Nissan Xterra / Frontier Heater Blowing Cold Air ? Try This!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 жов 2024
- First I am NOT a mechanic, second only try this when engine is cold. This video corrected the following symptoms. 1) Heater would not blow hot air at idle or low RMP. 2)Heater intermittently blows hot air for short time only to blow cold air again. NOTE: there of course can be many other reasons why this is happening to your heater but if the coolant level is good and you have no leaks try this first. After a little research see below links I deduced what I saw for these symptoms and BOOM! it worked. Let me know if it works for you...

THIS WORKS !!
Thank You so much for making this informative video ..
I have a 2016 V6 4.0 Nissan Frontier 4x4 SV 142,324 miles
I have had this truck for 3 years
And just last winter in February.. my heat kicked out ..
I let it go for the summer and now we are getting cooler mornings.
It's Oct 18th 2022 ..
I did this trick this morning
Parked on a hill with ass end up ..
Ran the truck for 15min ..
Burped the air out by squeezing the hose as you explained..
Did the front end up
. Noticed I needed a little top up so I added coolant to top up at the cap and helped all the air out..
Just came back from a good drive into town and back .. I was sweating in the truck .. I tore my coat off at the lights .. and smiled all the way home.
My father insisted it was the thermostat... I just saved a couple hundred bucks from the shop doc .
Thank You So Much !!!!!
Thank you so much for the feedback and I’m so happy that it worked out for you as it has for me and many others. Best wishes to you and yours and oh by the way if you’re so inclined we’d love you too like and check out her Facebook if you’re so inclined

Safe travels
Worked like a charm on my 2014 Xterra. Thanks for taking the time to pass this along.
Awesome! Stay warm and safe travels
🇺🇸
Thanks for this video. My heater started blasting cold air about a week ago. I was fearing the worst that I would have to replace the heater core. Wasn't crazy about ripping the entire dash out. Found this video and it did the trick!
Outstanding ! So glad it worked
Thanks so much for the feedback
Worked on my ‘16 Frontier SV. I thought I was going to have to rip open the dash. Thanks!!
So awesome, I'm truly happy for you. I'm glad this held. I know my channels pretty amateur. But I like to share what I can. Feel free to subscribe for more juicy content 😊 thanks again for the feedback
cheers to you and everyone else that decided to look up this video.
Thank you kindly friend same to you and yours safe travels
My 2011 is doing the same thing,it doesn't even put out enough heat on cold mornings to defrost my windows until i start driving. at red lights the heat goes away and as soon as i start accelerating again it comes right back. thanks for the video im going to give this a try.
Well I hope that helps it’s work for me flawlessly for the last several months so I’m pretty happy, be sure to make sure your fluid level Is it the correct level if you folks have shared with me that that’s critical as well. Good luck let me know how it goes
What happened??
Thanks for the procedure. Just performed it on my 2014 Nissan Frontier and so far so good, heat at idle!
Outstanding! Super stoked it’s working out for you, safe travels…
Duuude! Thx to this issue on my baby (2015 XTerra Pro-X)
I found you/your channel!
What an off-road (cold🥶) ride to get to you! Going to try ASAP. Meanwhile...so appreciative of you & your channel!
💖✌🏻✨💫
Awesome it’s helped quite a few people and obviously it’s worked for me there could be other issues but definitely give this a try first make sure that your fluid level is topped off before you try it and let me know how it goes I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you This is my second Xterra I absolutely love the vehicle mine has almost 300,000 miles on it and it runs and looks like brand new still

Thank you good sir I appreciate that greatly blessings on blessings to you and yours. Happiest of thanksgivings
We miss it up there. Great info. Nice to be able to fix something without taking it to the dealer and spend a lot of money.
Hail to the man! Hell that saved me more like 500 bucks in Boston.. Oh yes.. Wish I could afford a 2022 frontier :( no way Ray.. Not this lifetime..
