      I'm interested to hear your opinion of Norco eMTBs; I have the 2023 Norco Fluid VLT A1. I'm totally new to eMTBs but I am really enjoying this bike. I have ridden it to work four days this week and each way is 10km with an unavoidable river valley to traverse along the way. Certainly I would like to hear your comments on my particular model but if you have opinions generally about the Norco VLT line, I would really like to hear that too. Thanks!

    Steve. Can I take you back a few months when you pitched several bikes against each other in a timed climb. The Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay beat the all the other bikes not by a fraction but rather a country mile. OK I know absolute power isn't everything but you were mightily impressed. However the bike does even get a notable mention in this list. Are they not paying you enough?? Price can't be an issue given some of the other bikes you list. PLEASE EXPLAIN!!!

      Too right Stuart! I knew there was a few i'd missed out there. In fact the RM was ahead of the curve eight years ago right?! And now with the update they did, still some bike. Could that be number 10 you think?

    Brutal , this episode should just have been named "best sponsors ebikes " with a few otbers thrown in for good measure. Basically, same old rides we see week in week out , you would think canyon, whyte and more recently kellys are the only main suppliers of ebikes. 😂😂😂😂 no 10 was a complete new list of minor sponsors. Rocky Mountain was described as a complete machine of an ebike in trials not so long ago now its gone , no mention , no place for any sworks specialized / ibis , transition , scott ...privateer... big world out there that could be discussed in detail.

    While I like the idea of the Pinion, the problem is, that it's currently more like a beta version, pretty noise and some shifting operations aren't that smoothly sometimes (at least I heard about, didn't test it myself yet). This means, as soon as there is a new improved version coming out, it will become very difficult to sell bikes with the old flawed version on the second-hand market or, if so, only with huge discounts. Of course, that's always a problem with "new products", but since these bikes are pretty expensive in comparison, I would not be willing to take the risk to be honest 🤨 If there would be a guarantee, that you can replace this motor with an improved version for a reasonable price later (battery+display need to remain compatible), it would surely be beneficial to reduce the fear 😁

    • @embn
      @embn  2 місяці тому

      Who knows 🤷‍♂️ It will depend on what is needed to fix the flaws, from out testing the noise wasn't a huge deal. But if Pinion use the same mount layout that would mean that the consumer would be able to swap out for a newer model if they choose to do so. Or potentially even 'upgrade' their current motor's internals so solve some of the issues.

    • @e_mtb
      @e_mtb 2 місяці тому

      @@JamesGoddard-i7s I agree, the prices drop significantly on all models, a huge problem, but on the other hand I don't see myself as an investor, I pay the full price (and they are not cheap), so I am not willing to deal with some major flaws. It seems, that they have released a motor, that is not yet ready to be released. Would you buy a car with a motor, that has known flaws just to keep a company "in the game"? Might be a personal preference, but I would clearly not, I would wait for a second version where they fix these issues and if they are running out of money until then, I am not blaming myself, then they should have paid more attention to their first version. They always claim to have worked on it for several years, but why is it failing in real world environment so badly? That's always hard to understand, same with Fazua, which totally destroyed their reputation over the last year.
      Might sound a bit harsh, but that's how the market works everywhere, I don't see why the bike industry should be handled special in any way, even less if they are asking for prices that are coming more and more closer to a car. If someone wants to support this new tech, he/she surely can do so, personally I would not see it as an option at the moment. Might be changing, if these issues can be fixed via software update, but it sounds, like the problem is in the gearbox itself, so it's unclear at this point if this is possible
      Regarding the battery tech from Kelly, I am pretty sure that Kelly is not producing these batteries on their own. If they have these connections to a battery producer, a company like Bosch (one of the biggest electronic companies in the world, they produce and sell millions of electronic tools and ebike motors each year) surely has them too, even with better conditions, so it seems more to be a business decision from Boschs' side. Probably cheaper and they know the people will buy it anyway, so they can push out the maximum of profit with older tech.

