In 2019 I bought into the Shein hype because I had lost 100 lbs. and needed a whole new wardrobe. I bought a lot of pieces from them that year, and some have stood up to many wears and washes over the last 5 years. I stopped buying from them in 2020 because I started investing in less pieces with natural fibers instead, after I accepted that wearing fabrics made from plastic every day was vastly more uncomfortable, inferior, and wasteful. Fast fashion is a cancer on this planet
The hyper over-consumerism was never sustainable. Not only for the planet and workers, but for the customer's wallet. The average Shein shopper spends $100 per month (!!!), only to wear the items a few times and donate or toss them. We need genuine legislation to address fast fashion in general, and it needs to happen yesterday. Thank you for speaking out. The average consumer has become complacent with mediocrity and slave labor.
I’ve not bought from Shein since 2020. I think I bought four shirts - two fell apart immediately!!!, one I gave to my sister, and the last one was so hideous & cheap looking that I never wore it. Natural fabrics are the way to go. We, as consumers, can teach the fashion industry a valuable lesson by refusing to purchase these cheap, toxic products. Our power is our wallet. Please shop responsibly.
I've never bought from shein, Temu or Boohoo, haven't bought from ASOS or bershka since probably 2021. I buy solely second hand apart from what can't be bought second hand (for hygiene reasons). I try not to buy anything I don't need. I'm really not susceptible to advertising either.
I have never shopped at SHEIN. I don’t like fast fashion. I try to only buy timeless pieces that are of higher quality that can last forever for a long time. I like to have quality over quantity and that is my motto for everything I have.