Thanks for the props I hope this helped I know it save me a ton Adele and freezing to death in my rig my Xterra has 270,000 miles on it runs and looks brand new it said it’s issues over the decade but this one staying with me for life as well are you sure to check out her Facebook and give us like 👍🏼

Thank you and safe travels
Thanks for the UA-cam video bar. I did the burping of the radiator. Oh my God it worked I have heat. Thank you.
Outstanding ! I’m so glad it worked for you!
it doesn’t work for everybody but I’m going on almost a year trying this technique and I’m definitely not a mechanic but this saved me some good money.
safe travels 🇺🇸
Thanks so much! This worked for my 2007 Xterra!
That's most excellent.
So happy to hear it thank you for your feedback
Is the car suppose to still be running when you take the caps off and when you say you let it rest for about 30 mins, is that with it running or turned off?
No, yo u just wanna start it up. When everything sealed up with the engine cold, let it run for about 30 seconds. Just to pressurize the system, turn it off and then burp it.
Again, you don't want the engine hot. You don't want it running when you take the cap off. Simply started up when it's cold. Let it run for about 30 seconds to pressurize the system. Turn it off, remove the cap. It'll burpe's Amer and then just leave it. Open to allow any excess air to escape and then do it again, but with the vehicle at another angle. As you know if you want the video, I'm not a mechanic but this is worked perfect for a lot of people. I did it approximately 2 years ago. And haven't had a problem since please let us know how it works for you. 🙏
Thank you for the information I have the same problem with the same color Nissan Exterra. By any chance are you in the Owen's Valley in this video I'm from Bishop California?
Thank you for your feedback friend, No, unfortunately, I'm not in the Owen's Valley in the video. I'm actually in Nevada at ripatch reservoir. That's sad. I do love owen's valley very much . Be sure to give us some feed back on how it works Happy holidays to you and yours
To be clear, do you run the engine for 30 seconds then remove the caps and let it continue running without caps for 30 minutes? Or turn the engine off and let it sit 30 minutes while not running?
No, sir, you just gotta run it with a cap on for about 30 seconds to let it pressurize. Shut down the vehicle, open the cap so it can burp the air.
I did it twice. And left the cap off for about 30 minutes, please note I'm not a mechanic but when I was trying to figure out a way to fix this problem. I came across this information that I shared in the video and low and behold its work and I haven't had a problem since its work for many others as well. I hope it helps you keep us posted on your results.
This is great info. I just thought experiencing this on my 2007 Nissan frontier. I’m going to give this a shot.👍🏾
Thank you I hope it works out for you it’s been good for me for months just make sure your fluid levels topped off good luck
@@americannomadtv8880 how much of an incline is needed? My driveway has an incline 15 degrees. I’m going to try it when I get off work today.
@@Shawps That’s about the same as my driveway good luck to you I hope it works for you I know it’s worked for me and several other people. Keep us posted on the results 👍🏼
Did it work?
Success?
It worked on my 2003 nissan Frontier. Thanks!
AWESOME! so glad this has helped you, and many others many and no trips to the shop. Please consider subscribing :-) and check out our Facebook page facebook.com/americannomadoutfitters THANK YOU!
I assume you run the heat on full blast when doing this so fluid pushes through the heater core hopefully removing any air bubbles that are trapped in it correct?
Yes, that's correct. Please keep in mind. I'm not a mechanic. I got this information through several sources. But it's work. Great, and I haven't had any issues and almost 2 years now. I hope it works for you as well. Feel free to keep us posted on your result. Happy holidays to you and yours.
Thanks so much! that saved me like 400 bucks
So happy for you and thank you for the feedback. It's amazing how many people this is helped and you did absolutely save hundreds of dollars. I've heard a lot of people sharing. Insane quotes to have it repaired.
Who knew something so easy could remedy this?
Anyhow safe travels and happy trails, and if you're so inclined to be fun to have you. Subscribe to my humble little channel.
Craziness. This JUST happened to me however how it happened was a mistake. I loosened the radiator cap with intent to check the coolant, got a phone call and then forgot I left it loose. Took off and smelled coolant. Pulled over, closed cap-however I never suspected the air bubble. Worked.
