Tropical Ocean TRAY! 🐠 Flip Cup Pour With No Silicone And A Resin Finish

- Let’s paint another wooden tray today! For this one, I’m doing a simple flip cup pour with no silicone, then finishing it with a layer of tabletop resin!
I started out by priming and spray-painting the tray with Rustoleum spray paint. Check out how I did the resin layer here: • Painting My FIRST Tray...
My paint is all mixed with floetrol (about 2:1 floetrol to paint) and thinned water to a medium-thin consistency. Paint-mixing video is here! • Mixing Paint for Acryl...
White (semigloss interior house paint)
Caribbean (Apple Barrel)
Metallic Gold (FolkArt)
Phthalo Blue (Blickrylic)
Phthalo Green (Blickrylic)
Metallic Sea Mist (Craft Smart)
After the paint fully cured, I washed it well with soapy water and rinsed it. Then I gave it a resin coating with Let’s Resin Tabletop Epoxy Resin. I used 100ml, which was the perfect amount for this tray! Find that resin here: letsresin.com/... (affiliate link)

A quick note about epoxy resin safety. Even resins marked “Low-VOC” or resins that don’t have a strong smell are still POTENT CHEMICAL REACTIONS that make harmful vapors. Please stay well protected, it isn’t worth risking your health for a craft.

Thank you for doing this. I’ve been hesitant due to not being able to tip off! Looks amazing!!! Love it!!
✌️💜😊
Thanks! Yes just make sure you don’t have way too much paint. Good luck!
Anna, this is stunning! I love the colors, especially the gold and the green!
Thank you so much!
I did a tray. The dollar tree had some cute wooden ones. This is great. I don't have a lot of space and it worked great. And I didn't waste paint.
I’m glad it worked well for you!
This is so beautiful, I bet it will sell really fast, thanks for the shout out ❤
Thanks for the inspiration! 💚
Love this and love the shout out to Claire. I started watching your videos after Claire suggested it.
Thanks! Yes she and I are like long lost twins 😊
I made that same tray awhile ago, but added stones and made a beach scene. It was fun to make!

Hi, Anna. I was watching a few of your videos, and ran into one video where you are singing with the kids, and you should go into singing cause you have a very beautiful voice. Should try America got talent.

Looks amazing.
Thank you Dianne!
This is awesome!
Thanks so much!
Anna this turned out really pretty. I’ve been doing these trays for a couple of years now and not only are they my biggest sellers, I’ve learned a lot along the way. I used to tape the edges but unless I’m doing a Bloom on them, I don’t tape anymore and have found that they look more organic one resined. I have a couple of videos on my channel. These make perfect gifts and items for craft fairs. Beautiful job my friend! 🤗💕
Thank you Treesie! I definitely like clean edges so will probably continue to tape the edges. Do you resin yours, and if so what do you use?
@@AnnaBlountArt oh absolutely keep doing what works because this turned out gorgeous! I think what I meant about the tape was, I must not apply tape very well bc when I removed it, sometimes there’d be a gap between the tray and the edge of the paint so I’ve just learned a way of tilting that keeps my edges clean but the paint goes all the way to the tray. I have no idea if that’s even making sense but def wanted to make sure I didn’t use my words incorrectly. 🤗💕 I just must not be a good taper. Haha! Yes, I do resin and I either use KS Resin or Stone Coat Resin. Much love!🤗💕
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
I love it!
Thank you!
Very nice!!
Thank you!
love it🙋♀
Thank you!
❤ it
Thank you!
Beautiful! I'm going to try this afternoon 😊. Did you wait until the paint was completely dry before removing the tape?
Thank you! Yes I did, though you could possibly try while wet…
I'm guessing cup placement when you turn them over is crucial to what your looking for and number of cups. I like it. 😊. Do they make a plastic or nylon tape just for wood ?
Yes about the cup placement. Not sure about tape…
I think this video is the ONLY one out there that addresses the sides and the potential overlap. Now I just need to listen better and remove it using an exacto!! Mine was a mess on the edges. They bother me alot.
Thank you! I hope you can get yours cleaned up or painted over…
@@AnnaBlountArt I ended up painting over it twice. So I pulled up previous pours and started from scratch. Happy with the results, which were sadly before I got your tip about the exacto. Im back at it today with newly found logic! Lol! Thanks again.
love this! I'm doing my animal room which I'm calling Turtle Cove in an ocean theme! I've seen your micro swipe videos of the seahorse and I'd love to do one. Also thinking about doing a sea turtle as well. How would it work if I did a silhouette all the way around the turtle instead of just one side, would I need to swipe towards the middle? Thanks for the inspiration and any advice! Would love to see you do a sea turtle to lol
I LOVE sea turtles but haven’t figured out the ideal way to do it yet! Check out my blue micro swipe butterfly though, I swiped from the middle, inside a full tape stencil.
Do you seal the rest of the wood tray with anything? It's super pretty!
Thank you! The spray paint is already a sealer, so no I do not do an additional top coat.
Did you calculate the total amount of paint needed first? Really gorgeous! Where do you get your trays?
Thanks! I got the trays at Walmart.com. Yes typically I multiply the length x width of the canvas and divide by 16 to get how many ounces of paint to use. But since this painting wasn’t going to have any paint tipping off the edges, I only used about 2/3 of that calculation.
After you flip the cups can you slide them some in different directions before lifting them up ?
Yes I sometimes do but there wasn’t much room here.
