Long post coming: I bought one recently for a work watch (aircraft mechanic in the mid east). It's way more comfortable than the rangeman and I use all the functions, baro and temp cause I work outside a lot, gshock cause I'm always hitting my watches on stuff, and compass because all of our Incoming attacks come from the south. I use the auto light option as well. Plus you can change the time to 12h/24h, not on the app but doing it on the watch itself. My only worry is the band, rubber doesn't react very well to jet fuel and methyl ethyl keytone (MEK) so I may try to find a metal or fabric band. But this watch is crazy useful for me. I got the green/black version.
Good review. I'm surprised you can keep it on working your job. I'm an AMT myself and everything comes off of my hands, watch included, when I start working on the airplane. In many cases, I can't get my hands into some spaces with a watch on of any size, let alone this burly guy (though I love it and want one!). I'd also be concerned about those very things you mention: solvents and fuel.
5 million 20 ATM WR watch models use batteries that have to be replaced every 2 or 3 years and nobody blinks an eye, but the Mudmaster needs a battery change and everyone loses their minds... Why wouldn't the watch be water-tight after the battery change, at least if it's done right? Why does changing the battery or sending it to a Casio agent "scare you to death"? I just don't get it. I don't buy the "what if I'm lost in the middle of the forest and the battery runs out" thing - the watch willl tell you the battery is low weeks or months before the battery actually dies. Besides, solar cell batteries also expire after a few years and those are much more difficult and expensive to replace.
these watches are expensive, you can't afford waterdamaging them. yes, you can change the batteries at home, however, you can't pressure test it. many ppl don't know how to replace the seal ring, or atleast grease it a bit. you either did it correctly or didn't. and it's too late when water damage happens ("i should've had it tested'"). this is a kind of accepted risk at entry level watches, 40-100 range is not a big deal. 200+ $ watches is a big deal. as for solar cells, they're good for a good 10+ years.
I LOVE this watch. I changed my battery a couple weeks ago and just got new o-rings with the battery. It’s fairly easy to do. Water tightness is still top notch. I work on the water and was able to verify. Nice video! Keep it up brother.
the battery replacement is a necessary evil. they also cleaned my ggb100 and pressure test it, greased up the rubber ring etc. i mean to have your watch checked every 2 years ain't that bad in my opinion.
After 2yrs of use the battery is going strong in my GG-B100. It's just GWG-1000/GWG-2000 on a diet. And people are crying about solar and forgetting about how casio watches have the best battery power in the watch industry. Casio watches are known to last ten years or better.
It's actually mind-boggling to think how little capacity is available in the battery and, somehow, Casio is able to stretch that out to *_years_* of use, with all the sensors, motors, and lights, not to mention the micro-computer that makes it all work. It's truly a marvel of technology!
I have this one, and the GGB100-8A which has the positive display. They're both equally legible in all light situations. It's just a design preference. These are not the old negative displays that were hard to read.
Well...I just bought one. I think it looks amazing, paid 500ca for it. I’ve watched so many videos omg!, there’s so many watches🙄 the gwg 1000 made me drool but the price made me cry😢 it would have been over 1k. I’ve had a g-shock for years. #14 on the top 15 video I watched lol and it’s taken a beating , believe me. So yea there tough. I really want something reliable, and manly arh arh arh! Awesome video man, now to go and take it out of the case and hopefully enjoy. Cheers!
I have a new all gray model GB100_2 with a positive display that I own and love, but I still like that black dial with the negative display because it looks really really good when the dial & digital display is entirely black, trust me I’m going to buy that green version with the gold LCD in black background display because I owned it in & sold it and regret it now…the gold font negative display looks so good with the gold accents along with the gold reset button. Also the battery change on this watch you can do it yourself..there are good videos on UA-cam and it’s very easy & doesn’t take long and you won’t scratch up your watch when you do it yourself.
this watch has a lot of awesome features nobodies doing a video on.. the second hand for example works as the barometer or altimeter and measures pressure/altitude in real time.
I want to buy one of those for my grandpa. He is forest ranger and basically walks mountains, its just these watches seem so complicated for elderly people.. I wish they had simply a compass & altitude without having to push some buttons
From what I understand the solar could not be applied to this watch due to compatibility issues with design and function. Changing A battery every two years is nothing to complain about.