I'm so happy it worked for you. As stated in the description, I'm not a mechanic. So with a little research I did a couple of years ago I too was throw the find out that I didn't have to spend hundreds of dollars at at the shop to fix it. It's been over 2 years and it's still works like a charm. Happy new year to you and yours
Why do you think this happens randomly...Mine is doing the exact same thing now..Im going to try your fix...Heat guage will go to normal but no heat at idle...When I rev it up or start driving the heat works great....What would cause it to have an air bubble to statrt with...
My understanding and again in the description I stated that I’m not a mechanic I just got this information from a few different sources and this is the simplest way to try and correct it my understanding of what causes it is there an air bubble gets trapped in the heater element and you need to burp that bubble out in many instances the recommendation that I shared works and others the whole system needs to be flushed by a mechanic I too had the same issue as you and it was extremely annoying because I live in a very cold climate and as a result I have to drive slow a lot of times in the snow etc. and it was just freezing so I did this about a year and a half ago the method that I shared and it worked . As far as what causes the bubble to get in there in the first place I really don’t know you might wanna check with the xterra.org in there for him that’s an excellent question something that I actually hadn’t thought of I was just more concerned with getting that corrected but I’ll do a little research and maybe you could as well keep me posted on what you find out and I’ll be sure to share if I find anything out as well thanks for sharing your thoughts and safe travels and happy holidays
I love seeing all your videos keep it up! Very informative
Thank you 👍🏼
Well folks I am about to try this,🤞
Keep us posted on your results
Same problem of the heater working and then stopping with cold air blowing. I know there's air in the system, I couldn't burp it successfully after changing the thermostat and the lower radiator hose trying to fix the problem. Will try this method of yours and let you know of the outcome. Thanks for the advice
well as I shared in the description I'm not a mechanic just a regular guy who's had some success with this method it was shared with me by a mechanic a little over a year ago and has worked perfectly for my Xterra which is a 2010 peoples results different but it seems like the majority of folks that has worked the only thing that I could add as a recommendation as make sure your fluid level is correct in the radiator and in the overflow and you want to try and burp both of those I hope this works if it doesn't I would check out ride I hope this works if it doesn't I would check out Ry the car guy on UA-cam is a great resource for information on the Xterra I hope this helps keep us posted on your results
👍🏼
My 13 Frontier is blowing cold air when heat is way cranked up (like 85-90 degrees) but then blew warm air when I dropped the heat to 75 degrees. Could this be the same problem? I plan on trying this once the engine cools.
Thanks for sharing your situation. As you might have read in the description. I'm not a mechanic, but this is solved. The myriad of heater is choose for literally hundreds of people. I would definitely give it a try before you go. Spend. In any money on a mechanic, please keep us posted on the result. This could help others thank you and safe travels. Looking forward to hear how it turns out.
Ok let it run for thirty seconds. Then remove caps. Do you shut off engine? Before taking caps off? Your instructions are not completely clear. Let it sit for thirty minutes. Running or off? Should the heater be on?
The engine should be off when you open the caps so just start the motor let it run for about 30 seconds so the pressure rises don’t do it when it’s hot shut the engine off and open the radiator cap and the overflow cap I left them open for about 30 minutes but ended up and the next morning it was working like a champ I know this is helped a lot of people it won’t work for everybody but it’s worth a shot good luck and let us know if it works for you
Sorry I missed this part of the response yes the heater should be off, best of luck to you
Thanks!
How long did you let it run after you took of radiator cap and overflow
I just ran the motor for about 30 seconds just enough to pressurize it from a cold state.. Then open the In the overflow Cat to burp out air bubbles you then do it again and give it a go it works in most instances not at all but give it a try and let us know how it works for you thanks for watching and safe travels
That’s crazy, I am currently in my xterra and the heat just died. The crazy part is I am also on my way to go fishing! Weird.
