You may also want to look into having the battery charged or buying a battery charger after 6 months it's guaranteed to be dead after none use. The alternator will charge the battery when driving but only a little. It may does again next day.

I put a Gold (upgraded) alternator in my mercury grand marquis in November, which is also the same week I had a dual amplifier/ dual 10" subs/ four 6" kickers/JVC stereo. Everything well within the power limitations of that by which the system/amp/alternator/and a platinum car battery installed a month before all this that has worked great. The one thing that I feel like has been responsible for the battery problems I had with my last car and maybe this one as well, is this lighter inverter which I use to plug an 18650 Nitecore dual battery charger DC 12V/2.5A connected to the DC of the inverter with 2 USB slots all plugged into my lighter. Recently my car stalled while running fine, no signs of any issues prior like leaving my inverter plugged in with the car off though I have done that several times between deliveries and sometimes for hours which is not good I know but this was something else. The engine had gargled when it shut down and would not start so I had it towed having just recently turned to flex fuel after years of running unleaded, it is equipped for flex fuel and with gas prices through the roof I figured since I drive every day, what the heck. I had also had my fuel pump changed 6 months ago with only a 3k/3 months warranty whichever comes first, that I'm told is a pretty lousy warranty. My mechanic showed me all the gunk over some leveling component near the gas tank that looked like a Krispy Kreme donut it was thick. The conspiracy theorist in me considered this was the work of the fed or some environmental, globalist agenda pusher who has tainted truck loads of ethanol to save the corn fields. 2 tanks is all I had put in. I was suspicious when my mechanic concluded it was the fuel pump not just cause I had just changed it but I also doubted that there was really that much build up from 2 tanks. i drive uber daily. $800 and 3 days later my car stalls again. I tow it back to the shop and the next morning they told me to pick it up that they charged it and there's nothing wrong with it. Leaving the shop confused I didn't get 3 miles and all the dash lights, head and brake lights, everything powered off but I was still able to drive it, dangerously with one foot on the brake for 3 miles to home. The next day the car started just fine. It was a weekend so I had to wait to take it back to the shop. I guess I plugged that inverter again though it wasn't charging anything but a connected USB cord hooked up to nothing. That drained the battery so empty I've been trying to jump start it but it's just draining my portable jumper. What should I do at this point? Thank you for reading

The mechanic said he was getting a brand new one not one that was rebuilt so it would last forever. My car died the other day and we tried jumping it (I wasn’t out there) but my bf said it wouldn’t crank over now I’m wondering if they didn’t let it charge long enough. I would bring the battery to an auto parts store for charging. If the battery dies 3 days to a week later if get a new mechanic they didn't connect something right. A car can run on the battery alone. After hòoking up the charged battery let the auto parts store test your alternator for free. Good luck. Hey I have question . So a couple months ago when I started my car it immediately shut back off and started it again and it stayed running . So a couple days ago I tried to crank it but it wouldn’t start but sounding like it was struggling to start . I’ll say after about 2 days my windows started to roll back up slowly my lights started to not work, and radio wouldn’t stay on. The next day I came to check on it nothing was working. The car wouldn’t start at all or wasn’t making any noise when trying, I couldn’t pop my trunk by the button in the car or key, and my car won’t unlock or lock . Also I tired to jump start it for about 5-6 mins and my lights inside my car were blinking but didn’t start my car. What do you think could be the problem ?
If you're battery is really dead, is it safe to leave the car running for longer, say maybe upto an hour? If read lots that it should start after 10 mins max but I think I'll need longer. Thanks
If its bot charging after 5 minutes you need to recheck the cable connections. Make sure the cabin light in the dead car has turned on. If the light doesnt turn on the battery may be completely dead and unusable. Have it checked at an autoparts store. Please subscribe thanks!!
Your battery is probably just really dead. The longer it jumpstarts the longer it will charge. Once took me an hour to jumpstart because the car I was connecting to also had a low battery from none use. Also make sure the cables are properly connected. If your windows work fast up and down a few times then it may be your starter good luck please subscribe
What if it jumpstarts fine and everything works, but it won’t turn on next time if you use the keys only? It only turns on if you jumpstart it with the cables.
Does it matter what car your using to jump starts the dead batter? For example, if I have a 3 litre Bmw, would a 1.2 engine still be able to jump it, or is it just battery related on engine. Sorry I love cars but I just not the brightest on fixing them thanks
Some batteries are stronger than others and may jumpstart faster yes so using a bmw battery to jumpstart a diesel truck may not be ad effective. But if you leave it attached to jumper cables while running it should charge just like plugging a phone to a charger. It just may take longer. What if you buy a new battery and I goes dead after a week and you drive the car about 15 miles since putting in the new battery. I have a Acura TSX 06 and I found out the Bluetooth thing drains the battery. So whole the car was dead, I disconnected the Bluetooth thing and jumped the car with a portable charger. The car started and left running for about 15 mins. and I tried starting with the key and it wouldn’t start. I tried jumping again and this time the car didn’t start or take the jump. So I charged the portable jumper bc the light was at medium. Once back to full charge, I tried it again and at first it didn’t start the car. So I put the negative connector on negative instead of putting on a ground post and it started. I left on got about 15 mins. and when I tried with the key, it wouldn’t start again. Oh and the dash lights wouldn’t even come on the time before it took the jumper charge. So now it won’t stay charged unless I jump it. So is this new battery shot or should I take it back to get it recharge or get another one bc it’s only a week old? Or get a battery charger and see if that helps? It may be the alternator or the Bluetooth thing draining my new battery when the car was not running.
That's a good question mr peanutbutter. The black terminal on the battery is the negative or neutral it can be connected to any grounded metal source on a car. Newer cars actually cover up the negative terminal and have a special location for putting the black clamp. It prevents sparks which in rare occasion can lead to battery explosions. My jumpstart wouldn't work and then I tapped the starter and it still wouldn't work. But then I tapped the alternator and it started right up. What could be the issue?? My alternator/battery warning light has not come on either.
There may be a short in your wiring, but an alternator does spin too like a starter so it's possible it's bad. Take it to an autoparts store for testing. I'm not sure.... they are usually called jumpstarters if they are wireless . Id get one with good amps and cold cranks high. You still have to charge them every 30 days so they don't fail.