Growing up Seiko was the brand my dad showed me so I've always held them in high regard, still have my first one. Also growing up g shock were the trend great to see both having great designs I'm back to collecting and citizen is a brand I've recently found I appreciate as well.
Lost all confidence in this GG-B100 watch as hour, minute & seconds hands stopped working 1 month after purchase. And it's not the battery, it's a module failure. I've never had a watch fail like this, and I bought this thing for durability and reliability. Glad I wasn't hiking in the woods! Happy with my GST-B100 solar though, I'll keep that one.
I have the ggb100 and it's the first gshock with a figure 8 calibration and I have always used the world time set to UTC because I never understood why you would follow your own shadow around and keep hometime the same as world time. Except when I calibrated the compass daily after doing the altimetric calibration and differential clearances of record. I've discovered calibrating the compass should be done with the world time set to home time or it will throw it off dramatically. Next time you go to calibrate your gshock with a compass. BEFORE switching to UTC. Calibrate it at hometime/worldtime AND THEN set the world time back to UTC. I honestly am not sure if that is just my O.C.D. kicking in but it seems to be way more accurate. Especially considering this watch is 360 degree bearing measurements from a figure 8 calibration.
Love the mud master. It’s a great looking g shock. It’s a big good looking watch. There is no doubt there are a ton of features on it. I use 3 of them. I can live without solar powered so not a total deal breaker considering function along with looks. I had the gwg 1000 and sold it because the of the protruding bezel and the 3 position which really became uncomfortable
Thanks for the review! I really like the look of this watch, but I have a 7 inch wrist and I am not sure this would fit me. How large is your wrist if you don't mind me asking? Thanks.
olle, the negative display is created by using a thin polarized foil over the usual lcd screen. you can create a negative display with all lcd watches this way. i guess here its only designwise black. thanks for helping you.
Thanks for another fine vid. I don't think you'll ever get 2 years of battery life will all those functions. Tough solar it needs! I hope you can turn off the auto dial light!
LOVE the negative LCD. It is possible more people prefer this. Nice not to have a cheap gray patch. Blends nicely. I’m sure G-Shock does preference studies before mass manufacturing.
I have a GAB2100 (Bluetooth "CasiOak") with a negative LCD. I have a love/hate relationship with that LCD. On that, particular watch, I hate that the LCD is incredibly difficult to read in anything but the best lighting. But, I love that the LCD blends in so nicely on the black dial; it is completely unobtrusive. The lighting on the watch takes care of any readability issues with the LCD for a few seconds at a time, though. I also have a GBDH1000, with the whole dial being a single, negative LCD. That watch has no legibility problems at all, even when looking at small text in dim light. I've never had a problem reading that watch. I guess it depends on which LCD technology they use in any particular watch.
Thanks for this informative video. Personally I don't care about solar because I live 5 minutes from an authorized Casio dealer. I just let the store fix my watch. Practically for free.
There are videos for it, but it's not that bad: remove both sides of the strap. That will reveal 4 Phillips (size "0" I believe) screws to remove the case back. Once the case back is off, remove a thin rubber insulating sheet. Next to the battery, there is a latch that's recessed pretty deep into the watch. Carefully use a small (jewelers) screw driver or a push-pin to undo the latch. Remove the battery - it will probably stick to the adhesive label that reminds you to do an "all reset" after battery change. Peel away carefully. Put the new battery in ("+" side facing you) and press the battery cover down to re-engage the latch. Do the all reset as indicated on the label over the battery. Put the insulator sheet back in, re-attach the case back - make sure the rubber gasket is seated properly. Re-attach the straps. The whole thing is roughly a half hour. With the back of the watch off, be careful not to turn the watch face-up - there's a tiny spring that contacts the case back and provides power to the piezo-electric beeper for the sounds the watch makes. If you turn the watch face up, it's possible for that spring to fall out. If it does, you'll probably never be able to find it because it's so small, and your watch will be forever completely silent.
I wish I could find a simple checklist of all G-Shock watches . For instants I am looking for a three sensor G-Shock with altitude, temperature, compass and no Bluetooth. I would love to simply have a list of every G-Shock watch that offers this with nothing less. It is so hard to find exactly what I'm looking for and I have almost given up.
The "log" keeping or record keeping your talking about isnt about the barometer its about logging the time and altitude of your hikes. ect. itll tell you the time of your recorded hike as well as the altitudes of it.
