mine are 1/3-1/2 way in, with about 4"-6" high on top cut, then 1" higher on back cut, I hardly ever use wedges........
Well for one, it keeps the butt from having short boards. For two, i don’t drop the trees whatever way they are leaning. It’s all directional felling. I deal with a lot of heavy leaning trees that won’t just tip over with a deep notch. Hope that helps you understand and hope you have a blessed New Year
Yes your videos remind me of my logging days with a timberjack 1st one was a 1988 timberjack 225A then moved up to a 380A then a cat 525 witch I still have Wat size it your machine
@ I haven’t really noticed a difference. Hard maple can get pretty tough if we see subzero temps but just keeping the trees off the dirt and mud makes a huge difference
New sub here. Wouldn’t call that making a mistake brother on that maple. I’m curious if the scaler takes boards off? Great video. Keep posting! Happy New year. Vic
Not on that one. If they slab real bad, they might back it off a bit but the log buyer I use is understanding and does his best for the loggers and landowners
must be nice to cut in open timber never had the chance over once or twice, you all private lots that you get or a forester? nice small heart maple, cant you make a little more for 16ft logs looks like you have plenty of tree, what rule?
I'm confused with all the plunge cuts seems to be a lot of wasted time you should be able to just cut a notch and do a quick back cut and down the tree goes not trying to be mean just saying
👍
Your positive attitude and your passion shows in your channel. I'm very glad to have found your channel myself and wish you nothing but the best.
Thank you very much! I enjoy your videos, especially watching gramps rippin on them saws. I wish you and your family nothing but the best

You must think I’m crazy, I thought I had subscribed but somehow didn’t, or I accidentally unsubscribed. But I’m subscribed now!!
lol it’s all good my friend! I have 4 kids. I know what crazy is 🤪
Nice looking hard maple right there. PA, NY? Where you at?
Spoiled with HM here. I’m in NY
You sure change clothes and saws a lot in a day😉 Nice video though. Subscribed
lol! Yeah “a bunch of days in the day of a life a logger” sounded a bit odd. Thanks for subbing! Hope you have a blessed New Year
Where you logging? Was that this winters snow?
NY and yes it is.
Great job buddy! If you ever want to come down and have work get together let me know…I’ve always wanted to do it…
Thanks! Would love to! What’s the best way to contact you?
Great videos looking forward to 2025
Thank you very much!
@@daveyslogging hey buddy I was wondering if cutting in winter with everything froze if it is harder on your chains on your saws

New subscriber here! I’m looking forward to future videos! What state are you in if you don’t mind me asking?
Thanks! NY
Also I have a question do you guys have a bar length restriction?
No, what do I need a longer bar for
Seems it is a hard life and very dangerous making a living that is honest 😮
Do what you love
Get a quick question what state are you from
NY

@@cedricgates9976 all private lots. No 16fters unless mat logs have a market
I'd love to come work a day with you in the woods and I'd do it for free my friend !

No, not when you gotta keep the butts clean and come home to family everyday.
That technique gives you more control of the tree longer leaving the back strap for last. Nicely done