Well I hope the heat comes back on and good luck with the fishing
AAAAAAAAHHHHHH YEEEEAH. IT WORKED. THANK YOU.
Awesome I’m glad to hear it 👍🏼

What was the angle you think?
For me it was approximately 15° we also want to make sure that your fluid levels topped off
@@americannomadtv8880 I tried a bleed today with a funnel.designed for it but after 2 fan cycles only a little air had come out and still heat not working unless car in motion. Will try your incline/decline method next.
@@greatestcity19 I try it one more time before you take it to the shop this the whole system might need to be bled out what could be another issue I know it’s worked for a lot of folks I did this about 11 months ago and it’s worked perfectly since. the next thing would be is to bleed the system you may need to take it for a shop for that I’m not sure if they pressurize it somehow to get that bubble out of there but it’s stuck somehow so keep us posted and I wish you luck with it but I think I would try it one more time before you try something else because it’s worked for about 50 people so far of course you could have another issue there are some links in the description that might offer up some other tips again keep us posted , best of success 👍🏼
Also check your coolant level and see if it's low.. I added more because it was low and the heater worked much better..
Thank you 👍
hi, when you turn on 4H, what is the percentage of rotation front and rear?
Oh OK I didn’t understand the question initially and this is a great question that I really didn’t know myself I had to research it, I pulled this info off the Xterra forum hope it helps. Be sure to let me know if you find out anything different. Safe travels and thanks for The question…
FROM XTTERA FORUM:
well, say for instance you have open diffs front and rear....that means in a straight line, in 4wd HI, all 4 wheels are driving the truck.....once you start to take a turn or lose traction on one side, the open differential transfers the power to the wheel with less resistance (outside wheels when turning because the outside have to travel a greater distance in the same amount of time).....so, since you have the same gear ratio front and rear and in 4HI the front end gets the same power as the rear end, yes, technically all 4 wheels are putting down 25% of the power....
once you get into limited slip diffs and lockers, this all changes...if you have the front and rear differential spooled/locked, all 4 wheels are ALWAYS going at the same speed(providing you have the same f/r gear ratios)....so regardless of turns, all 4 wheels are putting down the same power.......this is why spools aren't good for street driving, because on dry pavement turns the outer wheel has to turn faster....if it cant, the tires will wear MUCH faster
if the rear is locked and the front is not, the equation changes again, as it would if the front is locked and the rear is open
so, basically, if you are driving in a perfectly straight line with 2 open differentials with NO SLIP in 4WD HI range, then yes, each wheel is putting an equal share of the power to the ground (a.k.a. 25% each)....
hope that clears it up a bit, someone please correct me if that info is invalid
thanks for the info, can you manually block the front or just the back?
Well, let's say there are free differentials and in the case of snow or mud, 4 wheels are rowed at 25 percent each, and when we lock into a manual rear lock, what then?
nice to chat with you
but wait, you probably don’t lock the rear manually from the passenger compartment with the button
Thanks 🙏
Thank you and I hope it works for you thanks for watching
@@americannomadtv8880 it did thanks again
Awesome!
How steep does the incline need to be?
You know that's a good question from the research I did and from what I personally did. Is the couple of degrees just enough to loosen up any trapped air bubbles in the lines? So a s**** of a average driveway should suffice. Thank you for the feedback and please be sure to let us know how it works for you have a great day.
I did this exact thing. It did not work.
I’m sorry it doesn’t work for everybody it has worked for the majority of people with good long-term results you may want to give it one more go and make sure your fluid level is where it needs to be thanks for watching best of luck
Xterrible, worst freaking vehicle for cold weather use. Heater core airlocks all the freaking time if it’s parked and run on any kind of incline. Windows frozen shut six months of the year, seat belt retractors don’t work when it’s cold. Manual transmission needs double clutch until it warms up. TPMS flips out at random when it’s cold. Bonus points for side airbag sensors made of shite pot metal that rot away from winter road crap that gets tracked into the footwell. If only the 4Runner came with a stick.