    👍There are to many choise to day😂.
    I just sold my Yamaha moro that I rebuilt with Marvic mullet, Öhlin RXF36 170mm fork, Fox factory coil (216×63 instead of 210x55), XTR groups with 10-45T shots cage.
    It had a very nice geometry ,but,,,,, I didn't like the lack of change the power of the diffrent modes, witch I as a person that "race against the battery capacity" wants to have opportunity to do😂.
    I had to try a full power Emtb and now that is done. I stuck to my 3 low power Emtbs that I built from frameset. One 35Nm, one 50Nm, one 60Nm and this winter I maby finde som other projekt😋😉.
    This is my life just now, ski in the winter, built a bike while longing fore the summer😂😂😂

    Got myself a DIY build your own E-bike kit , wasn't disappointed with mine i assure you 😊, Built my own ebike very easily , have built most of the bikes I've owned , this was easy for me I've experience as said , love my bike it's transformed my life and lifestyle ten fold , Bafang 48 v / 20 ah battery on a Naimp kit with a 1500 w Beast of a motor and it's paradise to ride , can Cary a range of 12 to 20 miles on just one full charge and is so smooth to cruse on. As long as you get the correct battery for the kit and read up on correct battery charging and care safety you won't have any of the problems the nightmare stories in the news are shaming the bikes with. Trust me , all you need to do is make sure your battery is compatible with the intake of the motor and the control box , next remember these key things : don't charge when sleeping , be at home while charging and make sure the charger is 1 compatible with the battery or supplied with it 2 only charge if the battery has been resting for half an hour with no use prior to charging and avoid long term functioning battery usage in weather temperatures about 28 degrees c . Store your battery in a reasonably cool place when not using it regardless of if it's stored on the bike it should be kept in the shade when not in use for long periods of time , Simple things to remember and easy things to do to stop or prevent battery fire , bye your battery and kit New from a reputable trusted seller who's definitely got additional genuine public feedback on there review section that is good compliment on there advert from the general public . Do these acts of care and experience NO problems with your battery.

    This video is ridiculous! The Cannondale Moterra SL has rewritten the rulebook for all time on full fat eMTB and is the first full power superlight (19Kg) design from a mainstram brand. Sure I know DJI have their equivavalent, but that's hardly a mainstream brand and frankly most people will struggle to find one anywhere. What disappoints me most of all is that I watched your channel when I was buying and yet now I can blatantly see just how biased your coverage of bikes is.
    Editorial integrity is everything as a review site and to ignore the one e-bike that has single handedly changed the game is simply unforgivable. The fact it was released in the past few months to huge acclaim and is a bike you can ride or buy in thousands of bike shops worldwide right now only compounds the folly.

      Interesting point, Moterra SL is awesome for sure, higher torque, lightweight at 20kg, truly great geometry...it's just that if we're tallking weight the Kelly's is 820wh and 20kg whereas the SL is 600wh and 20kg right? You're totally right very much needs to be in the mix, let's put it in as a possible for top ten, that's whole point of this, just not sure it has 'singlehandedly changed the game'. Let's see if we have more takers for that spot ...but i will revisit this with your comment

      @@stevejones7956 Thanks Steve - I do suspect that the way forward in eMTB will be decreased weight for full fat ebikes and the Cannondale would seem to be the first from a mainstream manufacturer that is leading the charge. Personally it was out of my budget, it doesn't have a Bosch motor and as you say it only has 80% of the battery capacity of a normal full fat but it's clearly the way things are heading.
      Personally I just bought the Cannondale Moterra Carbon 1 as it was heavily reduced and is I think around 24Kg with 750 battery and Bosch motor.but I'm a big guy and prepared to suffer the inconvenience of a heavy machine to move around. The reassuring thing is it doesn't feel heavy when I ride - it actually feels very 'alive'.

    The truth is that the ebike industry is struggling , most are losing money on all the bikes they sell. They had it good when everyone was sitting home. Now the economy is changing , and the prices are way overpriced for what is at the end of the day, a bike with an electric motor. Compared to a motor vehicle, the tec is low tec, but they want car money lol

      Too ass heavy on rear but they work great. I had a front wheel drive. It sucked even on the street and especially around corners which could be particularly dangerous. I just don’t know about all wheel but I’d try in on enduro rides and give it a shot. Mid drive for now.

    You keep saying "literally" just done this and that. Do you know what that word means? If you couldn't have figuratively done those things, then literally is the wrong word. The correct word is "actually" not "literally".

    So you got to 9 in what you consider the best, couldn't make it to 10 and yet you name a further 9 worthy of a mention, you gave the only forward thinking package, Nicolai no time at all and Canyon too much time, all in all, a pointless exercise.
