These are the most important types of conversations we can have in the 21st century. We have technology, means of communication and transmission of information between countries and citizens who are instructed to hate each other by their countries that we have never had in the history of world conflict. This is reality. People, average people, don’t want this for each other. Thank you Jon for doing this and an even bigger thank you to your Russian friend “Mikhail” for risking his safety and survival.

I'm so grateful you made this conversation possible. I feel like way too few people around the world realize what is happening or care. I talked to a friend in the US recently and many see it as a far away from home thing. But I think this is the biggest mistake we can make. This concerns us all, European or not. The energy conflict we are having and will have coming winter is just 1 of many side results of this war. Let's hope we can all prevent further escalation because who knows how far Putin is willing to go. Keep having these conversations, they are so important.

He’s not taking any risk at all here. Tbh I don’t agree with this message one iota. Putin isn’t the antagonist at all. He is clearing out the Deep State strong holds throughout the region. People literally only believe what the TV tells them, but if you look at what Russia is reporting, the reports are completely opposing the U.S. coverage. This only means one thing, the United States or Russia is lying and I don’t think Russia is lying. I say this being a pure American Patriot, born and raised. The United States sadly has become a financial and military hub for the deep state and so has the Ukraine but for money laundering, developing bio-weapons, human trafficking and much worse.

I was born and raised in Russia, I lived there for 30 years of my life, and I was forced to leave three weeks ago. If I hadn’t left, I probably would have been sent to kill in Ukraine by now. Now the country is being mobilized, men are being subpoenaed on the street and sent to fight even without training, like cannon fodder. We’ve had our independent media taken away, our freedom of speech taken away, our lives taken. Even if you write "no war" on social media, you’ll be found and fined or arrested. I love my country, I want to see it develop and move forward, but I hate our government, which for many years has only been engaged in its enrichment and purchase of yachts, and now has started a terrible bloody war.

War was going on for 8 years, because Ukraine has officially admitted that these people are terrorists.

Easy to say "that's because he's crazy, he's a dictator". Easy to interview ONE side instead of taking different poinys of views. Easy to take off all the responsibility from yourself joining army of empty minds who consume everything they're fed with from tv. Easy to judge by patterns.

You utilize reactionary reasoning to shift the conversation over to men as whole.
Like the problem doesnt stem from the individual and any lackeys that follow them being deranged, no the problem must neccessarily be by virtue of them being men alone. Im not so convinced women in the same situation would have kissed, held hands and made up. Perhaps they may. Should we be letting geopolitical issues be dominated solely by women then? How is that not sexist?
Oh Ill do you one better.

So quick to draw a conclusion despite in the same sentence admitting to not knowing whether it is true or not.

So in order to make my point Ill disregard any examples to the contrary and conclude women as being too blinded by their pride, ego and greed to consider protecting their home.

Two of my friends are in other countries now, they needed to leave fast so it's their wifes who are finishing some stuff here and will join them later with their cats. Yesterday another friend of mine with her husband were going somewhere, and police just stopped them and brought them to recruitment office, and today at 10am her husband should come there with his things. They are just taking him. And if he won't come, he's most likely will go to jail.
upd: they are trying to legally fight with it, so rn he's not going anywhere.
In this video you're asking what people think about it. It's really hard to say, because there're a lot of different people. A lot of just working people or elderly people who watch tv are brainwashed - they believe in what is told to them. In social media though, I see that there're a lot of people who are against war. Like thousands. If someone is brave enough to ask on their page about it (someone who is not in the country now, for example), you can see in the comments a lot of people who are against, and only a few loud ones, agressive ones, who are blaming them and calling them traitors.
I've heard, and I think that it's true, that for some of these people it's really too hard to even think that what if they are wrong. Because it will make them "bad". It's easier to think that "we are russians of 1942", than "we are germans of 1942". Because this will shutter their world, all what their feet are staying on. And no one wants to willingly become without earth under their feet.

Came to these comments hoping to see a lot more people who recognize what you and I and I'm sure others do as well. One of the first things he said was "The people here don't have arms" and continues on to describe all the unimaginable horrors they face for speaking out as a direct result of that. If that doesn't show people how sacred that right is, I don't know what will and if they think it can't happen here, they are only able to think that because we still possess the means of resistance.

That's a first one where i thubs up that type of this conversation.
Americans talk on these podcasts amongst each other about 'what's going on inside russia' and i have not seen any thought of inviting someone actually living inside russia or even Ukrainian for that matter.
As a russian those conversations have been upseting me these eight months. That's why this one sounds really refreshing.

unbiased truth...if it came from a human than there is no such thing as "unbiased". One can do their best to try an be as unbiased as they can in the moment but there are plenty of factors that make one biased. The thing is being aware of one's bias. I think you just used truth poorly here and applying it in a way that is subjective.

