Thank you Sir for this wonderful insight into Indian ink and pens. I got bitten by the FP collection bug only 2 years ago here in California and now I have I think a nice collection of maybe 100 pens. Many are Chinese, and the more recent ones of these like the Jinhao 9019 I think are lovely writers. The older Chinese ones like the Jinhao X750, or the newer Jinhao 82 - well for me these inexpensive pens were a waste of money. But I also have a few grail pens by Pilot, Pelikan and Sailor, which I very much enjoy. Yet great pens don’t have to be expensive, in fact my Wing Sung 618 hooded nib pen is a fantastic writer and I use it regularly. Then about a year ago I hear about Ranga pens, these look great and get great reviews on UA-cam, and earlier this week I learnt a little about Sulekha inks. I also learnt, that there are a billion more people in India than the US, and you have a long history FP use, along with a large industry of manufacturing ink and FPs. In fact … I tried to order some Sulekha Swaraj ink, and a Damodar FP. I tried two websites, Sulekha and Boitoi, but they do not ship to USA. Therefore, I must ask you if you can point me to people who will ship to the US? I realize that there is some Indian product here, such as Goulet Pens who sell Ayush note pads, but these US sellers have very very high mark-ups. Of course Ranga ship directly, but I know no other. Any advice you can offer would be much appreciated!
welcome to the wonderful world of fountain pens and inks. i have forwarded your comment to the owner of Sulekha. they, i believe, are talking to a dealer in usa. lets see :)
Perhaps many of us don't have so much of information about Indian fountain pens, despite being Indians. So you have done a great job by making us familiar with all these varieties of India made fountain pens . Regards and thanks
Very informative video. I have been using only indian manufactured products for the last 20 years. Once in a hot summer month in a zoo, I couldn't get indian manufactured water bottle, I decided to remain thirsty rather than going for a foreign manufactured brand, such is my vow. 🙏
As a new FP user from Singapore, it's interesting to see that the Indian makers are out there making some good products. Appreciate your knowledge on listing out the companies and their products for us to know more about and do our research.
@@inkedhappiness how can Indian manufacturers with all this history in this area help to bring this industry to a bigger audience outside of India, I know the population of India is huge and I believe there is a growing demand for good fountain pen or even solid mid tier pens that can attract the world wide audience like how Twsbi did it in Taiwan and how they are everywhere now. I know of Manga Carta due to goulet pens and ranga pens from fellow UA-cam reviews but they seems to be a niche audience within the fountain-pens community at large. I believe India has the know how and resources to make this happen. What do you think is needed for the next push to see the this happening? On the side note I did see Krishna ink at pen gallery in Malaysia.

This is helpful, especially for international viewers who don’t know much. It would have been helpful if you gave a bit more info on each like a) price range b) what is unique about the brand c) when the company started or resumed d) how one can buy their pens (online or distributor or must call or go in person) d) filler system especially since many Indian pens use eye dropper, which is not so popular overseas - except for artists ), e) size of pens since many Indian pens are quite large, and perhaps most importantly which ones write well and are worthy of collecting because of nib or hand-tooling at a reasonable price. Of course opinions are subjective but we outsiders need done advice since we can’t examine the pens at local shops. Thanks again for doing this.

What I've noticed recently with companies like Ranga and Delmoon is that they are priced towards the international customers. The good pens in their collection easily come to around 10K. That is not affordable for a regular Indian consumer. So they need to rethink their pricing strategy.
sad, but true. to be fair to them, their input costs too have skyrocketed. imported material costs have become prohibitive because of exchange rate issues. however, it should also be pointed out in the same breath that some manufacturers are now focused more on maximising their per unit returns. it is sad, but such seems to be the way of life.
@inked happiness rightly pointed. Your content is very good and informative. But it's more of a podcast rather than a video. Pls introduce pics and closeups of pens, inks and writing samples.
I had a very disgusting experience with Ratnam Pens. The quality of the pen supplied was very substandard I had purchased Ratnam 21 but the nib was very scratchy and also had issue of burping. I tried to contact the person several times but he had not shown Amy Courtney either to answer my call or call later on. I will never recommend these south based productions they are very substandard in that given price one can easily purchase Sheaffer or newly launched parker 51.
You are right, they are most cheap people I found in the quest of fountain pen, the have already sold the respected name of KV Ratnam, they are only cheap class Ebonite turner., and unfortunately the descendants of First swadeshi pen maker.

Hello gentleman, What's your opinion or experience on the Mohi fountain pen brand ?
gimme some time, let me show you a mohi pen one of these days :)
Sir, which is the best water resistant ink available in India
sulekha has prepared a permanent ink - it is under testing. please wait for sometime.
Platinum Carbon Black is the gold standard on waterproof inks and they’re available online on Amazon India.
Sir, is there anyone in India who makes or supplies calligraphy dip pen ferrules?
i thought they were widely available on amazon? you can contact kanwrite for all things nibs :)

What is the blackest black fountain pen ink at a reasonable cost.

@inked happiness rightly pointed.
