Checking out this sweet promo for the NRL in Vegas March 2nd. Did a good job of explaining the rules to noobies like myself. I'd already seen a rules video but this one was more tailored just to rugby league which was helpful. Learned / had some stuff clarified which is always great. If you have any Rugby video suggestions let me know and I'll get to em.

Yeah that seems like a very important detail that I missed in my previous videos. Do you happen to know what the conversion rate is from the sides of the field vs the middle? Like how important is getting the try in the middle to make sure your kicker can hit the conversion?

Another common rule is if you tackle someone, the defence has to retreat 10 meters in line with the referee otherwise you will be offside and be penalised.

@EamonnReacts The ref would be standing 10m back from where the tackle was made. Which is how the defensive team knows exactly where to line up. If you are then infront of the ref then you can be called offside.

Hey! As a Canadian in New Zealand I’ve been watching rugby league from 2008. I just love the fast pace the game is played. Kinda reminds me of hockey in some respects where you have to think on the fly. My favourite team iothe Rabbitohs because of their history and fast paced play. Also their team colours are from the traditionally poor area where they are situated. They had to hunt wild rabbits for food and the green represents the grass and the red represents the blood of the rabbit that gave its life. Hope that kinda helps

This video was perfect. You should commentate on the games. Some Australian Podcasters like Hello Sport do this on UA-cam, but don’t show the game and it works really well. You commentate, the viewer listens to you and simultaneously watches the game. It would great to hear the view point of the target market as you are taking in the game for first few times. Your understanding of why they kicked behind the defence was perfect, you obviously have a good strategic mind and could apply that to watching Rugby League (the greatest game of all). One thing they didn’t mention in the video are penalties and the possible punishments of foul play
As you saw in the video of the tackle count restarting if a infringement such as tackling too long
    Penalty’s :
However striping the ball off an attacker with more then 1 person or high tackle or foul play etc will result in a penalty if one occurs the team who received the penalty has 3 options
    1. As you saw in the video a penalty goal which is worth 2 points and is kicked where the penalty was called
    2. Kick for touch: where the penalty was done the team with the ball can kick for the sideline (into touch) and gain metres upwards of the field to gain free territory you pass the ball from the sideline about 20m in feild tap the ball with your foot and play on
    3. Tap: if a team is possibly too close to go for kick for touch or don’t want to go for goal for 2 points they can simply tap the ball on the boot and start play again.
Punishment : if an infringement or penalty’s occurs repetitively,
or is done in a serious or forceful way that could cause injury 3 things could happen
    1. They will be placed on report which the referee will signal a X which they can remain to play however it will be reviewed in the future and could loose game time
    2. The sin bin: if the referee believes it was dangerous and doesn’t need review and must be punished the referee will signal 10 fingers in the air 🙌 which means you will be on the sideline and will not play for 10 minutes and leave your team with 12 players on the field instead of 13 which is a great advantage to the other team.
    3. Send off : the most highest punishment in the nrl is the send off which the referee will signal a finger and point him off the field which means he will not return for the rest of the game which will leave the team with 12 players instead of 13 for the remainder of the game.
Hope this helped let me know if I got anything wrong here

One of the best things about rugby is that it is truly a team game even players who are not actively supporting the player with the ball have to move into place to be a potential threat forcing their opponents to constantly adapt or leave openings. The team which can pressure their opponents into a weakened formation see the opportunity and as a team switch the direction of their attack quickest will dominate the game. It requires not just physical skills but a high degree of situational awareness and coordination from every player to make a good team. This is what makes the game so fast paced and exciting to watch.

The conversion goal is taken in line with where the try is grounded. Sometimes it can be almost in the sideline because the try was grounded just inside the corner. So the skill needed to kick those goals is far greater than for NFL, who only ever take their kicks from directly in front of the goal posts.

As TV entertainment goes ,a fact that isnt often acknowledged is that American football have thrown away the most fundamental entertainment value of seeing emotion on the face of players. In Rugby, soccer ,AFL and League , we get to see the anger, the exhilaration ,the despair , and all the emotions that come with intense sporting competition. Why ? No helmets. In the NFL there is never any emotion caught in the moment of action because we cant see their faces. At best its a couple of seconds later and its in the faces of the fans, the coaches, the players on the benches. Everywhere but on the field. What a lost opportunity.

      There is a 40/20 kick. For a successful 40-20:
      - the kicker must be behind his side's 40-metre line when he kicks the ball,
      - the ball must first hit the ground within the field of play,
      - the ball must then go over the sidelines of the field of play (into touch) past the opponent's 20-metre line.
If successful, the team that kicked is awarded a tap-kick restart from the point that the ball left the field and they get a new set of 6 tackles upfield.

In Australia, we refer to it as the NRL and only call it Rugby League when we need to differentiate between the 4 different versions of football played in Australia - those being NRL, AFL, Soccer and Rugby Union. well, it's more about the hand in hand high market selling from.... pay to watch in prime, the online betting, and the online sms phone use/connecting fees US market of hundreds of millions of "men" dudes invested in being entertained and make money on the side "like play the odds" predicting teams and players performance of the day, just like any team sports clashes.... league is great with ideal to this this kind of simplicity of fewer players. lesser complexity and fewer odds to base in how the clashes will turn up just straight on play which makes it better in terms of betting on a game winner..... it's invested in being entertained and make money on the side..... either that or we aussie's just want to rub on the face of entitled feminist and the woking infiltration of sport of trying to make an lgbtq shit of all sensitive men's sports..... so reclaiming the men in us, better than punch hitting a brick wall just to regain our toxic manliness as they say....

Yeah there's definitely huge money in Vegas and I'm sure thats a big part of it. Gambling is infiltrating every aspect of sport now a days. Up in Canada for hockey we have betting ads 24/7 between and during play. There are some new laws starting to come into effect now though that will limit it.

@@EamonnReacts well sad part of our global society have become... aus is no different, was just commenting of why the adamant push for the US market and real motive of those exhibitions games and believe me not just the "are you entertained" pun intended.... what should have been with it are the... tap kicks for continue every stoppage tackles (which happens nearly most of the plays, runs and tackles), the sin bins penalty, scrum restart after a short arm penalty..... also growing up aussie mental. you get the..... "eat concrete to toughen up princess", "cop a few ones on the kidney, liver on yor head, mate. to keep ya motivated", "it's all penal colony here, no one gets off without spitting blood" drilling as kids.....
