  • Well folks, because the original Briggs conversion video I made a year ago has taken off for NO REASON... it's only appropriate to resurrect it and do a torture test. Unfortunately, I didn't have the $3000.00 USD to purchase a small engine dyno, so let's hook this thing up to something heavy and see what happens! Will it survive? Will it burn up? Come join in to see! This was fun!

I use a breaker bar ratchet adapter to spin engines with a 1/2” drill so when they start the adapter spins and you don’t get hurt.

I love the amount of thought you show during this. Im thinking of converting a 8.8 hp pressure washer engine for my fiance's trike, and this video helps a lot.

Hi man, I really enjoyed watching that. I've spent hours trying to find a vertical gearbox that I could use for the 190cc 8.25hp briggs motor I have got from a leaf hoover.
My plan is to convert the motor from vertical to horizontal, add a gearbox and make a quad out of it.
Maybe that could be a idea for your new video? Converting the engine to a quad/gokart?
    Thanks anyway!

Hi there! I'm glad you enjoyed it! That sounds like a fun project. I'd love to figure out some type of gokart or fun machine to mount it to 😁 One of these days, I'll get something figured out! Best of luck, let me know how it goes! Also - thank you for the sub!!! 🍻

Nice project. It proves that it is possible to repurpose a vertical shaft engine with some fairly easy mods. Great vid and thanks for the upload!

Creative engineering at its best! How about using the Frankenstein motor to power an alternator to bring fishing worms to the surface?

Hmmmm... I like the idea! Use it to power something else... Thanks! 👌🏻

Make a small generator out of it, i bet it can turn some old altenator, then hook that to car battery and some sort of inverter👍

Sorry, its been 30 years, i think i used piece of tin cans for my slingers as a kid, not aluminum sheet. Steel, carbon fiber and titanium all have infinite fatigue life, meaning they can vibrate back and forth a bunch without braking. Aluminum does not have that, hah. Fun fact: before ww2, aluminum was more expensive per pound than silver. But they tooled up the old aluminum making process for the war, and now its so cheap we can just chuck it out the window. (Not really, youd have to be an aye-hole to litter, hah.)

      Hahaha 😆 Agreed!
Interesting about the prices of materials though throughout history. And good to know about the fatigue life. The aluminum gutter was definitely a poor choice lol Gotta learn somehow I guess!
      I appreciate your comments 🙂

There are at least 3 schools of thought on this project. Can it be done? Should it be done? Why in the hell would anyone do this?😁

      Hahaha, valid points! 🤣
I guess there are other ways to test an engine 🤔 Gonna have to try something more practical!
