The brainwashing through media is the matrix. We watch this while we think it is something else is the matrix. This is it. Being told how to think rather than live in reality. All of this KS a psyop.
The craziest thing is, everyone in the cast was supposed to read giant book on nihilism and philosophy - Lawrence Fishburne was the only one who didn't read it. There might be more to it, but this was what I remember. His acting is just slightly different than others because he didn't read this massive philosophical thing, and yet he nonetheless made this entire movie next level, and it may have unintentionally worked to this trilogy's advantage.

The funny thing is that with AI tech on the rise, is that Morpheus's line "We marveled at our own magnificence as we gave birth to AI" fits humans today since so many people are using AI for so many things like writing papers, doing art, and even voice generation.

This entire scene is a master class of exposition in film, brilliantly written and of course brilliantly delivered by Lawrence Fishburne

Unlike Hermoine exposition-ing the wereworld is HP 3, how lazy
For an exposition dump, it has a talented enough actor and good enough effects to be engaging, but it isn't good exposition, it's a dump of exposition.
Metropolis (the movie that both The Matrix and Dark City ape in terms of themes and style) by Fritz Lang has a masterclass in exposition using visuals and music cues to create and exposit a world unlike anything else ever seen before on film. Hell, even Dark City does a far superior job at expositing about its world without dumps (until the mini-dump by Kiefer Sutherland at the end).

The way Morpheus unapologetically states the way things really are in this scene, without sympathy or any restraint, unfolding all of this horror, that in my opinion is what make this scene so memorable.
I always found the loading construct intro so cool. You expect to hear echoes, footsteps or ambient sounds other than their voices, but there is nothing. Even Morpheus sunglasses have no reflection at first because it hasn’t rendered yet. Only when Neo interacts with the chair or when the tv turns on you hear sound effects.

His reaction after he got unplugged seemed pretty on point. If someone were to genuinely experience that, I imagine they'd pass out from pure shock.
As Morpheus says, especially after they've reached a certain age. A child or teen can be easier to free, they haven't fully understood life yet.
I partly think that it was partly because of all of what Morpheus was telling him in this video, I think it overwhelmed Neo. I mean, when you think of it, everything up to however old Neo was at the time of when they freed him, Neo realized was one giant lie made up by a computer program, that's a lot to take in.