Thanks for this interview Jon! It's good to know what are people from the "enemy" country feelings towards this war (I'm from Poland). I'm glad that so many Russians are really against the war and there are rallies in Moscow. Sadly the situation there is similar to what we had in Poland between the time after II World War and 1990. You couldn't say a bad word about the government, it's actions or you'd have been arrested for imaginary, made up and far fetched reasons. We as Poles also faced the same situation during our history as Russians are facing now. In 1968 Poland had to participate in pacification of Czech's people mass protests against thier communist government - Prague Spring. We shared their feelings against ours communist governments, we hated the fact that we're being governed by communist mugs that we didn't really choose, yet still we had to participate in the invasion, as otherwise young soldiers would be thrown into prison/killed etc. My grandfater was one of the many tank crews that were sent to Czechoslovakia to pacify the protests. He was later arrested for not ordering his crew to open fire to the people in the streets, as he saw regular, ordinary people like him and his family on the streets, throwing rocks at the tanks and fighting against better equipped militia. This was observed by the next tank commander who was pro-communist and he then denounced my grandfater, who was sent to prison for several years for being and acting "against Polish People's Republic and the Polish Communist Party and it's best interest". My father was also regularly beaten by the militia and thrown into prison for several days, for acting against the Communist Party. He had regular situations like when he was riding his motorcycle in the streets, he was harrased by the militia that his bike was "not in the best shape, lacking something" etc. then he was even thrown off his bike (kicked) by the militiaman while he was riding his bike peacefully. It's horrific that Russians still have to put up with such government and police harrasment even after the USSR collapsed in 1991. All the best to you Jon and "Mikhail"!

As a Polish citizen living very close to Ukraine border I need to say that I am very tired (yeah... I am tired and what abot ukrainians fighting, eh? - yeah you can call me pathetic) with constant war machines flying in the middle of the night or with simple thought that in the matter of minutes vast majority of Europe if not the World can just vanish because of 70 yo old mad man. It terrible just to think about and yet our Ukrainian brothers are fighithng there for us right now. The thing most westerners do not realize is Putin gets a lot of criticism in Russia. People speak out against him quite a lot, even on TV. Even in this war a lot of Russians have spoken out against him but not in they way you think. He has always been criticized for being too pro european. In this conflict he is criticized for going in with a very soft approach, limiting the military ability to do its job. Westerners need to understand that if Putin goes, what comes next is someone very hard line with a huge amount of support.

People of Ukraine voted for president Poroshenko in 2014 because he promised to stop the war in the east in 2 weeks.
Poroshenko became a blood sucking criminal, who increased the number of soldiers in the army and was making money on that (selling them trucks and things like that).
Then people voted for Zelenski (70+%) because he promised to stop the war and he said to Poroshenko that he is his 'condemnation'.
And did nothing to stop the war. And even sent signals to Putin that there is no peace solution, that Ukraine wants nuclear bombs.
Several days later Putin started the special military operation.
Zelenski support in Ukraine dropped from 70 in 2019 to 20+% in 2021.
Now it could grow again, but it's temporary.

and to be honest, it kinda translates over here in the US as well. When American police officers do the same things, almost with the same severity, they lose their humanity as well as much as they dehumanize the citizens they took oaths to "serve and protect." If there's one thing I wish Jon Bernthal would take to heart is the message and motives that his Punisher/Frank Castle role had. The government and police are not your friends even if you got to stand side by side with them. Sincerely, a 12-year US Navy veteran.

I have been a huge fan of Jon's acting work for so long. Now, these videos are showing us the true Jon- not the portrayal of a character. I've only just discovered he was doing this channel, so I have many to watch. So far, I have been blown away by Jon's interviews. There are people who have done interviews/journalism for their entire adult lives that don't have the chops Jon does. I'm VERY glad I stumbled across one of the videos. I have a rule that I don't join Patreon for any channel. Being honest, it's due to living under the poverty level. I'm going to look at my budget and see if I can manage/afford to join this one. His messages are topics of importance and need to be heard IMO.

It's sad and disturbing that one person have so much power ultimately over life and death. I believe if we can go back to a time that when you proclaim war as a ruler that you should fight with the soldiers side by side on the front line. What does Putin loose? What personal price does he pay? Innocent people loosing their jobs, homes they paid mortgages on for years and worst of all, their lives. Is the cost worth it? Then I believe that the instigators should also be prepared to pay the price. Life is precious and I am grateful that I do not have to live in fear every second of my life. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

On the subject of people going to the front because they don't want to go to jail, it doesn't seem very different to me from the situation in the United States. With so much history and experience behind us, we know that the people who go (or force) to war are the poor, the marginalized, in the case of the United States, blacks, Latinos and the few members of indigenous peoples. I don't see many businessmen, bankers, arms manufacturers, people from Wall Street, oil companies or from Silicon Valley talking about how worried they are about the children they have sent to Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Red Sea or to support Israel...