+Bad Fairy you can jump start your car that fine, but the battery never really reaches full level unless you drive for a while and can be dead again if you stop somewhere. This is a way to assure your battery reaches full charge if it's still good. If it still says bad battery you know there's an issue. Also leaving your car sit for a month if you go on vacation the slow charge helps prevent the battery from going dead while your gone.

What time my brother was helping someone in the apartment complex jumpstart their car and my brother revved his car up to four and it only took like 20 seconds to jumpstart the other persons car

Yes you should first make sure the portable jumpstarter is fully charged. Leave it on there for a few minutes before cranking. But usually the portable.jumpstarters will work right away if they are fully charged. Please subscribe. Thanks for watching!

Feel free to share my videos on fb. Also I usually available to respond for help. You may also look in a battery maintainer/slow charger if you dont drive for 2 weeks at a time. It will keep the battery charged while your not using the car. All car batteries go dead after 1-2 months of non use if not charged. If you use the car just to run to the corner store it drains the battery even more. Short trips kill the battery since all the energy is used to start the car. The alternator charged the battery while driving. So next time you drive to the store take a leisure ride through town if you haven driven in a while. 30 mins is enough to keep a battery in good shape. -cheers
Dude you’ve got lights bells and dash and so much power in that battery you aren’t even worried about leaving the PT door open while you you hop back and forth between cars. When your battery is completely dead no amount of waiting is going to bring it back with enough charge to start it.
D donner Thats not true ..... i urge you post a link to any proof of that being true and I would consider maybe believing part of your statement. I have the cabin light off for the open door and theres no other drain on the battery otherwise any dead battery can be recharged or jumped it's just a matter of how long it takes for it to go dead again depending on if you get a new one but thanks for watching and commenting even though your info isnt really correct. This info could save you money on batteries in the future ask at an autoparts store they can test and recharge a totally dead battery with no power at all.
Maybe on a charger, but how long will you wait with the booster car running to supply the jump? I had the exact same problem except completely dead and nothing after almost 20 minutes linked to another car’s battery with jumper cables. Nothing nada zilch.
I have had a dead battery take close to an hour to charge with a jumpstart, on a flat dead battery went back and checked the cables they were not attached properly and slipping but it does work man and yes a really dead battery can take 20-30 mins to charge on a jump. You know it's working when the cabin light comes on in the dead car. -cheers

You need to visit an autoparts store to have the battery and alternator tested. Most likely you have a bad alternator which charges the battery while driving. Also you battery could be bad. Lights come on when jumping cables are connected but will not start. Also all electronics turn off when cables are disconnected. Im leaning towards the battery being bad or am i wrong? Truck sat for a year.