How can you not read the display! It stands out like dogs balls! Concerned over water resistance? If that's the case you should be cracking your solar powered watches open every two years to inspect and lube the O-ring?????? I don't get it?
I was wondering the same thing. Took me a while to find out but it’s used for navigation. You can connect to the app and input a destination, the seconds hand will act as an arrow pointing you in the direction you need to go using the 30°, 45°, 60° and 90° markers 👍🏼
You may be aware or not but these are solar and only ever rarely require a solar fix but super rare. Generally the band and plastic casing will fall apart before the module itself dies.
Not a Maverick Review.. The 1 O'clock button is different because its a COMPASS ... It's one of the best G Shock watch I've seen but wish it's a solar powered watch...
I don't own this but think I'm going to soon. The feature I wan't most is the pedometer but like the others as they will be useful. I had looked at the G Shock Move watches but besides the Step Track and stop watch the other features don't matter so much. Yes this is almost 3 times the cost but these other feature's I can use. A huge bonus with this watch is it looks so much nicer. Yes solar would be nice but you still need to replace the capacitor/battery but less often. I have an Eco-Drive(solar) Citizen which will admit is a nice feature. G Shock has a solar mud watch but it's $800 which I think is out of line price wise. I figure I will replace battery and gaskets every other time myself and have dealer do it the other. The biggest thing this is missing is a sapphire crystal
casio underestimates the battery life to avoid legal problems (difference between manufacture date vs purchase date - no one knows in advance). if you fiddle with it every day, then you can drain the battery even faster. if you use it occasinally, it might last longer. i have a watch, estimated for 3 years, runs on the same battery for 7+ years.
yes, i cringe everytime the led light comes on. put the brightest led in the world on battery powered watch, well done casio. even their $5 calculator has solar
@@danielloera25 but dont forget: solar wont last forever, only as long as the battery charging cycles. better to use a sturdy automatic winding watch in worlds-ending on very long sight.
Hey not sure if you watch... watch geeks videos but he also reviewed a G-SHOCK gravitymaster a few hrs before your video, you should try reviewing that watch too, its badass.
I got Mine and I am looking to sell it already. Not designed for A working man! You see those Giant buttons on the right hand side? They have A sharp metal triangular pattern on them. When you bend your hand backwards (like when you push off of something) those sharp buttons have nowhere to go but the back or your hand. By the End of A hard work day (assuming you labor) the back of your hand will be raw and uncomfortable. It's A very bad design flaw that I am surprised that they didn't consider. I see people selling these on eBay stating that it was too big for them. This is probably why they are selling. I'm not looking for A watch that I have to remove so that I can work or do A pushup. Aside from that, the the features are largely gimmicky. The Bluetooth is unnecessary. The tracking is A gimmick that you will never use due to the fact that it requires your phone and is far inferior to an app that will do the same. The negative LCD is hard to read unless you have light directly overhead whether outside or indoors. The only features that I really needed were the compass, barometer altimeter and thermometer. The step tracker is nice to have though. I bought A used Pathfinder for $50 and love it way more than this watch. It's got the sensors and does everything this watch does minus the gimmicks. It's solar, comfortable and looks cool. This watch looks nice and that is really all I have good to say about it. If you're looking to buy it for looks then go for it. Don't buy it for work in the field though. You'll be upset.
It's not a cool looking watch it's all technology man seriously if it's not solar it's not worth the money I'm going to tell you right now I don't want to send my watch to Casio and get messed up in the mail and I don't want to take it apart and put a battery in no way Jose
I have it in the orange and black, totally agree with you on the solar. I have a LOT of G's with this one being my least favorite of all of them. The Rangeman GPR-B1000-1JR and Rangeman series as a whole being my most favorite followed by my Frogman's then Mudmasters.
Thanks for the info Bro. Just bought 1 today on Ebay for $350, Hope it's Authentic... Funny that this Moron called you stupid when "it" couldn't even spell correctly, not to mention the Grammar... Sandy Kulung? Kulung means Jail or Prison in my Country... naka-kulung means, Jailed or in jail... With "It's" attitude? I won't be surprised... By the way, would do a vid comparing genuine and fake on this model?. Thanks and have a great one....
Long post coming:

Totally agree. Changing this batt properly is easy and any issue with water leaking is nonsense.
