I had this unit installed in my 2020 Tundra and I love it. Just remember to update the carplay or android auto app software. Also, do the update on the unit or the auto play or android auto will disconnect or not connect at all. The only con is that I can't put the mic in the spot where the stock mic is located. I highly recommend this unit. I got the 11 inch with the front camera.

I believe only the dash cam record. I had the front camera installed and it does not record.
So it doesn’t use the stock mic?
@moodyvol89 no, you can't use the stock mic. Trail Grid created a mount, but it's only for the Sony mic, which they sent me, however if you put the mic in the stock it will location muffled. I removed it and placed the mic behind the edge of the windshield behind the rear view mirror. The sound sounds great and it's out of site.
How is the music sound. Is it sound quality like boss or beat
I have F511 for a year and ahalf now I have had zero issues Alpine did a great job. They also issue updates when needed which is really a great idea

Just installed this unit in my 2020 Tundra. All went smoothly thanks to this video. I had to reset the maestro to get things working but that was easy to do and I’m enjoying the improvement in sound and having wireless CarPlay. TGP was great to work with. Very responsive to all the questions I had prior to installing this unit.

Love this setup, looks great and the Maestro add on is great. My only complaint is the EQ. Adjustment is a pain. Screen responsive in EQ adjustment is really choppy and quirky. Thanks for putting together a great kit and install videos.
The EQ setup on these radios is definitely a bit of a learning curve!
Only thing about these after market head units is I wish they used more of the screen instead of bezel

Just picked up the F511, the 10 speaker Alpine bundle, and the JBL bypass Alpine Apm for my 2020 Tundra TRD Pro. Excited to see how this goes. I probably should have picked up the front camera as well. Hmmph.

28:26 I just installed ILX-F511 ON MY 2017 Tundra & love it but my TPMS screen displays N/A instead of values. I read something about this being on LIN network for data transmission. How can I resolve this issue?

Is there any way at all to use the factory mic? Really want to keep an oem look and avoid the cobbled civic look. Everything about this is mint but that. Could you even just splice the wires with the factory mic?
There are ways to splice the microphone wiring, but it's not something we have tested ourselves!

I have a 2014 Toyota 4runner trail edition. I had the 511 installed. Everything works fantastic except the installer used the Sirius XM antenna and mounted inside the wind shield behind the rear view mirror and im having signal issues. I've had XM radio through my stock system for 10yrs with zero issues. Can i hook up my Siruis antenna through my original system attenna for this year?
Do you have units like these for 2010 tundra limited with the oem navigation and backup camera?
What hdmi port did you use? I just purchased the unit from you and like to add the hdmi adapter with a nice clean port near the usb ports

The '14-'21 Tundra and Sequoia share the same infotainment systems and wiring . They are fraternal twins its been said. These units should install the in the Sequoia. You might want to reach out to Trail Grid to confirm before you order. Now let's show some love for the Sequoia!

My biggest complaint about my 2018 tundra, is the factory JBL stereo. Its terrible.
Does this head unit make the factory JBL system sound better?

How does that Alpine compare to the Sone 9500es?
They are both HUGE upgrades over stock. It honestly depends on who you ask - some love the Alpine and some love Sony!

What setting do i change to where streaming can happen when the car is not in park with the emergency break on?
Natively, the vehicle has to be in park w/ the e-brake on in order to be able to watch video. There isn't a setting within the head unit to disable this.
@TrailGridPro ok...if there is no setting.. how do I do it. ;) does the brake ground wire have anything to do with it?
Does this work with the stock JBL system? I have the taco tunes system with the stock stereo and would like to upgrade the head unit.
Are these better than the Sony XAV-9500ES?
I think it comes down to personal preference. We love both!
I just installed the Sony XAV-9500ES in my 2018 Tundra, no regrets, beautiful unit. you should compare features on both and see which one fits your needs. personally I've always liked Sony

Thanks for reaching out! Unless iDatalink or Alpine begins making a vehicle specific adapter, that likely won't be possible any time soon. There are posts online about people splicing the two together, but it doesn't seem worth the hassle in our opinion!
What dash cam is that you’re using that uses that harness? The one I ordered , the Cobra , connects to my rear view mirror but cannot stay in when parked

Question. ODB2. Should I be getting engine info coming in after this installation? I'm not. I notice I have what looks like an ODB cable in the extra parts bag. iLX-507 with maestro on 2018 tundra with JBL with sub.
If you're not getting any engine data from the connections behind the radio, plug in the OBD connector and they'll flow in!

