My guess is actually that this was a multiplayer game! The research and lack of spy tech suggests that Germany was a player (bad one). But the tanks and efficiency of the Soviet Union suggests this was another player! Hence the lack of Ironman save

At 1:03 i felt my heart sink as he cancelled the *almost complete* atomic research
(ik it won't have saved the game but he used to let it finish in previous disaster saves AND there was a FREE research slot at the top)

It is not like he loses the progress. When you "cancel" a research, the progress is saved. He could gone back and pick from the end.

AI cannot modify existing templates. They just create new ones. Many, many lag inducing new ones.
they are the default templates from 1936 when you first start@@AmraithNR. AI templates are like slamming your genitals in the car door

Honestly I think this one was a real disaster save. I doubt the last one you did with the Soviet Union having to defend Moscow was. Simply because it was setup like the AI.
But this feels fairly real. Like the person who was playing the Germans just had no idea what they were doing.
One example could be the agency: I, as probably many others, simply forget about its existence, so I end up with a couple of upgrades and nothing else

AI sucks at organizing. But will never forget about tank research and the agency.
I genuinely believe this player just really, really sucked. Which is fine and understandable. Even I, at 800 hours in, am still trying to beat the Soviet Union as Fascist Germany in historical.

@@sejozwak Okay. Can you please tell me then what exactly my spacemarine template should look like? I did a 14/4 with 2 battalions of medium tanks. 48 of these space marines divisions. And then I invaded the Soviet Union and got massacred.
Chinese troops manning the Maginot against the Kaiser, Yugoslavia ruling the Mediterranean, the Kaiser’s Royal Navy attempting to hold Portugal against the Soviet fleet, inverse D-Day in Denmark…what the hell happened in this run?

This is an incredible example of the kind of shennagins that happen in multiplayer... or console commands, one of the two. At any rate still a fun save to watch and to play. 6/10 for the save, 10/10 for the video.

He was using Motorized divisions so I assume he was saving them for the divisions. Stupid idea but when you’re desperate 🤷♂️

One thing that could be interesting for Hoi4 in general and especially for disaster saves would be if Hoi4 had a tool similar to Eu4 where you can playback the game.

I see how the tables have turned, German now as a naval power on an island Vs allies who have a big landforce.
Definitely a recommendation to read the book by Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck. It‘s called „Heia Safari“ in which he tells about his experience as leading General in German East Africa. Great to actually hear how they managed to hold out the entire World War I without capitulating against so many troops just by using guerilla tactics. The finest guerilla tactics you ever have seen. Truly a book that is worth to read

The scariest part of this whole scenario was when you had to move all your troops to Norwich, I felt so sorry for them there's like, literally nothing to do in Norwich

I created a (satirical) Reverse Sealion scenario like fifteen years ago something. Basically I got tired I hearing about Germany invading Britain that I wanted to have Britain invade Europe for once. Afterward, somebody else came along, asked if he could use my idea and then wrote something a lot more serious. He did such a good job I suggested he should turn it into a book.
I bet this guy didn’t have the dlc, which is why those planes were basic and the spy network wasn’t upgraded

I hate how the new peace conference system often will often leave something left over
I guess the devs never considered what would happen when 2 sides are demanding territory and neither can afford it all. They should add a sort of "unify" war goal that bypasses the truce and guarantees so I don't have to see a random patchy USSR in the middle of my Russian puppet.

You might as well use the armor and breakthrough of that huge stockpile of light tanks and design an extra soft attack light tank and then upgrade the stockpile.

tbh, this starting situation alone smells like this save is a troll save. I am sure that you'll be able to restore the Kaiserreich, but still, this is very sus. I'd almost recommend a rule that future saves have to be ironman. Not that it's impossible to fudge an ironman save, but still.

A human played Germany in this game, almost 100% sure - Germany is non-aligned and Historical AI focuses is on
It can't be a case of the player playing as the Soviets and asking you to play as Germany because historical focuses were on, and you were playing as the Kaiser and not as the mustache man
Hey mate, dont know if you see this but i think a small series explaining Div template, Ships, Air, Tanks or stuff like that would be good. Nobody really explains stuff like you do and just from your vids i have learned a lot for how to play and win. Unfortunate that i found you channel after already spending 100 hours of defeat but thats just paradox games in a nutshell

I also did this save as well, it was pretty fun, I did the same spot you did for my second naval invasion, the soviets technically won the war but I still kept my land and was able to get enough points to come back from being capped

7:14 correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to put taskforces on both strikeforce and patrol? Patrol taskforces find the enemy and then the strikeforce taskforce sails out to engage the enemy, or at least that's what my understanding of how the navy is supposed to work.