That's a serious looking piece of kit.
Good vid as usual.
The negative lcd looks better in my opinion. normal one looks cheaper, at least on some models.
Looks better if you don't intend to ever want to actually use it

One of my favorite G-SHOCK watches!!!
Count me in! The longer I own it, the more I enjoy it...
Best looking mudmaster ever
Yep
Lost all confidence in this GG-B100 watch as hour, minute & seconds hands stopped working 1 month after purchase. And it's not the battery, it's a module failure. did you trouble shoot? This has happened to me on 2 different models. I freaked out, but then went on-line and learned how to reset the hands.
Why are you spamming on every video about gg b100??
Why casio?? Why not adding the tough solar on this watch. I just dont understand.. why why why why???
Looove your reviews. Your humor. Cheers. Kiwiland would love you
The simple answer to negative LCD. Is looks better than positive. Get use to it.
That's your opinion of course. Many people prefer a positive LCD display and hate negative LCD displays. Nothing to "get used to"...lmao.
I like the negative LCD as well. Easier to read for me.
True negative display looks better in my opinion and is easier to read
Looks great has some excellent features, but as you (and others say) No Solar is the deal breaker for me!
Great review and thanks for sharing 👍🍻
8:33 Casio website says you can set the timer upto 24 hours
Thanks for the video!
Solar powered cell would be definitely the ultimate feature for this watch !!
Especially considering this watch is 360 degree bearing measurements from a figure 8 calibration.
Multifunction watch without solar?
Great review dope i luv G-shock I’ve been a Casio fan since a kid. As well i luv big face watches only 52mm and up 🙏💪🏻
Love the mud master.
Thanks.
I share the same concern over the band possibly not fitting - I have an 8" wrist.
Have one and love it. Solar would be nice but i think it will last long anyway. Maybe its due to battery reasons the have a neg display?
olle, the negative display is created by using a thin polarized foil over the usual lcd screen. you can create a negative display with all lcd watches this way. i guess here its only designwise black. thanks for helping you.
Just got this for 200 bucks on Craigslist!
So how do you like it?
Thanks for another fine vid. I don't think you'll ever get 2 years of battery life will all those functions. Tough solar it needs! I hope you can turn off the auto dial light!
My understanding is that you can indeed turn that off. I could see that being a huge drain on the battery.
I wonder if in the future they might be able to incorporate solar into the band so it would have the juice to power this watch.
I guess it depends on which LCD technology they use in any particular watch.
Negative LCD is my preference, watch looks cooler to me...agree it’s a personal thing.
I'm a watch junkie. Especially G shock. This one looks AWESOME! How do I get to your Amazon store? I'll figure it out.
Thanks Chris, I appreciate it :)
Thanks for this informative video. Personally I don't care about solar because I live 5 minutes from an authorized Casio dealer. I just let the store fix my watch. Practically for free.
Nice review, a bit large for my taste, but I do really like the brand.
It has 6 Pushers don’t forget the 💡 pusher lol , does the negative display kills the battery faster , I have the same model.
Na mate, your good to go.... Just enjoy it... Best G ever
How you change the battery?

It is so hard to find exactly what I'm looking for and I have almost given up.
Try the gw9400 or gwg 1000
Cracking review pal you always brighten my day up keep up the good work 👍
Thank you sir. That means a lot!
Great video. I'm looking at getting one real soon
Very good video that helped to me to finally set my gshock
Thanks.
I like it for the step counter. Can’t stand wearing my G-shock and a Fitbit.
I’m the opposite, I love negative lcd and think positive looks cheap.
The display is only clear under direct light. Even on A sunny day if you are in the shade in A vehicle it's hard to see. It kinda sucks to be honest.
Thanks for the review!
Do they make a watch like that solar ?
There are is a Mudmaster that is solar. Most of the Protreks are solar with equivilate features.
Nice review!
im trying to figure out what the big graph is on top that says 30 60 like a ball game at chuckie cheeses
will surely be used for barometric pressure.
I was wondering the same thing. Took me a while to find out but it’s used for navigation. You can connect to the app and input a destination, the seconds hand will act as an arrow pointing you in the direction you need to go using the 30°, 45°, 60° and 90° markers 👍🏼
It's easy to change the battery, just need a few basic tools :)
Im excited to get one when its available in my country
The ability to turn negative display on and off would be a win for everyone. How difficult could that be to program?
