@@mountaindew267 ya thanks man my belt broke and tore all the sensors and wires apart in the front. Not a good day but if you still got a camaro or a firebird keep making videos you have my full support. Thanks again man.
New Sub, because this is the best diy for the 4th Gen firebird out there. One thing , where long elbow goes into block there is usually a ring seat that sometimes does not come out with elbow and need a needle nose plyers to get it out Thanks a bunch bro 🙏
oh ok was gunna ask how the birds holding up i just bought my friends 2001 v6 bird a month ago she almost has 200k miles but shes still running really good
Great video bro, my 2000 firebird's belt kept falling off and i noticed it was misaligned on my tensioner. Luckily i found your video because otherwise i would have been lost on what to do. Keep making videos if your firebird ever has problems because its most likely ill run into a problem just the same. Thanks
Great Video man thx and yes you are like the only vid that shows how to replace the whole tensioner assembly and not just the pulley or just the wheel.. again thx bro... oh and by the way they are called vise-grips =D
Thanks for the video, I need to replace my tensioner because my alternator bolts got loosen and strep the threads, the bolt that went into the block broke, so now I need to replace the tensioner on my 99 firebird.
good video, Thx. but to the ones changing this. The O rings for the heater inlet and outlet will most likely need replaced. You have to order from GM or order a replacement kit. both take several days to get.
Yes i need this. becasue this is the direct issue for my engin overheating. i replaced freezer plugs, got a full radiator flush, and made it like new, new heater core, new sets of hoses, new thermostat and still suffer with overheats..till i discovered my tensioner was very bad, getting lose and even casuing the belt to come off in rainy condishions. and found out this effects my water pump directly. no signs of water or coolent in my oil, and no exhaust leaking into my cooling system..after much searching i found out the tensioner not turnning my pump like it should was casuing the water to not flow like it should causing direct overheating of my car. even though these engins are notorious for certain issues, once corrected they are rock solid, and run like no one business.
Thanks bro, Great video! I've been having the same issues with mine bouncing, including power steering. I'm doing this to my '02 firebird on Saturday. :)
I have a 99 Camaro is having the same problem except mine is making the belt slip off and it's not aligned on the tensioner.hopefully this is the problem because I need to get this thing back on the road.
@@JuanMontoya-vb4ll I mean, open the hood and see if you can tell what pulley is making the noise. But if the tensioner is bouncing, it needs to be replaced.
I looked forever for a good vid. Thanks man
Honestly why I made it. At the time there was literally not a single vid of it.

Do you still have your firebird?
@@kj908studio nope, I've been through a couple of cars since then. Fortunately, I haven't had to do a lot of maintenance work on them.

Thanks 👍 good job

also to avoid having to replace it again i would suggest getting the metal elbows for the coolant exchange
+Chris Powell yeah for 8 dollars its well worth the extra money vs 4 dollars and some change for plasic.
Very helpful and occasionally entertaining. Thanks

What kind of coolant are you using??? Dex-cool?? My tensioner shakes when i turn on my a\c . 2002 firebird v6
how to you release tention to take off the belt every video i watch skips this step
+Red Hairing easiest way is to use a tire iron or cow bar pull it down, then have a buddy slide of the belt
Hey every time it rains or I drive over a puddle my belt falls off is it because of the belt tensioner assembly
It very well could be. Mine didn't even need rain to fall off.