We jump started the car like 5 times already this quarantine (and it starts easily). yet due to the lockdown we couldn't go that far to charge the battery well enough so this morning we tried jump starting it but the starter is having a hard time starting like only one spin and then stops completely and even though we revved the good car at around 3k rpm it's still having a hard time. Sounds like you might have a bad alternator too. Autoparts stores can test those. Bad alternators dont charge the battery while driving. But you may just have a really dead battery. Buy a charger they are like $60 at walmart. Schumacher is a good brand
So if the battery isn't "ABSOLUTELY GONE" and it starts after a few min charging, then how long do I keep my PT cruiser running so the alternator can charge the battery? I can get my car started after a while from jumping it but when I turn it of 15 min later, it won't start again on its own. The battery only reads 12.4, so it's not completely gone if it should be full at 12.6 CORRECT?
Just get a new battery I think that will solve your issue some batteries can go bad after 6 months most have at least a 2 year warranty good luck please subscribe
My 1999 Chevy trailblazer sat for 2 days and the battery went dead and then it sat for several weeks because I don’t drive it yet, but I tried to jumpstart it and I let it charge for about 5-6 minutes and I tried to start it and it cranked and almost started for 1 second but then started making a buzzing noise, I did this several times, the battery is also a new one so something has to be draining it or something
I was trying to jump my 2001 Grand Marquis today after it sat for about 2 months and after having it hooked up for 15 minutes I still got absolutely nothing - no sign that there was any life to the battery. You can remove the battery and have it tested at an auto parts store. AutoZone is very honest. They are not just trying to sell you a battery and it's free. Sounds like you could try charging it at an auto zone too. Takes a day or so
Hey natasha thanks for watching hopefully you will subscribe. That could be your starter. Try checking if your headlights are dim and roll the windows up and down 5 times. If they dont lose power its your starter. Because the windows are powered by your battery and use alot of power. Theres also a slim chance it's a mai. You are not bypassing the battery you are actually putting a charge on the battery that's why if your battery is completely dead and you need a new one it wont even jumpstart. The battery must have a charge to keep the car running. The alternator charges the battery as the car runs. If theres no charge in the battery it will just shit off. Yes they have a safety on it cruisers for connection points on Chrysler cars. I've always found that weird vs just using both terminals on the battery. Mercedes does this too.

Try your power windows. If those work at a regular speed then its. It's not your battery. You can take the batteryniut and have it tested. It could be your starter!! If power windows work 2-3 times full speed it's your starter. Did you subscribe yet lol ;)

My jumpstart wouldn't work and then I tapped the starter and it still wouldn't work. But then I tapped the alternator and it started right up. What could be the issue?? My alternator/battery warning light has not come on either.
There may be a short in your wiring, but an alternator does spin too like a starter so it's possible it's bad. Take it to an autoparts store for testing. Also charge your battery fully can also be dont free at an autoparts store if you being it in or you can buy a charger for $79 at walmart. Please subscribe and share my video on facebook goodluck

I'm not sure.... they are usually called jumpstarters if they are wireless . Id get one with good amps and cold cranks high. You still have to charge them every 30 days so they don't fail.

Drew why Have I been told not to jump start my car? It is a Microcar. I have to put it on slow charge too.
+Bad Fairy you can jump start your car that fine, but the battery never really reaches full level unless you drive for a while and can be dead again if you stop somewhere. This is a way to assure your battery reaches full charge if it's still good. If it still says bad battery you know there's an issue. Also leaving your car sit for a month if you go on vacation the slow charge helps prevent the battery from going dead while your gone.

What time my brother was helping someone in the apartment complex jumpstart their car and my brother revved his car up to four and it only took like 20 seconds to jumpstart the other persons car

What if my car been sitting for couple months and gave it a few minutes but still won’t start, but has lights on and all that.
Try hooking the battery up to a charger or taking it to auto zone to charge. U can also use a juno box and leave it hooked up for a while