I could be wrong but might not be a programing issue but a display difference. Like how and led isn't the same as a plasma so can't render the same.
i love my mudmaster...but i would never throw this watch into mud....
How will you change the battery? Do you have to send it to gshock?
seems to have the usual 4 screws in the backplate, no worries there.

I figure I will replace battery and gaskets every other time myself and have dealer do it the other. The biggest thing this is missing is a sapphire crystal
what is that mean when you said '' 2 years of battery reserved " ? it will dead after 2 yrs ?
Yes, it will explode after 2 years exactly :)
casio underestimates the battery life to avoid legal problems (difference between manufacture date vs purchase date - no one knows in advance). if you fiddle with it every day, then you can drain the battery even faster. if you use it occasinally, it might last longer. i have a watch, estimated for 3 years, runs on the same battery for 7+ years.
Looks like when you take the band off there's 4 screws holding the back off. Pretty obvious in the picture you posted
the back needs to be easier to get into for battery change. Solar would fix that.
Got other G Shock with same function and Solar but expensive so go buy it this one is not for weak human
What do you mean about the "'reversed lcd" cant seem to figure out.
The lcd screen is on the lower part instead of the standard upper part of the dial
@@k3nvalenzuela67 Good one :)
Reverse LCD means that instead of dark or black numbers on a light background you have light numbers on a dark or black background.
How to change date format from MM/DD to DD/MM?
You can't! So I was told..
No solar power makes it a no buy for me and I'm a big G shock fan.
I'm with you brother!
Yeah I’d agree. If the world was ending and I had to wear a brick, it would need to be equipped with that solar power tech
Agree, looks are good, but maybe trade some of all these functions for solar and a sapphire crystal :-)
yes, i cringe everytime the led light comes on. put the brightest led in the world on battery powered watch, well done casio. even their $5 calculator has solar
@@danielloera25 but dont forget: solar wont last forever, only as long as the battery charging cycles. better to use a sturdy automatic winding watch in worlds-ending on very long sight.
Does it have phone finder
Yes it does
Problem is with these abc gshocks is your only gonna get about three years out of em before they need new batteries.
Why is that a problem?
Hey not sure if you watch... watch geeks videos but he also reviewed a G-SHOCK gravitymaster a few hrs before your video, you should try reviewing that watch too, its badass.
Nice Mudman
Hey dude, nic vid, I' appreciate it if you could turn down the music a little next time, it is quite distracting. Thanks.
Thanks and you can also turn down the volume on your computer and/or phone.
I've heard that you get to the battery through the face side of the watch by the screws.
How do i replace battery then ?
Don't panic brothers . Lol
The battery is removed as per standard i.e. it says under the case back and it's easily replaced.... Nothing to see here..
Take the straps off. Basic small screwdriver.
Nice watch but no solar eh..big no..
So it's not a 'button' it's a 'pusher'...
Lmao
Make the same watch Solar, Atomic timekeeping, and bluetooth, and I'll buy one. Probably over a thousand bucks and higher?
Agreed on the solar. Still a fantastic watch. Battery is very easy to change out (did it right after I got it just to start with a fresh one),
Yep , but I’ll buy it now also
Solar affects the bluetooth connectivity
Where did you hear that?
Plenty of other G-Shocks have both, so no.
@@maverickwatchreviews He read it from a comment made in G-Shock hi fashion YT channel! It's the first comment pinned...
You didnt show world time swapping
Correct
Get rid of the analogue, the digital is what was so cool about g-shock to begin with. That way they could make it solar.
there are for decades analog watches with solar panel available.
👍
Thanks for the info Bro. Just bought 1 today on Ebay for $350, Hope it's Authentic... Funny that this Moron called you stupid when "it" couldn't even spell correctly, not to mention the Grammar... Sandy Kulung? Kulung means Jail or Prison in my Country... naka-kulung means, Jailed or in jail... With "It's" attitude? I won't be surprised... By the way, would do a vid comparing genuine and fake on this model?. Thanks and have a great one....
Falcon1911A1 who is moron it you.
The watch is too big for me...
HOW MANY SENSORS ? ?
Four sensors:
1) atmospheric pressure (altimeter / barometer)
2) compass
3) thermometer
4) accelerometer (step counter)
THE CASIO PRO TECH IS BETTER
