    Oooh! Looks like the default Rodecaster Pro settings had me coming in a little hot. I'll be looking to fix this in a future tutorial. Hands up who's got a Rodecaster Pro already?

      I got it a few days ago. It's really hard to find this tools in Indonesia. I need more time to explore and make my podcast sounds better.

    Thanks for your great video! I'm wondering just how portable is this device for carrying around town. Can you fit this Rodecaster into say a backpack? For example the Adidas or Puma brand backpack sold at Costco?

      You can buy cases for the Rodecaster which will keep it safe in transit. As long as you have a 19” bag I guess you could transport it that way.

    First of all, nice job on the rebranding! Second, i love this thing! I don't have it (yet) but i played with it a couple of weeks ago. For podcast recording this is a no brainer, just buy it and you are ready to go. For live radio there are some things to keep in mind but yeah, you still can use it! Now i don't know this one yet but it seems that it work great with RadioDJ.

    The current firmware version of the Rodecaster Pro provides the ability to set compression levels and such for each channel. Since it now has this option would you use the onboard compressor or would you still use your DBX 286s to handle the compression?

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  2 роки тому

      As I already have a dbx286s I'd probably use that still as it does more than just compression but if I didn't have one then I'd use the onboard processing.

    Hi Mike, thank you for your the video. I just wanna ask you if you think this device would make difference in terms of recording VO. I have been using USB pro mic 🎙 for it? If so, then I would have a go with it.
    Cheers

      I wouldn't use this for voiceover work. I'd stick with a very high end large diaphragm condenser hooked into a processor like the dbx 286s.

      Mike Russell I’ve been recording links using the Røde since the 2.1 firmware update. Just easier to do on the go when I can’t take the 286s out and about

    Hi, I'm a female arabic voice over . I'm having trouble applying Adobe Audition effects to my voice. I think all the editing in your episodes give a great result to the male voice, but the female voice may have special settings. Can you help me find out the appropriate effects for my voice?
    Thanks

    Great video as always, Mike!
    I’m umming & ahhh’ing on this - mainly because I have a very complex set up using a Behringer Xenyx/Zoom H6 to do a live podcast which I then route through Audition for post.
    I’m frankly bored of post-production (can never remember what effects I applied so I lose consistency episode to episode).
    This seems like a solution that I can record straight into multitrack audition to touch up.
    I wonder if the USB 3.0 allows for simultaneous Skype calling through the USB fader and multitrack recording to Audition?
    Surely the bandwidth might get choked?

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  5 років тому +1

      You'd only get one USB track back from the computer all mixed together but it is possible.

    • @1974Kyle
      @1974Kyle 4 роки тому

      This is what I am trying to do as well whilst keeping the multi tracks on the sd card as ‘clean copies’ which I can edit on the pc as mp3 files. I think I am understanding the podcast transfer function but I would prefer the ability to have those clean separate files

    Just picked one of these up, and I have used it on a handful of podcast episodes now. Can’t wait to see the full series.

    Hi Mike
    Please may I check, how do I change the meter view into something I am more familiar with? So the green to yellow to red? I swore you'd done a video but I cannot find it :(

      Mike Russell Thanks as ever Mike, I have sent an email to them asking more questions as the docs are really poor! But a great piece of kit, I am trying to use as a mixer as well as a podcast recorder but it’s so difficult!

      Hi Mike, I have been playing with a few more bits and pieces which I found interesting. When I have recorded some audio, Rode said that if I used Podcast Transfer I would end up with one mixed stereo file but when i just tried it, it has created an MP3 for each track, TRRS, bluetooth etc which is exactly what I wanted. I am having trouble with the noise gate though, I am still getting some sort of hiss when sat in a completely sillent room with no PC or powered devices near it. I have decent XLR cables and AT2020 mic. I have had to set the noise gate to 0.05 on both Hold and Release to avoid any hiss (and it's not cutting my vocal out) - is this best or should I try something else? I copied your settings from the other video.
      Thank you so much for doing these great help videos!

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  4 роки тому +1

      A noise gate has to be set to the circumstances so if that works for you the you’re good to go.

      Mike Russell Thanks Mike, really appreciate the reply. My two 286s work well so I will just have different settings on the two set ups. Thank you!

    Hi Mike. Read somewhere that you cannot transfer audio from the rodecaster pro to your computer. I was told that you require an sd card reader. However in your unboxing video I saw you take out a USB cable which may suggest that you can.
    Thanks in advance
    John

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  3 роки тому

      Hi John, you can record to an SD card in the Rodecaster Pro which will record multi track for you or you can use the included USB to connect it direct to your computer.

    The Podmic Rode released looks pretty good value at £99, from the tests I've heard, not too dissimilar to the Procaster.
