Dude, all these podcasts popping up where the host just cuts the guest off continuously is so frustrating (Steve-O and Howard Stern come to mind). Jon lets them tell their story and only "interrupts" to get them to elaborate is awesome. He really does want to hear their stories...

I spent 15 years in prison. Today I’m bartending and raising my 3 year old son with my beautiful Salvadoran wife. Sometimes I feel sorry for myself for what I could’ve been. Then I think, 5 years ago I was making .17$ an hour coming off 2 years in solitary confinement. Success is relative to where a person has been and what they’ve been through

JB is a master at listening. You can also tell it's not some bullshit act. You can see it in his eyes that he's genuinely engaged. It's part of his craft. To be a great actor, like him, you have to observe and listen, and that's precisely what he does on his podcast. I've never seen a podcast where the host doesn't interrupt the guest. This dude just listens and lets his guest spit everything out. Podcasters pay attention. This is how you do shit the right way.

I can honestly say that Father Greg is the only guy that can live up to the standards the Church sets for its people to follow. He's the only priest that is true to their word.

Thank you Jon for giving these young, misunderstood men a platform to voice their experiences and tribulations. So many young men AND women fall into gang life all over the country, and very few care to ask why. The majority are quick to judge, but never bother to try and understand what they’ve been through. Some of them just need someone who will listen and care. Gang banging culture is often glorified in the media, and that is a problem. There’s a difference between expressing real pain vs. claiming a lifestyle.

Doing time inside I was tango blast our enemies were many but having your homeboys back is for life. I'm a truckdriver now over 20 years I was released in 2000. . This hits so hard inside of me. Listening to Richard open like this reminds me that all of us, no matter what state, what we rep, our street, what nationality we descend from and for a lot lot us, the nationality is north America even. The border moved on my mother's side of my blood. When California became a state, the landowning families that had established succeseful Vinyard companies and produce farms became American citizens and they were all Mexican by nationality but Iberian by descent. They came when Spain came, they settled in Califas way before a lot of European immigrants even came here. Most of the Ortega families have been American longer than all of the colonists. Both of my ancestors, Ortega and Correa were here before the fucking pilgrims and the colonists. So some people would say I'm Mexican and I'm like, no not really. I'm not an Aztec in not Mayan My dad might have been born in Mexico but we were conquistador descendants. we are Iberian, the Ortega are Iberian. So I say I'm Californian and Floridian. I'm more American than the white Amercans who forget They are not natives and America is a Spanish name. We named this place. My blood from Europe came in 1502... anyway. No matter where our names come from. La Raza is la Raza and when I listen to Richard be open and passionate, I see a cousin, a brother, I see me and it makes me wish I could just gather all of us up. The Chicano youth in every state. Every cholo, banger or just a homeboy thats down for his shit but never had to commit cuz were not all active. I would love to have us all just open up and just listen to each other... we are all the fucking same. The culture two or three states away is exactly the same as the other. We talk the same, we bottle up the same, we explode the same, we put up the same hard shell and if we all would just drop it at the same time and talk. We would see we got an army of men, young men even kids that are the most closed up of all. And we all have the same pain that we channel into rage and we just want to warrior up and call out another warrior because like Richard said, we didn't have anything but other warriors to listen and care. I think if we saw ourselves in the eyes of every homeboy we might introduce ourselves instead of throwing up a set, we might just take a stroll and give an ear to each other instead of giving each other a T.o.H.. man I wonder what a fantasy like that could do for la Raza if it became reality.

Very much enjoy your podcast Jon. I am not too big a fan of tv shows but loved walking dead. My neighbor actually just won a contest from jeffrey dean morgan(neegan) which he videotaped himself packing up dirt from the front of rick & michonne’s house in Alexandria set from walking dead. Bagged, autographed and mailed to my neighbor.
Thought you played an awesome role as ben afflecks brother in The Accountant as well as being Shane! Keep up the amazing work and thank you! 🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏🤜🤛
    Cheers 👋👋🍻🍻🥂🥂☕️☕️🔥🔥