Just wondering how do you know if you got a amplified system ? How would you know if it’s JBL or non- JBL? Just got a 2014 tundra a few months ago
Great question. Here's what you're looking for:
If you have a JBL logo on the top of your door speakers then you have a JBL Amplified System.
If you don't have a JBL logo on your door speakers but you have an amplifier under your drivers side or passenger side seat then you have a non-JBL Amplified System.
If you do not have a JBL logo on the top of your door speakers nor have an amplifier under your drivers side or passenger side seat then you have a Non-Amplified System.
Is this able to connect to a Bluetooth OBD 2 and read transmission temp? I've read that the torque pro app doesn't work with android auto to show it.
Our bundle does show trans temp and you can connect the OBD (that comes in our kit) for that if it doesn't display just from our existing wire harness.
I had to unplug something connected to the obd port in order for the stereo to work. Cant find anything not working, any thoughts?

It'd be awesome if you did a video showing best ways to route wiring for the mic since factory mic can't do used
Here's the segment of video where we talk about the mic (ua-cam.com/video/ztDM7HJ4gqs/v-deo.htmlsi=OQ6KRHySTlowKFoR&t=1138). We used a wire-fish to route the mic from behind the dash to the floorboard and then just routed it to on top of the steering column with our hands.

Everything will be included with your bundle, even the extra parts that aren't needed for installation!
I just ordered the front camera for my 2019 TRD Pro Tundra, will that front camera kit work with this head unit?
It's a big no. That's why this guy never responds to questions that don't work with his suppliers, like alpine and pioneer

We do not at this time - mounting the rear camera in a way that isn't affected by the window rolling down can take some creativity. We're going to have some mounting solutions available in the near future!
Do you still maintain factor maintance reminders that go off miliage or date like oem radio

Yep, the system utilizes your phones cellular connection to run Apple CarPlay / Android Auto so you can grab mapping applications like Apple Maps, Google Maps & Waze!

No.
It certainly will improve your volume and sound quality! We recently changed the way we set these bundles up for JBL vehicles and the results are significant!
Will I be able to use my steering wheel controls on this new setup?

Just got this unit and am halfway through install but the backup camera isnt working. I am using the factory backup camera, the adapter harness wirh the yellow connections is plugged in just like it came out of the box which they say not to touch. Both ends are labeled for "backup camera" but when i shift to reverse or press the camera button no feed shows on the unit. I also wired a front camera and plugged that into the other camera adapter input and that gives no feed either. Any advice? Other videos show splicing in an additional ground line to the adapter connection but im not so sure abojtt doing that.

I'm curious about the mic adapter. I'm contemplating buying this unit but I'd really like to keep the stock mic.
@wink1814 so I got the 11 inch unit and I love it. Just fyi you will lose the digital compass on your dashboard and the ability to set routine maintenance schedule. Now for the mic issue, have them send you a Sony mic so you could get the adapter that goes into the stock mic location. Unless, they made the adapter for the Alpine mic, that's the only way you could get the mic in it's original spot. I haven't not done mine yet, because I haven't gotten to it, but I will probably do it this weekend. According to the staff it should work fine

@wink1814 nope, the only thing is the Google maps but no compass. I liked it to I thought I did something wrong with the installation, but I called the Trail peeps and they confirmed that feature isn't available. Other than that, it's a nice update to the outdated system. The sound is also much better.

You can stream videos to this device using the HDMI port on the back of the head unit while the vehicle is parked!

I had my mind set on getting an Alpine but after some thorough research I decide to go with a Dasaita head unit. My tundra isn't my DD. The Dasaita gives me practically everything the Alpine does with less than half the cost. The only thing that does worry me with Dasaita(other than reliability of course) is the fact that my truck can sit 2-3 weeks without being started. Don't know if that'll be an issue.

I wish i found you before i purchased from my local shop. They were not knowledgeable at all. Its a pain getting all them wires shoved behind the dash. Some times you need to take it in and out a few times.

This installation is not for the faint of heart and if it wasn't for this video I would have never gotten it done.
The routing of cables is NOT easy. Gave up on connecting the HDMI/USB adapter as the TGP installation guide gives no indication on how to route. The Maestro/Sirius boxes will not stick together and is hanging up and not staying with the head unit with the Velcro tape. Took a total of 3 hours to install for my 2015 Toyota Tundra.

Absolutely! You can utilize the HDMI in connection in the back of the head unit to connect any HDMI device to your head unit!

If you already have the Toyota oem premium touch screen adding a slightly bigger touchscreen is a waist of money reserved for those needing validation from their peers…

You can't compare the oem with the Alpine unit. The oem unit is a dinosaur of a unit and I have a 2020 Tundra.
My infotainment system will not work without that stupid plastic pice? What if I hit a bump it comes out and get damaged before I can get it. Or if I go off-roading ? That is a stupid set up
