Just got one last week and I love it. People keep talking about the lack of solar power. They forget that when you change the battery you can replace and service the watch at the same time.
Long post coming: I bought one recently for a work watch (aircraft mechanic in the mid east). It's way more comfortable than the rangeman and I use all the functions, baro and temp cause I work outside a lot, gshock cause I'm always hitting my watches on stuff, and compass because all of our Incoming attacks come from the south. I use the auto light option as well. Plus you can change the time to 12h/24h, not on the app doing it on the watch itself. My only worry is the band, rubber doesn't react very well to jet fuel and methyl ethyl keytone (MEK) so I may try to find a metal or fabric band. But this watch is crazy useful for me. I got the green/black version.
Yes I too am using this beast for work. I work in the forestry and use all the sensors. The barometer helps me with change in the weather, and I also use the last position setting to find my backup fuel for my chainsaw. Very helpful indeed.
@@4BlueDrummer Yes the GG-B100 is awesome, and after a little research I've found that this beast is what some of the U.S Marines are using and so is my cousin who's in the NZSAS. My cousin was using the Rangeman GPR B1000 but found it unreliable for some reason, so he brought himself the GG-B100 last year and loves it's simplistic adaptability.
That’s a great deal. I’m wearing my gg1000 mudmaster, that I bought 14 months ago at a GShock event at an authorized dealer in North Texas. I just like the look of it, even if it’s big. Definitely comfortable. It’s amazing how they moved the functionality of the twice as expensive model down into this one!
I've yet to come across any analog battery powered g-shock that didn't last at least 5 years. Casio lists the DW6900 as having 2-3 year battery life where in actuality, owners see closer to 10 years, my self included.
I found a 5 pack of energizer cr2025 batteries for $4 on Amazon. Being able to easily change a non solar battery yourself potentially extends the useable life of the watch, imo. I need to look up how to change the battery on this model, but it can’t be too hard. I won’t disagree that solar would be cool to have though.
I'm picking up a GG-B100 Mudmaster with the Khaki Green strap, yellow accents on the dial, red pressure sensor and gold button on the side. Love the features on the phone, the engineering that has gone into the Mudmaster is impressive. Built like a Sherman Tank that will take anything you can throw at it. I don't mind it not having solar charging and sapphire glass. This watch is gonna be a replacement for my Garmin Fenix Six Pro Solar which was a good watch, but got fed up of charging it and my wrist was having a reaction to the material the strap was made of.
you're a machine. no idea how you produce so much content, all of which is first rate. love the channel. would love to see you review straps too, and maybe do some modding tutorials, if you have time!!
I calibrate the compass everytime the location changes on the hands. for example it calibrates in the 3rd hour hand until 5am and then the calibration hand moves from the the 3rd hour hand to the 8th hour hand. after 9am it switches to the 9th hour hand and I believe after 10am it moves to the 2nd hour hand. If you want more accurate readouts inbetween those times you can use 2 point calibration. for example a lateral readout at odd hours instead of finding a single bearing during those odd times.
There are two points on the clock that the compass calibration doesn't spin the watch backwards. These two points are within the 11th hour and the 5th. When you calibrate it. The hands part at 2 points on each side of the watch. At 11 the watch will spin up to 2. and then CONTINUE around the clock back to the 11th hour. Same for the 5th hour it will spin up to 8 and then continue around the clock back to 5. It's not a HUGE importance. Except when you go to calibrate it at any other time it runs itself over. AND you'r barometric readouts on the top left button become smudged. Next time your in the 5th hour or 11th hour go ahead and figure 8 calibrate the compass and youll understand what I am talking about. This goes for the grb200 too. I am assuming. its the same watch.
Ivan Petrenko I have a Casio g-shock tough solar under a $100... There is no excuse other than it would put their Mudmaster series that cost $750+ out. Their prices are horrible.
This wears smaller than the GG or GWG 1000's for sure. The rear of thge case is smaller/rounder on these carbon core models. Making them very comfy. Good review.
One of my favorite G-Shock models in my collection. And after 2yrs the batteries is still going strong, these watches takes like 2 or more batteries just like the non-solar Pathfinder/Pro Trek PAG-40.
Can I make waypoints and record a log if I am not paired to the phone? Maybe pair them later to view the route? Seems like if you are out all day this would drain your phone battery.
Not solar? Also not radio controlled (although the smartphone connection replaces that). But kinda disappointing because these aren't the cheapest G-Shocks or even the cheapest Mudmasters.
Bio-plasmic Toad if you were in a crazy place with no atomic then yeah, i think the bluetooth ramped up because of the talks of the fort collins shutting down, but im a conspiracy theorist now because epstein didnt kill himself.
Did you remove the caseback gasket and lubricate it with silicon grease? Did you inspect the gasket and caseback thoroughly and pay attention to any dirt, fibres and hairs that might be sitting between the caseback and the gasket? I bet that’s what caused the gasket to not seal.
Everything you said applies to the watch, no question about it. Just as far as android is concerned it needs version 6.0 for the app to be available at all. Therefore, if you use your mobile until it falls apart you might not have the right software which renders the whole watch useless. Learned this when I bought this watch yesterday and returned it to the shop today.
i'm pretty sure the founder of g shock said the reason why there isn't solar power is because it is not compatible with the bluetooth functionality. just thought i'd let y'all know
