That's a nice bloom that you did. I used to use a paint base from Canadian Tire to mix paints and it worked fine. However when I began to use pigments I didn't get any shimmer or shine and I asked Jodi from Painted Dreamer about it. She said to put a drop of base on a colored material and let it dry. If it dries brownish it will be okay, but if it dries white that means that there is titanium in it, I think is the word, and it will block out the shine. So that was immensely helpful to know.
I just used your discount on the link you posted and bought the deluxe mixer with stand...the very last item that I knew I would need before starting my paint and epoxy crafts! They also carry a safe, "no voc" type of resin... Thank you! 💜
Yeah I have to think of what to use it for because I’m not sure how thoroughly it would mix a thick tube paint, but certainly it has a lot of potential! The smaller paddle helps a lot. These paddles are a really nice shape.
Hello. Thank you so much for the very informative video. I’ve heard Shelee’s recipe before (several times), but for some reason you have a way of making it stick. As always I took notes because of all my failures so far. Your painting is super cool and the colors are amazing! I’ve been researching for colors along this same palette, so it’s now confirmed! Lol. Thanks again!!! ✌️💜😊
I haven't used a mixer yet and I haven't done a bloom yet and I haven't done any resin yet. I'm still learning how to do pours. It's time to start doing the rest. Thank you for the lesson.
You’re welcome! Just as a tip, bloom pours are probably the hardest technique in fluid art, and resin is a hard “finish” to get perfect. Don’t be ashamed of staying simple for a while! I have a whole playlist of techniques that are more beginner-friendly 😊
Thanks for the recipe for the bloom technique you did. I have done a few blooms. They are so pretty. I like the way colors mix and mingle with one another. I love the mixer. I will have to get one!
Beautiful 🎉❤ Im new to this types of pour but Ive noticed you as well as a few others use spinners that have these types of turning extensions, do you buy them, or make them? If purchased where can they be found?
Very cool!! So what makes this a bloom pour compared to other fluid art? Is it the blowing first and then the spinning? I need to look for Australian Floterol; I have American Floterol. We've done the dutch pour with the blow dryer and then the "regular" with the swiping of the activator and then tilting the canvas. I absolutely love this creative outlet!
@@AnnaBlountArt ah! Ok so I guess we've mainly been doing bloom swipe! Can't wait to try something new! I'm now considering, because of a few of your videos, buying mica powders. We have been using acrylic paint, pour paint, and Microblend brand interior/exterior paint+primer in white. And Behr semigloss enamel as our pillow paints. We were also using a black semi gloss but I don't remember the brand. lol
It’s house paint straight from the can! I don’t remember if for this video I used semigloss as the pillow, but Lisa Marvin recommends Glidden Essentials house paint in “eggshell” as the pillow.
Thank you so much for this video! Ihave a question about yours spinner: what is the dimensions of the sticks and the rounded base Is that a custom made Looks very convenient to work with.....
I have a question that I hope maybe you can answer ...so I have triple thick polyurethane and Behr deep base how can I make it so it's not as thick should I add water ... floetrol?? Both ?? Thank you your awesome
Hm, I haven’t made the recipe with triple thick polyurethane. For me, the polycrylic is the thinner ingredient, so I add more of it until it’s thin enough. I really don’t know what water would do to a bloom recipe but you can always try
Hi Anna. This was great as usual. I noticed that in the notes you wrote the PM as 3:1 Behr to Poly. But in the video, you said 2:1. I'm guessing the 2:1 from the video is correct, but then you added 2 more oz of Behr. Can you please clarify? Thanks
Yes! I wasn’t sure what ratio I needed, so I started with 2:1 (2 oz poly and 4 oz house paint). But then I saw that I DID need more house paint, so I added 2 more oz. The final ratio was 3:1, so that’s what I put in the description box.
Hi, where you can get the Behr 8300 Base... ? I can't find it anywhere! There is a special way to ask for it, or they are not selling it anymore. I just found the one that looks the same "PREMIUM PLUS® Interior / Exterior Hi-Gloss Enamel" but doesnt says 8300 or Deep Base. Thank you
When you first started you said 2:1 then you went on to add 1 part polyacrylic and said you would add 4 parts Deep Base. 2:1 does not eqal 1 part Polyacrylic to 4 parts Deep Base . But I think you mixed 2 oz Polyacrylic to 4 oz Deep Base so that is correct. What am I missing here?
Yes, I started by mixing it 2:1 Behr to Polycrylic. But after the first mix I decided that my mixture was too thin, so I added another 2oz of the deep base, making it 3:1 Behr to Polycrylic for the final ratio.
I am sorry if this is posted in another video, the quality of my video is too blurry for me to see the type of polycrylic you are using, there are types from ultra flat to gloss. I feel like you are probably using semi-gloss or gloss, but just interested in your formula? Thanks for your videos, they are very helpful
I watch your video on the test for 4 different cell activator and you said American floetrol. In this video you refer back to that test video and now your saying Australia floetrol. I know Australia floetrol makes great cell but which one did you use in both the test and this video. Sorry this is long but i realy need to know. Thank you.😮
In the test of four, it was US floetrol. But now that I’ve bought Australian floetrol, I primarily use that in my cell activator, so that’s what I used here.
I found that video later. I did my own test and I like my ca the best. Amsterdam paint American floetrol min wax wood conditioner. Thank you for doing the videos.
I said I’d start with 1:2 and see how it went. It turns out I DID need more house paint, so the final ratio is 1:3, or 2 ounces of polycrylic and 6 ounces of house paint.