The thing is that strike force doesnt move the ships(no fuel comsumption) but gives naval superiority
It also works if submarines find ships whike raiding
The strike force gives naval dominance without costing fuel. It will also Sally out to defend submarines and convoys caught in combat.

Opening that armour research screen made me actually wince
quite a conundrum this game is. On one side its amazing that a player is able to make a glorious comback like this, but on the other hand its depressing the AI can't leverage its overwhelming advantage.

How does england have only 10 Mil factories in 1943? Even the AI would have built more than that. It feels like someone used console commands on this to properly screw germany up.
germany had its starting templates and no spy agency - meaning it was played by a player
Apx. 20:35 you can deal with a problem fleet like that by setting naval bombers to port strike and/or naval attack dependingon the situation. The AI will move the fleet to get away from the planes.
I am pretty sure this is the most cursed disaster save I have seen :D
It would be more cursed if Germany was democratic and in the Allies lol. Maybe UK went communist and was in Comintern, or went nationalist with their own faction.

I do like the cursed idea of Germany and Italy choosing democracy and then having to defeat a fascist UK and France. Proper "ghosts of the past" moment there.
My theory how it got this bad is the following: SP Game Germany: Germany did his thing, killing the British, then went AFK for a year comes back to being completely overrun by the soviets, declaring on him.

Imperial German occupation forces in Britain attempted to retake Germany from Soviet occupation by launching Operation: Oberherr.
"Bleed the soviet of manpower". You presume limits to my reserves... There are none.
Even if AI would play Germany, it would have changed the templates. This Germany had 1942 still the starting Templates, so must be played by a player.
If you know there is a fleet then send a task force directly that isn't assigned a task or set it's task to patrol the region

10:36 I played a Roman Empire game yesterday and when I invaded the United States they only had tank divisions. The AI had deleted the starting infantry divisions and the American front line was all medium tanks

Will to live, maybe. In this timeline it looks like Wilhelm was restored to the throne and was Kaiser again. He'd have actually had something to do with his life, leading his embattled Empire and trying to save it from total annihilation by the Soviets, so that might've kept him alive a couple years longer. Pure determination.
This is amazing timing for the video to get recommended, I just had this situation in my save because I attacked the soviets too late and they wiped me out, I had a little more time with Italy because they did a civil war and somehow survived- but eventually they capitulated too soon and I failed anyway. I managed to cause a coup in the USA as they were the only people I needed to capitulate to win one of the wars I think, but they didn't capitulate in time for me to win

10:09 i doubt that the player was playing the soviets. If you pause it at just the right moment here. you can see the soviet tank template. It includes medium tanks, light tanks, motorised. shovel support and armoured car support. its just the soviet tank division, not a light tank division and a medium tank division, just looks like multiple mediums. no player that i know even uses light tanks and medium tanks in the same template, let alone also using armoured car support. maybe the soviets just switched the template to an ai made template tho

Ngl i wish i could find this save in hoi4 when i first started and i just annexed britain and france to try and fight germany with my 3 troops as ireland

Here's a fun fact looking at the save. WW2 kicks off when Germany attacks the (democratic) French (France usually has some communist problems when Germany goes this path). The British join in when Greece is attacked in 41 and the US in 42. Britain, despite being in WW2, is annexed in 43 when the save starts, not capitulated, with the British Navy being owned by the player. That is quite simply impossible. Also the save was modded, using State Transfer Tool, Player-led conferences and Formable Nations as mods. What I don't quite understand is a certain peace conference where Yugoslavia generated 88% world tension in 42. There's also a few things about the UI that don't make sense, like how the UK is listed there, capitulated, but also not called into the war. It would make sense if the player didn't OWN the British isles and if the player didn't own the Royal Navy, but they do. I'm only left wondering, how the hell was this done. Because I have played around a lot with the console and I'm not quite sure how you'd get this particular result.

When I tried to Player the save I also had a problem with Soviet troop on the on Tile in the Netherlands and the Thing with the enemy fleet being in the way. I managed to fix it by setting my navy to Navil Invasion Support.
my guess on how this ever happened is that Operation sealion worked. Operation barbarossa and everything else didn't.
9:58, I dont think this is true, because if Germany would have been AI controlled then they wouldnt have stuck with the same division templates and aircraft from 1936 but instead they would actually try and create newer ones. The navy also tells me that this isnt AI because those fleetz must have been taken from a peace deal and AI doesnt really do that.
