Did you hear the response of the audience when Jerrod acknowledged " such a nice warm hug"... they (and me) felt an emotional release and felt it deeply.
To be hugged by another black man in your profession when the fear is rejection must be cathartic.
One of the bravest things a black man can do in this world is be himself. Wholeheartedly. 100%. Happy for his enlightenment, growth, and overall joy

Killed it on SNL. One of the best of the season so far. I'm glad he's feeling more comfortable in his own skin and hope the rest of his family comes around just as his niece did.

He’s one of those comedians that are genius. He’s intellectual with his comedy and emotionally deep. He’s an incredible storyteller and I’m proud that he’s able to finally say who he is. He makes me want to be my full self as well. It’s not easy! As he explains so perfectly.
I agree and his opening monologue was awesome! He has great timing and delivery. It's really the best I've seen and I've been watching SNL from their beginning.

I just watched Rothaniel, and for me, it was one of the greatest standups I've ever seen. Perfect blend of realness and hilarity, EXTREMELY relatable, instant classic in my view.

The charmichael show was where I first saw Jerrod. Loved the show and how it handled issues. Made me so mad when they cancelled it. So glad to see him and am impressed still. Keep it up! Being real is so important “in these sensitive times” .

I watched the special because of this interview. Jerrod did an amazing job. The mixture of jokes and real life emotions was raw. I hope for the best with him and his mom.
Loved him on SNL. The most cohesive and talented host in ages. The special is a total 180 from this. Like a therapy session. Very real and raw. I hadn't heard about Jerrod Carmichael until last weekend and now I'm keeping my eyes wide open for him.

I REALLY like watching Jerrod's interviews lately.
I've been waiting for this chat for the whole day and it was beautiful Trevor know how to bring out the bet in people he talks to and Jerrod is such a gem.... Thank you in all the recent interviews Jerrod has done for his special this was the best one thats why i call it a chat because it felt that way jut old friends catching up

Rothaniel was amazing. Its funny, I'd heard him before on specials and in interviews and I found him funny but something didn't stick. Secrets are so loud sometimes but one can't tell what's being hidden. I'm so happy for him. I'm so sad about how his family is choosing nonsense over loving their baby. I hope he has a kind circle of friends.

Jerrod's recent interviews are so heavy. I hope he finds the love and acceptance he's craving from his family. If not, I pray he can make peace with that. His HBO special was absolutely beautiful though. I'm happy he found the courage to do it in that way.