Thank you! Yes, the clearer and glossier your base paint, the shinier it will be!
You’re cool. And THANK YOU for this wonderful video! 🎉🎉🎉❤
Aw thank you!
You break things down so nicely!!!
Thank you!
Thank you very much , now I know a lot more about bloom pouring and I gone try it
You’re very welcome! Good luck…it’ll take some patience and practice to get it right, but it’s really fun!
I've learned a lot from this video. Thanks for sharing.
I’m so glad!
Love that sparkle!
Me too! So shiny.
Lovely work,thank you 😊
Thanks!
Beautiful painting
Thank you!
I love your turntable 😊
Yes it works well!
Thanks for the recipe! This turned out beautifully! i love the colors and the shimmer!! 😍
You bet! Yes the shimmer is amazing!

Thank you! 😊 Even with a low/no VOC resin, please keep safety in mind and wear the proper PPE!
That is an interesting tool. I have somethign similar and have thought of 3d printing my own attachment because they are always too big.
Yeah I have to think of what to use it for because I’m not sure how thoroughly it would mix a thick tube paint, but certainly it has a lot of potential! The smaller paddle helps a lot. These paddles are a really nice shape.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and talent…as well as your humor!!! 😂😂😂 Love it!
Haha my pleasure! I’m glad it was helpful for you!
Wow thank you for sharing xx
You’re very welcome!
What a great day you two had. All those wonderful finds. The horse safe and ear rings plus all those tools. Love the video😊
Thanks!
Lovely results! You are definitely the cleanest paint pourer I’ve seen! BTW, that’s a compliment!
Thanks so much! 😆
Thank you so much!!

Thank you Anna, this came out beautiful
Thank you Juanita!
Very beautiful work was wondering where you got your spinner? Did you make it?
Thank you! Yes I bought a wooden lazy Susan from a craft fair and made a new top for it.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. In fact I’m looking for resin mixer. If I can see your larger spinner? Where did you got it from?
You’re very welcome! My large spinner is homemade…I bought a wooden lazy Susan from a craft vendor and then my husband and I put a new top on it.

Thank you! Check out this video, I talk about my spinners at the beginning:

So beautiful! How did you make your spinner?
Thanks! I bought a wooden lazy Susan from a craft vendor, then my husband and I took the top off and attached a wooden X cut out of plywood.
Thank you so much, it moves so beautifully
How wonderful, do you use a little white glue too? Strong hug!
Thanks! Nope, I don’t use white glue in the pouring medium or the cell activator…
Hi Anna! Can the Piggy pigments be added to resin?
Hi Sheila, I’m sure they can! I think they’re a finer mica pigment than some other brands, but should mix in just fine.

“Bloom” is about the recipe. There are blown blooms and bloom swipes and not all look like flowers 😆

@@ler1354 Great! Mica powders are very fun and are particularly good when you’re using a bloom recipe.
HOw do you mix you pillow paint?
The pillow is just house paint straight from a can!

Ihave a question about yours spinner: what is the dimensions of the sticks and the rounded base
Is that a custom made
Looks very convenient to work with.....
It is a custom top for a spinner. The slats are about 4” wide and the whole X was cut from a 20x20” square of plywood!
I have a question that I hope maybe you can answer ...so I have triple thick polyurethane and Behr deep base how can I make it so it's not as thick should I add water ... floetrol?? Both ?? Thank you your awesome

I had to come back and watch to find out where I messed up. My pillow base was to thin take 2 tomorrow
Good luck!
