They've lied to us, stole from us, and don't care about us, they've earned our distrust and a lot more like hangings. Obviously not every single one is that way but let their actions speak.

    • @racerex340

We are empowered to hold them accountable, we simply choose not to and allow ourselves, our brothers and sisters to be manipulated, to be led astray, to be fueled with hatred for each other and blame each other for our problems. Our constitution gives us the right and the mechanisms to take the power that we've entrusted to them away without having to string them up by their necks.
Regardless of political party affiliation, we need to all step forward and demand the changes that we all surely agree with to get corruption out.
      1. Term limits for everyone, 8 years regardless of role, including SCOTUS, make it impossible for them to make it a career in which they can dig in and enrich themselves.
      2. Make it a felony to knowingly lie to the public, and extend that to anyone who calls themselves "news".
      3. Kill citizens united, all political donations are public record, removing the loopholes that allow foreign assets to provide support to our politician's campaigns. Ban corporations from contributing to political campaigns. Also limit contributions to $100 max per person.
      4. Ban lobbying, corporate interests shouldn't be able to use their money, power, favors or promises to buy policy or control our politicians, they work for the people, not the corporations.
I don't know anyone who isn't extraordinary wealthy or already a politician who disagrees that the above changes should happen, yet we allow our politicians and/or our political identities to think otherwise. We can get corruption out of politics and government, we just choose to let them convince us that it's hopeless, that this is just the way it is and nothing we do will change it.

@@racerex340 I agree with all that, add any politician to be hung if the try to restrict any right or put forth a bill that wishes to limit them especially the second Amendment for example and I'm 100% down. But the part about us not holding them accountable is our biggest problem we don't care about shit unless it hurts our comfort or conveniences nobody wants to do shit until it's beating at the front door.

    • @racerex340
      @racerex340 2 роки тому +1

@@mortem-tyrannis I'm a 2A supporter and constitutionalist, but I can't agree with you thay "any bill that wishes to limit the 2nd amendment" is grounds for hanging someone. The idea that the 2nd amendment can survive without limitations as completely insane. No limitations would mean we should all be allowed to own .50 cal machine guns, grenades, middles, etc. The 2nd amendment had a few different purposes, one was the ability to defend one's self, another was to defend our nation against foreign forces, and the last was to defend ourselves from tyranny in our own nation by removing a tyrannical government if necessary. Warfare weaponry has modernized to the point where we could never actually fight our own government and win given fighter jets, drones, missiles, GPS guided Bombs and artillery, we'd never stand a chance even if we all had machine guns, our military is the most powerful in the world, more powerful than the next strongest nation by a factor of ten at least.
That said, all legal law abiding citizens should be able to own firearms for self defense, hunting or even just collecting, but that doesn't mean we should just blindly allow anyone to own any weapon. There are restrictions that make sense and still allow us responsible law abiding people to own them. Convicted felons should never be allowed to own or use a gun (already illegal but too easy to get around), and some people just aren't mentally or emotionally capable of responsibly owning a firearm, these people are the ones that end up committing mass shooting events. Not only do we need to stop gun show sales that can skirt background checks, but we need to make it harder to buy a gun for someone else, make the registration legally tied to the owner who faces felony charges if the weapon he bought was used to commit a gun crime unless reported stolen. Make parents legally responsible if their children use their gun to commit a crime and they're found to have improperly or inadequately secure their firearms. I'd actually support mental screenings every ten years to maintain the ability to own firearms, pilots have to pass a grueling physical and psychological screening every 5 years to keep their ability to fly planes because of how dangerous a plane can be when improperly handled or a disturbed individual uses it to kill hundreds of people, I'd be willing to pass a screening every 10 years if it meant I get to continue owning firearms and emotionally / mentally disturbed people do not.
All that said, gun ownership is a right afforded to us via our constitution. We have many other constitutional rights afforded to us that require qualifiers and nuance, you have the right to freedom of speech, but you cannot say certain things like state intent to murder freely, gun ownership isn't any different. The constitution originally protected slave ownership and even gave slave owning states "three fifths clause" voting powers, those things either phased out or were amended / modified because they no longer fit the times or represented America with their original intent. We can apply common sense to gun ownership that still constitutionally protects our tight to own them while also factoring for modern weapons technology and doing a better job at keeping them away from those who aim to commit large scale violent crimes like mass shootings with them.

Unfortunately, politics attracts the worst of humanity. They may not all be bad but the vast majority of the political elite are inherently bad people who only want power and money. I firmly believe you cannot be both a successful politician and a good person.

I feel bad for Wes here. Jon asks a great question, but I feel like anyone in politics knows the answer. The average American doesn’t give a single fuck about politics. Local election turnout is incredibly low. People don’t care. It’s much easier to say “oh my god! He’s so corrupt! All politicians suck!”, while at the same time, that person doesn’t even know their state Senator or state representative. It’s an information issue, but mostly a responsibility issue. Want to trust politicians? Take time out of ur day to learn politics. It’s an ugly game, but it comes with great rewards when voters are unified.

Sorry, but even if Wes is being sincere (which I'm not convinced he 100% is), he will quickly conform to the status quo once in office, as all politicians do. You can talk about your track history. Bernie Sanders did this. But, when it comes down to it, what do even people like him do? Conform to the status quo. Why? Because the two political parties wield such power over your fate. They can easily fund your corporate rival, and money almost always dictates who wins.
Ironically, Wes' response to the question he was asked about mistrusting politicians was "I hear you." Meaning, he acknowledges it is a systemic problem.
As someone who is former military, he should be all too aware of the effect of the 'culture' over your good intentions; likewise for those who join the police force.
If he's sincere, he needs a game plan for how he's going to overcome these neo-liberal politicians. No politician has succeeded so far in joining a bad team and trying to change it. They bend to its will.
