      erie matic Listen. If they can fool people into feeling emotions such as love, anger, happiness and all kinds of genuine human perceptions inside the matrix then what food tastes like is no problem at all. The premise behind Mouse's logic is false.
      First of all it's not dead machines we're talking about here but an artificial intelligence, which judging by their technology and the very existence of the advanced world-wide neural simulation called Matrix is clearly several leagues ahead of our own. In reality the matter of what food tastes would be no issue for them.
      Second of all the idea that since artificial intelligence/machines don't eat they wouldn't have any idea how food tastes like (which btw is *highly subjective* even for humans since we have different tastes believe it or not) is silly. They obviously know how our taste glands function. WE know the chemical compound and molecules of different kinds of proteins, fats, carbs, minerals etc. Sugar tastes sweet not because WE think so but because our taste glands register them as sweet. In fact since we are so dependent on maintaining a level of blood sugar it's no wonder we crave sweet food and enjoy it so much. It's therefore not some "great mystery" how our six different taste buds can decipher what the composition of the food we're eating is made of and thus how it tastes. Fact is the eye is way more difficult organ trying to simulate. After all our retinas reflect light in different angles and from a color spectrum highly dependent on the medium it travels in. But since there is no natural light in the matrix how did the machines get THAT right?? Far more difficult.
      So are you seriously telling me that the vast artificial intelligence which have studied humans down to our tiniest molecules and also have the knowledge to create an ultra-advanced simulation are utterly clueless how our tastebud functions and how different chemical compounds would react with our tastebuds and thus get the taste?
      Fact is it would be far more likely they got our tastebuds perfectly working which would make us taste everything stronger and more intense than our real bodies. That being said it's no sweat programming in "random flaws" in the humans in the matrix so that they develop allergies, heart diseases, alzheimer's (shutting down the input signals one by one to mimic this horrible disease) , obesity etc etc.
      Another thing: People in the matrix obviously have families, children and grandchildren don't they? If the artificial intelligence/machines can make a program which perfectly mimics the gene-swapping which happens when a male and a female conceive a child and the child ends up looking more like either parent, how is figuring taste bugs and chemicals interacting a huge mystery for them?? Here's a funny thing, they'd also have to include infidelity with randomly conceived babies (since this does in fact happen in our reality with people being unaware of their actual fathers).
      This line sounds good if you don't think very much. Makes sense at face value. But once you start thinking it through it immediately becomes short-sighted and silly.
      "Mouse got a very good point" Only if you don't like to think it through.
      "Mouse is a very very underrated character." *Never ever* use "very" twice.

      Put simply, all they'd have to do to mimic any of these things is take a few humans and attach nodes to measure their brain impulses, study the patterns when feeling certain sensations, tastes, sounds, etc. And stimulate those parts of the people's brains go force them to experience these things. So, if they want to simulate the taste of foods, all they'd have to do is take a few test subjects, hook them up with nodes to measure their brain activity, and feed them those foods, then record those brain impulses, find the common patterns between the test subjects and stimulate the brains of the people in the matrix to simulate the taste of food.

      Well, rather Mouse looked at the question with a fresh pair of eyes, and a simple view of things, not bogged down by previous history, conclusions or thinking. This is why often times when developing something, it's always good to bring in someone who hasn't seen it, touched it or know what it is, because they may see something rather simple that you dismissed or didn't even see it in the first place because your thought processed is kept up in the "higher level" thinking because you have been working on it so long.

    • @VideOhMonster
      @VideOhMonster 10 місяців тому +7

      The statement "to deny our own impulses is to deny the very thing that makes us human" suggests that our human nature is closely tied to our natural instincts and impulses. It implies that denying or suppressing these impulses can be seen as going against our fundamental human qualities.
      The statement highlights several ideas:
      Impulses as a fundamental part of human nature: It suggests that our impulses, desires, and instincts are an integral part of what it means to be human. These impulses can include basic survival instincts, as well as more complex emotional and social drives.
      Authenticity: It implies that embracing our impulses and desires can be a path to authenticity, as it allows us to acknowledge and express our true selves. Denying these impulses may be seen as repressing one's true nature or conforming to societal norms and expectations.
      Balancing impulses and self-control: While the statement emphasizes the importance of impulses, it doesn't necessarily advocate for unchecked or impulsive behavior. It's also important for humans to exercise self-control and make rational decisions to navigate the complexities of society and ethics.
      Whether the statement is accurate or not depends on one's perspective. It captures an aspect of human nature and personal authenticity but may oversimplify the complex interplay between our impulses, self-control, and societal norms. People often strive to strike a balance between honoring their instincts and conforming to rules and values that make society function harmoniously.
      Ultimately, human behavior is influenced by a wide range of factors, including individual differences, cultural norms, and personal values. While impulses are a part of what makes us human, it's also the ability to reflect, make choices, and exercise self-control that distinguishes us from mere automatons.

For all we know, “tastes like chicken” may have been a cliche phrase that didn’t exist before the matrix and people in Zion may have only picked it up as a result of the matrix. "It's a single celled protein combined with synthetic aminos, vitamins, and minerals." Here's what this actually means:
    "A single celled protein" - A protein obtained from growing a single celled organism. A bit like how quorn is made.
    "Combined with synthetic aminos" - Combined with extra amino acids. Using a single source for protein inevitably means that you're going to be low on certain amino acids (which make up proteins). Also, if their only calories come from protein, they'll need to add extra amino acids that convert more easily into carbohydrates and lipids.
    "Vitamins and minerals" - Vitamins and minerals are necessary for life.

    • @Crowbars2
      @Crowbars2 4 роки тому +14

      @Relinquished Calories come from the proteins and fat in the single celled organisms. Proteins in general, have the same amount of energy as carbohydrates, ~4kcal/g, fats have ~9kcal/g. When they say that the "single celled protein" contains "synthetic aminos" I'm assuming they need those extra amino acids to make up for deficits in the single celled protein, and also, not every amino acid can be burned in the Krebs Cycle. Some start being burned earlier on in the cycle producing more ATP, so I'm guessing there would be more of those. Depending on what cell type it is it should still have at least some fiber. Fungal cell walls have a lot of chitin which is similar in some ways to cellulose and can therefore act as fiber. Plant cell walls contain cellulose. Bacterial cell walls contain peptidoglycan, unfortunately peptidoglycan can't be used as fiber because it's digestible. Either way, these cells will also invariably contain at least some structural polymers which can act like fiber.
      I've heard of people consuming liquid diets, in which they drink all the vitamins, minerals, and calories they need like with a product called soyulent. Those people claim that they stop feeling hungry all the time and only defecate once a month or so, so they don't need as much fiber. What they're eating in the matrix looks a bit like these liquid meals and I would assume they would also stop shitting as much, and not be bothered too much with feeling full, massively reducing their need for fiber.
      So I think they guys aboard the Nebuchadnezzar are doing just fine.

      No nut is dumb.
      It used to be no-shave november (or Movember) and the point was to raise awareness to prostate cancer and other male problems.
      Also, not nutting for a month is really bad for your health, so enjoy your "disciplined" pleasureless month ane prostate cancer.

    Mouse was absolutely right in his question: How the hell would the Machines replicate every taste imaginable into the Matrix considering they have no taste buds ? .How could they replicate Sounds they could not conceive ? .Something that could emulate reality almost perfectly is too much for an Infinite amount of Machines to build .