Feel free to share my videos on fb. Also I usually available to respond for help. You may also look in a battery maintainer/slow charger if you dont drive for 2 weeks at a time. It will keep the battery charged while your not using the car. All car batteries go dead after 1-2 months of non use if not charged. If you use the car just to run to the corner store it drains the battery even more. Short trips kill the battery since all the energy is used to start the car. The alternator charged the battery while driving. So next time you drive to the store take a leisure ride through town if you haven driven in a while. 30 mins is enough to keep a battery in good shape. -cheers
Dude you’ve got lights bells and dash and so much power in that battery you aren’t even worried about leaving the PT door open while you you hop back and forth between cars. When your battery is completely dead no amount of waiting is going to bring it back with enough charge to start it.
D donner Thats not true ..... i urge you post a link to any proof of that being true and I would consider maybe believing part of your statement. I have the cabin light off for the open door and theres no other drain on the battery otherwise any dead battery can be recharged or jumped it's just a matter of how long it takes for it to go dead again depending on if you get a new one but thanks for watching and commenting even though your info isnt really correct. This info could save you money on batteries in the future ask at an autoparts store they can test and recharge a totally dead battery with no power at all.
Maybe on a charger, but how long will you wait with the booster car running to supply the jump? I had the exact same problem except completely dead and nothing after almost 20 minutes linked to another car’s battery with jumper cables. Nothing nada zilch.
I have had a dead battery take close to an hour to charge with a jumpstart, on a flat dead battery went back and checked the cables they were not attached properly and slipping but it does work man and yes a really dead battery can take 20-30 mins to charge on a jump. You know it's working when the cabin light comes on in the dead car. -cheers

You need to visit an autoparts store to have the battery and alternator tested. Most likely you have a bad alternator which charges the battery while driving. Also you battery could be bad. Lights come on when jumping cables are connected but will not start. Also all electronics turn off when cables are disconnected. Im leaning towards the battery being bad or am i wrong? Truck sat for a year.

In hot weather batteries go bad. Hopefully its under warranty or can be charged. Most batteries last 3 years minumum and have 3 year warranties.

Might be your alternator . You may need a new battery too

We jump started the car like 5 times already this quarantine (and it starts easily). yet due to the lockdown we couldn't go that far to charge the battery well enough so this morning we tried jump starting it but the starter is having a hard time starting like only one spin and then stops completely and even though we revved the good car at around 3k rpm it's still having a hard time. Sounds like you might have a bad alternator too. Autoparts stores can test those. Bad alternators dont charge the battery while driving. But you may just have a really dead battery. Buy a charger they are like $60 at walmart. Schumacher is a good brand

So if the battery isn't "ABSOLUTELY GONE" and it starts after a few min charging, then how long do I keep my PT cruiser running so the alternator can charge the battery? I can get my car started after a while from jumping it but when I turn it of 15 min later, it won't start again on its own. The battery only reads 12.4, so it's not completely gone if it should be full at 12.6 CORRECT?
Just get a new battery I think that will solve your issue some batteries can go bad after 6 months most have at least a 2 year warranty good luck please subscribe

My 1999 Chevy trailblazer sat for 2 days and the battery went dead and then it sat for several weeks because I don’t drive it yet, but I tried to jumpstart it and I let it charge for about 5-6 minutes and I tried to start it and it cranked and almost started for 1 second but then started making a buzzing noise, I did this several times, the battery is also a new one so something has to be draining it or something
Buy a battery charger. You may have a bad alternator though auto parts stores can test this
I was trying to jump my 2001 Grand Marquis today after it sat for about 2 months and after having it hooked up for 15 minutes I still got absolutely nothing - no sign that there was any life to the battery. You can remove the battery and have it tested at an auto parts store. AutoZone is very honest. They are not just trying to sell you a battery and it's free. Sounds like you could try charging it at an auto zone too. Takes a day or so

Hey natasha thanks for watching hopefully you will subscribe. That could be your starter. Try checking if your headlights are dim and roll the windows up and down 5 times. If they dont lose power its your starter. Because the windows are powered by your battery and use alot of power. Theres also a slim chance it's a mai. Fuse but very rare and usually your dash lights will not go on if it's a fuse. Please share my channel on your facebook if the helped

Well no because when you connect from another car your by passing the dead battery with a live battery. So maybe a few seconds should do it.
Hey r Lowrie tha ks for watching. Pretty sure you are incorrect . You are not bypassing the battery you are actually putting a charge on the battery that's why if your battery is completely dead and you need a new one it wont even jumpstart. The battery must have a charge to keep the car running. The alternator charges the battery as the car runs. If theres no charge in the battery it will just shit off. Seems to me when u add another battery in parallel you are adding 13 v to 0v which will start the car then the alternator charges the low battery. I think..
Nope!! I would google it if I were you :) the car will not run without a battery. Alternator charged the battery when you jump the car it's just enough to get the starter to turn
Car batteries are 12 volts not 13. If you were to disconnect the jump without a charge on your battery the car would just shut off.

Yes they have a safety on it cruisers for connection points on Chrysler cars. I've always found that weird vs just using both terminals on the battery. Mercedes does this too.

Try your power windows. If those work at a regular speed then its. It's not your battery. You can take the batteryniut and have it tested. It could be your starter!! If power windows work 2-3 times full speed it's your starter. Did you subscribe yet lol ;)
